In the still of the night
My thoughts drift inwards
I let my guards down
So maybe, just maybe
You catch me after midnight
I'll let you in
Share my deepest self
My fears
The part of me
I often hide with humor
At that point
You become a part of my world
See through my eyes
And get to know me
Just long enough
Until the walls go up again
It's just after midnight

My walls are higher than I thought and I
                                    am not so sure
                                           that they will
                                                   actually come
                                                                  down this
                                                                              time.

A sentinel

A sentinel stands motionless, staring out into the distance;
Surveying the horizon in case of a new threat.
He has been there all night and now dawn is breaking.
The light shines in his eyes and lights up the glen.

The flowers are in bloom and all the trees are a radiant green
And still he stands, watching; looking for any kind of enemy.
He can hear his fellow soldiers stirring behind him;
Their hangovers are seeking a remedy.

He wonders if this will be the day they are attacked;
Or will the peace last?
And will reinforcements arrive before the enemy?
Still he stands still, staring into the forest;
Waiting for someone to cross his path.

This war has lasted too long already and no end of war is in sight.
He is just thankful for the peace that lasted…last night.

I want to tell you
how you slowly became the tree
that guards me from the happiness and sadness
of the world,
and let me create my own.
How it was lovely to see you grow.
How it hurt to love you.
How beautiful you were even in the worst of your moments.
How I selfishly wanted to be the only scar on your heart
and only smile on your face.
How,on days that I desperately
looked for a reason to stay,
yours was the only name
that anchored me in this world.
I will tell you how I always lived
dreaming of death,
dreaming of release,
and how thankful I am that
you kept me alive.
I will tell you all this.
But not today.
Some other time.

This world doesn't need bigger guns.
Worry less of the enemies in front,
As they too have families at their back.
Drop your guns, drop your guard.

Set the table with some buns,
And forget about the hunt;
For vengeance, for payback.
Come on, it's not that hard.

Don't let the guard down, don't let the guard down.

I'm already standing too close to the fire.

I can feel the heat and yet l can't back away.

What if it's not meant to burn me?

Frozen to the ground I stand, waiting.

Hoping the flames aren't meant for me.

We’re motes of dust and stars that sparkle,
We’re cherry trees and busy bees,
We’re rays of light when it gets darker,
We blossom, finely, in the freeze.

We shimmer, warmly, in the void,
Defying odds and making friends.
We build when others are destroying,
We guide you past unlit dead-ends.

We’re rivers winding through the deserts,
We’re oceans, gentlest at the shore.
We are the snow, we are the claret…
When earth is parched, we let it pour.

We are the night, we are the morning,
We are the ticking of the clock.
We are the comfort in the times of mourning,
We are the feathers mild when you sleepwalk.

We are the sky, we are the thunder,
We are the sun, we are the rain.
We put the rapture in the wonder,
We put the slow in the fast lane.

We are the truth, we are the spirit,
We are the numbers and the runes.
…So take your life and boldly live it
While humming all those merry tunes.

her ****** smile,
brushed softly below his belt,
needs to be on guard!

There’ll never be a day,
You look through my windows,
As I’ll never see through yours.
But I do love surprises.
