Aura, My lips are pressed against your ear. Listen carefully; do not forget. Deliver my message swiftly. Dryads, Sway gently, laugh gaily. Fill the sky with red and green. Bloom with my unspoken emotions. Selene, Beautiful with all the imperfections. Darkness falls and you listen. Know my dreams and pains. Chiron, Shin bright up high and counsel. Helios, Explode in magnificence; weave a golden cloak.

****** Sacrifice
XXXI. TO HELIOS (20 lines) (ll. 1-16) (34) And now, O Muse Calliope, daughter of Zeus, begin to sing of glowing Helios whom mild-eyed Euryphaessa, the far- shining one, bare to the Son of Earth and starry Heaven. For Hyperion wedded glorious Euryphaessa, his own sister, who bare him lovely children, rosy-armed Eos and rich-tressed Selene and tireless Helios who is like the deathless gods. As he rides in his chariot, he shines upon men and deathless gods, and piercingly he gazes with his eyes from his golden helmet. Bright rays beam dazzlingly from him, and his bright locks streaming form the temples of his head gracefully enclose his far-seen face: a rich, fine-spun garment glows upon his body and flutters in the wind: and stallions carry him. Then, when he has stayed his golden-yoked chariot and horses, he rests there upon the highest point of heaven, until he marvellously drives them down again through heaven to Ocean. (ll. 17-19) Hail to you, lord! Freely bestow on me substance that cheers the heart. And now that I have begun with you, I will celebrate the race of mortal men half-divine whose deeds the Muses have showed to mankind.

The Homeric Hymns: 31- To Helios
Arrive in a neighborhood not mine. Phoenix sun splits the mailboxes, Cracked cement, bald lawns, deflated kiddie pools, sippy cups gone brittle in the sun. A toddler screams until a sibling gathers him inside. Helios whips his chariot down the street, steals my parking space. White Shell Woman hushes the child with a wind of cool dust. I buy donuts, Cheetos, pickles- eat them in the car. Gas station sink, hair and grit. I scrub off orange powder. Kokopelli swings from the paper towel rack, flicking drops of water onto my face, flirting, laughing at my small hungers. Cemetery, sitting on the hood. Graves hum in the heat. Yours more-so. Hecate steps from the shadow of a mesquite, offers me three paths, none of them home. Coyote pads along the stone wall, head cocked, grin sharp, watching my pulse quicken. White Shell Woman whispers: _Run._ The blood in me stirs- knife-bright, restless. I step off the hood, already fleeing toward any other life.

Welcome Estival Festival
I drown and glimpse Poseidon's kingdom I fall and I am lifted by the winds of Anemoi My heart looks into medusa eyes And I run freely about the lair of Eris I clutch the moon in the wake of Hecate as the war is waged against Selene's solar bounty Lethe guides my hand into ignorance Ponos holds my head high in the face of my deepest fear Theia bares Eos to me and I offer the reddest rose for she is the light that lets Helios reign

Chasing Helios
here is something that mother told me about god complexes: “everyone believes themselves to be gods among men: even that hideous monster from your half-remembered Hellenistic dreams will retreat back to his craggy hideaway and continue with his hedonistic ways. the poor creature: he will don a halo, iconize himself in caricatures pretending that if for a moment his veins flow ichorous that Icarus may have envied when his wings beat in tandem with the footfalls of the sun chariots’ horses. “the sun shines upon hallowed ground, though Polyphemus will avoid Helios’s scornful gaze. he herds sheep––his only acolytes–– an unabashed king in his realm, like a god plays war, or as a child would play house, humming hallelujah, veins running gold-blooded. when moon rises, he will hang his weary shadow at his door and retreat to his fire-pit. perhaps this will be the closest he will be to the gods, basking in the heat of Hestia’s humble hearth. “in the end,” mother said, “Nobody will end up deified. Icarus may have rained down wax and feathers in godlike fury before tilting his head to Helios once more; Polyphemus waded into the sea, eyes clouded in godlike fury before resigning himself to fate, head bowed.”

POLYPHEMUS
1 You will not find a more willing participant To join you on this serendipitous adventure of luck. We will merrily hijack the trippy ride of Helios And daringly traverse the long way around the sun. We will sleep together in the heart of the meadow Where sun-dappled leaves and rabbits frolic in jolly romps. We will swim in salmon-filled rivers and go upstream Where many-coloured coins glint upon the surface. We will not curb our enthusiasm to conceal the truth Fixing Nyx, we share unbridled passion upon the moon. We will cradle each other's fears within parched lunar craters While the world waxes on the rim of existence, our love will not wane. Let us be more than willing to unshackle the mind To explore lost messages in a bottle on the high seas. 2. Yet I'm willing to journey through the darkness even With eyes closed In an attempt to reach you To find you. I am so willing to play the fool advocating love Than to be over cautious and lose out big time. So, I am willing you ....to let drop the scales 'Twud be astounding to have a willing....you Willing us to deflect this way untimely contretemps And placing us this day upon an unbroken tide beyond..... Willing you
O' Helios' Back arched in regal Blue, bows into pillar puffed petrichor Amethyst warred in the underbelly, verdant memories of waning night swore legendary red, o're musk of organdy blushed brightly pink an awakening sky. Daffodils and dandelions lean into the chariots wind... sans the sounds of summer's sweet, eulogies weep over Endymion's eyes. Cardinal night, closes his door morning will sing a yawn in symphony... and into the grey goose dawn, fifty more daughters are born.

Ancient Selene Cardinal
At Summer Solstice, the Sun is far distant from the celestial equator and that day is the longest of the year. From Khufu’s Great Pyramid at Giza the scarlet Phoenix with the golden crest swoops silent and low across the Delta. Only half a millennium of life before it passes to the flames of fire and is reborn again from charred ashes. This yang bird, fiery and blood cardinal a solar flare blazing incandescent pumps joy from the igneous heart of earth erupts red hot energy volcanic exciting and swirling the power of Qi. Sun’s light and heat brings universal life, and worshipped as Samash, Mithras and Ra, Aztec God Tezcatlipoca, Greek Helios, Phoebus and Apollo. Now comes the agile Phoenix, sunset-stained Broad-winged and gliding in the cloudless skies Certain source of abundance and plenty Plump-rich each berry, mango, peach, pear, plum. Squeeze juicy sweet and succulent to taste Summer full blown, mature and glorious. © M.L.Emmett

The Element of Fire
Barking along the seething sea Tethys sparkling Sans Pellagrino Bubbled up with volcanic Albido And it exposed the cragged shores Of a incessantly compiling Or Completely snuffed Mountain Bored and drilled by time Sharper than a dying dimond Cooked and left to rest A Dinar plate To which an all you can eat Buffet Played out pleasently From antiquity To present A gift to an aging child To be which pure joy can behold. Today it is home of the Croats The ancient Frontier of a meiotic Rome And over small-grain time Made coats Of arms and animal manes To give a name To the nameless To give a place To the missed That old Tethys barks like a fish Beyond the Odoacerean boot, Scylla and Charybdis Where the whales float And great souls Stolen deep within wishing to find god Fumbling in the dark Searching for Alexandria The flame of life Become great stories to be told And nothing more. Odysseus Hug the shore Follow the land of the mysterious Croats Do not venture beyond the threshold Or you will be consumed by time And lost to her Circedean jealous pines Do not anger the constant love of Helios No, These Croats have never croaked They know not of amphibiotes And the sharpened clades of life Made and tailored bespoke Sowed In the fractals Of the quiet word of Eloah.

The Creation Of A Solar Eclipse
his golden chariot climbs high pulled by four fiery steeds his corona ablaze shining and radiant bringing light and warmth to a mundane world rising in the east setting in the west from horizon to horizon for eternity his only respite was resting inside a golden cup catching the red eye back east via Oceanus to start the day again a solemn, solitary figure dedicated to daily duty Zephyr felt pity for him she whispered a sweet perfume that struck him like Eros’ arrow his eyes followed his nose he spied a maiden so fair frolicking amidst flora and fauna a wreath of yarrow crowning her hair Helios had never taken notice of mortals before but found her beguiling an innocent, unassuming hottie so unlike the haughty goddesses he left his chariot to pursue her visage the earth plunged into cold darkness as mighty Atlas moved his shoulders trying to see what was the matter the earth quaked humans shrieked in fear “The gods have forsaken us!” Zeus heard the commotion and looked down from Olympus he found Helios gazing upon his lady entranced as if by Sirens’ call unaware of the darkness entrenching earth enraged, Zeus hurled a lightning bolt temporarily blinding Helios shaking him from his stupor Helios blushed with shame for his dereliction of duty creating the first red sunset as he climbed back into his chariot in a pre-emptive strike a preventive measure Zeus erased Helios’ memory and first froze the girl in a block of ice but took pity on her and transformed her into a cloud to the delight of humans Helios resumed his duties oblivious to the eclipse of his memory but somehow feeling strangely at loss to this day every now and then on the rarest of occasions he would glimpse a peculiar icy cloud dancing before him uncertain as to why he would notice one cloud from so many he would just smile brightly and carry on

a yellow rose winds to the skies, blossoming, letting soft petals fall to the cidery earth, blushing in the caverns of the sweet-flowering day, inspired like the greek sun-god helios but drawn out of rhododendron and apple, drawn out of love. a thousand years of summer, the wolf, the thin mouth of sky, a diamond bumble bee, the gifts of a stolen sun, shaken out like a rattle snake, the broken angles of death, the lost side of each word, with all its intentions and promises - fallen to the floor, like an apple, or a blind mole loving the soil, the dry earth, the faded parchment sun, or a rock of ice, in a tangy glass, where the summer sun grows roots and shoots, shadow domes and leafy golden skies.

**** those clouds. If I were a cloud I'd be dark as the darkest pit in hell. Every splash from Helios' cauldron would die in an attempt to permeate. And those blinded underneath shall shiver for eternity.

Does every cloud have a silver lining?

❝many scientist wants to wander you for you are a galaxy, Universe to be specific, that hold vast of hidden secrets; another piece of a masterpiece indeed. You hold hundreds of different secrets, curiosity, maybe. But I'm gonna tell 3 of those secrets out of hundred— Oh! You're the sun of the Earth, my love— You brights in that loneliest corner, even though it's just a penetrating sun ray, it lit and gives encouragement to one another; You inspires someone to be as delighted as you are, I wonder if you're a fan of Helios, the god of sun. —3/3 Oh! You're a whirling beautiful black hole You keeps on pushing us in the boundaries of curiosity; You keeps on hiding secrets in the depths of your hole, You are just so mesmerizing but— what does your beauty wants to convey? What kind of danger does we need to face to get to know the secrets you hide? —2/3 Oh! You're an exquisite planet Earth, my love— You sustain life and gives a special place for everyone Where people live and love you for you loved them back When universe is dying, you have billions of man to bring you back; to plant trees and flowers, to bring nature back— You're not failing when you have someone to live as your Sun.❞ 1/3 —to those who thinks they're not special, this poem is for you x Author

SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE
Soon after the sky had cast off The tattered cloak of night, And the midnight sun had set, Helios himself climbed above the trees. Dancing across the tops of dueling oaks, Those primordial brothers between the ponds Who, over time, grew up and into each other, He sat spinning madly. Shedding his golden rays, As a lab shakes and sheds the water from his back, They fell deliberately onto And through my open blinds. And I, stirred by the small streams of light Cutting through the dark as if empty space, I opened my eyes, only to close them again. Lying, silently, I wait, Tracing shadows as they slowly shift, Dancing across the dull, white walls. Fetid clothes lay protecting the floorboards. The stale smell of smoke lingers, Trapped in the soft cottons and polyesters Of the cream throw pillows, The blue waves of comforter, The vast canyons of the corduroy futon. Wine, fresh on my tongue, Tells tales of the evening, Lost of late in a world so distant. My memories slip away like slack tide Beneath rotten planks of a dock. Twin cities, London and Paris, A cold Christmas morning in Montmartre, The warmth of the café we shared, All hung up neatly on the wall. Maps of emotions I never knew I had. Only the breeze may speak here, Whistling through the fissures in the wall.

Back Room
There was a time when I sang on you forlornly, So wistfully heraldic, That I might have thought you worthy Of a gilded biblical throne of purple-prosed petals. Let us be grateful then, for the song of perihelion, And the whispered wisdoms of the dear tropics, For the fresh breath from these friends whisks me Back to my wakening, aurelian self. I weave the holly in my hair, I hang the mistletoe anew, For solitary trees stand strong, Though weighted by the winter’s dew. I am Helios’s rantipole I’ve no more time for tears of old, With so much in me left to grow, And so far in me left to go.

Cal-i-fornia (verb) the state of being golden. Can you see the way the sand sparkles on the shore? Golden shards of glass, or broken dreams. Who possesses the Midas touch now? The crushed gates of Atlantis on our shores. Aphroditic bronze goddess of the sea, Hair blown by the breeze. Sea air & salty & more than anyone could need, or was used to. Giant sequoias stand As mighty and proud protectors Behemoths of lifetimes past. Explosion of seeds inside Fireworks waiting to explode Pinecones, little grenades of life. Ghost towns reminiscent of the Wild West Mining camps from the Gold rush days. Tumbleweeds & reptiles & powder fine dust. Some say the earth is red from the natives’ blood spilt, and sunk in, Reality – Oxidation turns iron in the dirt to rust. So that’s why Mars is red. After a bad storm in San Diego Dollars lie broken & shattered on the shore A bankruptcy of marine proportions! Just go see for yourself, The sand dollar apocalypse. We were echinoderms too. Life gone dormant, and violent beginnings. As if Calliope’s harp needed to be retuned, Sun god, Apollo & Helios with his chariot in the sky When did we become so heliocentric? Solitary white cross on the hill. Never did anything to harm anyone, yet they fear you so Enough to try to remove you from our presence. Mount Soledad, or their SOLEs-are-DeAD. - You know San Onofre is a power plant right? - Radiation, is that a problem? - Only if you want to have kids or stay cancer free. - 25 foot sea wall -- To keep the waves out, or the kraken in? - 4,000 tons of nuclear waste, who’s gonna get rid of that? Ghostly tendrils of death Blown fifty miles down the coast. They call it SONGS, how quaint. A symphony of catastrophe. The greatest arias of death and destruction.

Escaped have I from bitter chains, from older captive hands All there is are memories for me of solid land Only clouds and sky and sea, only clouds and sky and sea I have found, dear mother sea, that father sun, he calls Free as a bird upon wax wings with the gods Only clouds and sky and sea, only sky and sea and me I have raised myself upon the brim to fly forever more Fly not to high, they ask of me, or find Poseidon's door Fear not love, onward I come, a god upon wax wings To the stars, oh, to the sun, you'll find I too shall cling To the sun I climb, dear soul, to the sun I climb... oh no Brilliant sun, why do you lay such heated words on me Causing this god to become boy again, with wax melting One last kiss, one last touch, one last beckon and call One last thing Helios sing, "dear foolish child, FALL" So have moments turned from me, so must I turn down to sea Time stands still as if its will's to see my follied ways Tracing back the time I had before this fall, this flight, the chains Mother sea, be kind to me as your arms open wide The son you take, the heart you break, as your wave takes me inside To scream terror as wax and feather fall into te sea And tears that fall but can't be found... dear father, forgive me I will be in my new mother's arms forever more Never again to see the light of day, never to see the shore And when sandy beach does meet your eye and sun rise once again I pray land and live, your son forgive until you too descend Pray do not forget the tragic tale or sorrowful, little me Who at first glance had a chance to touch stars, but fell to sea And I beg you, dry tears from your eyes, do not cry again For whether land or sea, we'll meet once more, for both are mortal ends Listen with open hearts, with listening eyes, unfaltered in your core Reach for sun, dear soul, with humbled hands or see Poseidon's door Only clouds and sky in view, Only clouds and sky... and you...

There's a hole in the sky, Where light shines in. Dark and hollow. If you stare at the centre, You see right through, To other worlds, To heaven, to hell. All around the hole, The light defuses. Rays of sunlight, Light is spread. Apollo and Sol, Ra and Helios. Surya and Horus, Tonatiuh and Amaterasu. The hole has substance, The hole gives heat. Great fire of sky, Our local star.
