The me that you don't see
Hidden under the mask.
Everything you know about me.
Those are all lies.
Removing my mask is the real me.
Under the facade you know is what I am.
Tell me now.
How do you like the real me?
Is this what do you expect?
Scary? Frightening?
Are you scared of me now?
Look at your face.
I see disappointment.
Everyone of you doesn't understand me.

High waisted jeans.
Converse with the colors faded,
Socks that are too warm.
Coffee that you forgot,
now it's too cold.
Goldilocks with a pixie cut,
but it's grown out.
And dyed red.

Joking about suicide but taking it seriously.
Alive on a bed with petals and thorns.
While autumn decays the terrace around to warn
you of the winter soon to storm through and
separate you from the torn.

His smile faded worse than your shoes.
And you spent a lot of time walking at night,
through puddles, trudging up dredged silt
and kicked loam
on your way half-buzzed to your apartment home.
It took a season longer for him to fade from bright
to held steadfast against the backdrop of vacuum
stagnant light.

He smells of sweat and sweetly crunched leaves.
Popular spice rub and sparkling water throat-feel.
Your jeans you bought with the holes in them are *****.
You'll wear 'em 'til you're thirty,
you're thrifty,
and frugal, but you still tip thirty percent per purchase spent.
Because you were in their black shoes once,
dressed shirt pressed and smiled to impress those
who spent less than you'd guess on their own tips back then.
Mid-20s and all you are is memories of nineteen.
A few more to even the score.

Yoga pants as pajamas. Pajama bottoms to class.
It used to be about the glances, and remarks.
Now it's about delivering yourself from the past.

You'll tip handsomely to the ugly people.
And nod your head with your chin bounce up,
in a show of recognition for the facade we all front.

You'll smile when most frown.
You'll rejoice amongst the vogue of cynics.
You will, because will is what does and you don't give up.
In a show of recognition for the facade we all front.

A part of you i saw
A part i think you've never seen
It was beautiful and serene

Why do you hide it
Put on a brave face
A hard closed facade

I've seen your heart
The love you have hidden
Behind your coarse surface

Set your heart free
I promise its safe
I'll gaurd its gate

Set your heart free
Let your truth grow
let our love flourish

Allow me to love you

Oh it's all hanging threads,
Hanging ligaments with drops of red:
Vines without poles - flesh without bones.

Events roll out in scarlatine flashes:
Eyes in crowd flap down their eyelashes
And in silence the suspense grows strong;

The bricks are set, the façade is over,
But from within, the house still lacks a structure:
One penetrates rooms without walls.

A memory from the depth is brought up,
A storyline used to link so many dispersed dots:
Leaves are flying free as the childhood tree rots...

Oh it's all hanging threads
Hanging sources, hanging roots:
Scars over the sun revolving in loops.

And the conduit narrows down,
Leaks a single bolt of light to glow:
An empty room as throne and crown

And a thorn, pain escaping death,
A frown of estrangement in the face
Of all that's known - what's most unknown.

Spectators stare deceptively
While promises of relief are spared;
They too are suspended in the air...

Oh it's all hanging threads
Hanging loose, hanging dead;
Waiting for the artisan to ease the noose.

Sometimes the words you say out of love hurt.
Stabbing, cutting words that, underneath their sounds,
Tell me that you don't think I can.
And that is precisely the reason why you only know my facade.

But now that facade is breaking.
Cracks spiderwebbing throughout my arms,
Tears ripping away from my legs,
Chunks missing from my chest, and
If you look closely, you can see the dark empty inside
Through the shattered windows of my eyes.

Soon the facade will crumble away
And you won't know the person in front of you.

Why do you need so badly for someone to love you?
What is it you search for in every empty room?

For someone to notice the shell that you found,
To dig a bit deeper and feel all around,
Until he stumbles over himself and falls,
And you dodge his body and walk along?
I'm not even saying to you that it's wrong,
we are creatures underneath after all.

But the shell is just a lure I'm sure,
and it looks nothing like the one you bore before.
I've yet to see one that has changed more than yours.

I hear your voice next to me
But I feel distance in my heart
There is a ten-mile wall between us
Though we are only inches apart

You are always just beyond my reach
Not quite close enough for hands to touch
You are hardly two steps away from me
One is already too much

Became a different person
Transformed before my eyes
How could you have possibly changed
Into someone I do not recognize?

We grew into complete strangers
I watched our friendship collapse
When the foundation crumbled
It uncovered your hidden traps

All the betrayal I was once blind to
Suddenly made perfect ******* sense
Where it had been filled with lies
Stood a gigantic hole in your defense

You kept mistakes hidden
Couldn't bear to let the world see
So you put up a facade in form of a mask
Concealed the real you from all (including me)
And the worst part is knowing I'm just another person to you

It's like you see beyond the glimmer in my eyes
It's like you're able to look right through my faulty smile
It's like you see right past the parts of a different time
It's like you gaze into the depths and see two of a kind

It's like I seem to be to you as clear as the sky
Whenever you can't see a ******* cloud on the horizon, why?
You see the good intentions and you see the wicked ways
The water on the surface and the Devils own blaze!

I'm the master of my fate, I am not the beast in me!
I will not succumb, not be numb, to your ******* greed!
I will stay afloat, in the tides of misery!
I will make my way, and you will not **** me!

The jester we are one, the good and bad combined!
We live to entertain, but it's myself that I provide!
Laughing in despair, head lowered in pride
A contradictory conflict, and you see it in my eyes...

It's like you see beyond, the glimmer in my eyes
It's like you're able to look right through my faulty smile
It's like you see right past the mask behind which we will hide
It's like you gaze into the depths and see our dead divide...

I inhale the dark mist of self sodomising reflections like it were the sweet smell of nostalgia; Lavender on my pillow playing soft symphonies of content. This is no longer a reality but can be re-lived through memories, through a silver-lined portal of pretend; the face staring back at me, I know, is a devise; all fogged by want. This is the face I choose, the one I wear today. It may change, but for now, like a magic trick, smoke and mirrors guard me and my secrets.
