Happy New Year

The year is over and we like to look back
What did we accomplish and was it on track
Was the plan to finish, a particular thing
Or take on the world with prayer and a swing
Whatever we wished for, I hope we achieved
It's all new tomorrow and are we relieved

How was your year?
FS Antemesaris Dec 2019
In my youthful pride, I forgot how quickly death can take.
How he can come and then be done and leave destruction in his wake.

With bright eyes gleaming, I forgot how dark the night can be.
Then night came, with no stars beaming, and none could the dawn foresee.

Yet it was here, in this darkness, that the light began to shine.
A moment of clarity after a funeral
I know that
for one moment
tomorrow morning

I will have forgotten
this pain

tearing through me
like lightning
through a tree

but after that moment
I will be struck
all over again
I wrote this poem when I lost someone close to me. Yesterday marked one year since he's gone. I've never wanted anyone to read it before, but I feel ready to share it now. Holidays are hard when not everyone is around to celebrate with you. Sending a lot of love to those who miss someone this season<3

Awake or asleep I do not remember my dreams.
Like you I once did dream.
Long since did my dreams abandon me.
Though I know I once dreamt.
I vaguely recall nightmares and I sense I have lived them.
I know the shadows they left and the darkness now, where once dream was possible.
Perhaps it was that I imagined dreams, for my memories recall once believing I was happy.
Or perhaps that is just my dreams reminding me of their death.
I ponder if my dreams... like my memories... are all of my past.
Are they still dreams and is it still dreaming if they are but memories?
Dreams and hopes... is there a future and can there be happiness if all you have is reality? Do we not need dreams in order to lay foundation for our future memories?

If we be a day (today)
let's make tomorrow jealous
sappy
a glare
to pair
my sleeves
with her
now till
midnight as
the river
was in
phase with
the moon
and nigh
the grain
was wet
and newly
together in
scores of
aerobic rites
happy Friday the thirteenth

We tend to see yesterday as an excuse
and tomorrow as an inspiration
to do better.

As dusk falls
and night conquers yet again
I dream of dawn.

Sometimes when I sleep
I pray my eyes won’t start to peak
And see the eyes of tomorrow
Become my future sorrow
