surrounded by green
just you and me
bird chirps echo
down a path so narrow
we stare at the dirt
whispering to the earth
inhaling the air
that you and I share
the sun sends rays
melting away the grey
the view I can see
I’ve seen in my dreams
the lilac aura you possess
cleanses my stress
I shine a summer green
through my ripped jeans
as the time passes
and the water splashes
my heart starts to warm
my spirit is reborn
grab onto my hand
let’s claim this land
soon you will find
that whatever is mine
your hands can take
my wins and my mistakes
in return I hold your heart
creating an abstract art
filled with love and serenity
protecting it for infinity

Floating days lifted in flight by birdsong,
waiting upon an evaporating cloud
of time and its passing, its trail leaving so soon.

How do I feel on a cloudy day?
Stinging eyes and stained regret,
things that in the Sun I do not fret
about or for.

A staring Sun's gaze burns so softly
upon a man walking the path
towards ever approaching melancholy.

By the evening when it covers the earth softly in a veil of darkness.
As all the colours change, from a bright inviting blue of the heavens,
now softening, losing their glow, as shadows fall beneath the Earth
When the last ray of sunlight has arrived the stars rise in order to claim the sky for themselves, as so does the moon, overshining them.
Vision may shrink due the lack of light, causing many to get anxious if they would have to travel throughout the arrival of the night.
The time to rest has been brought near, but some do choose to stay awake, gazing, observing, watching as the stars above them leave their gentle, slow and most importantly fascinating trail.
Thus for them, the lovers of this declining day, made it their mission to stay awake and admire all the beauty the night serves them.
A time of charming for those who share love, for those who have engaged themselves in the sweet embrace of slumber.
As time goes on I lose myself in this wandering fragnance, until the light of the sun, manages to greet me for a fresh day.

I am Lost…by Jessie 7/05

I’ve walked a narrow path all my life and never veered off the trail
Curiosity my companion; temptation an unwanted guest
Somehow along the way I forgot who was talking
I blinked
Distracted and confused
I slipped
Tumbling down the hill
I stand, to a new trail, a new view, a less understood, and yet a more interesting trail
I’m lost and unable to trace my way back
Not even sure I want to go back? Or do I and don’t know if the trail will be the same?
Stay and wait to be found? Or continue on?
Trying to listen, trying to follow the inner compass
Calling out, soft echoes of yesterday, but the sound is faint
Nothing is working
I am lost
Who will find me first?

As I wait for the inevitability that lurks beyond the horizon,
I wish I could sleep, relax.

As I wait for this torturous life to continue,
I wish I could look beyond, longingly.

As I wait for the tests and trials to come,
I wish I could believe their words of comfort, help.

As I wait for the oncoming storm,
I wish. Hope.
Yup. Procrastinating again. I have and exam tomorrow, but that'll be easy, it's a poetry analysis and CRT, it's the maths exam I'm really worried  about...
We don't have to walk far
Under the cover of canopy
To find exposure.
Once outside the city,
Outside the usual framework,
Outside the boundaries of polite necessity,
We can truly breathe.
On the trail
I bathe in dust
And my hands converse with trees
When asking for support.
Nursing logs remind us
Where we stand
In an ancient cycle,
And we can confess anything.
Stripped down to our bare humanity.
It's the intimacy
I used to chase in pillow-talk,
But without the dance.
The trail is always a soul's journey,
Whether solo or shared.
10/22 Inktober prompt: Trail
George Krokos Oct 2017
Man usually leaves a trail of destruction wherever he goes
and replaces it with construction of that which he knows.
