As I drift throughout fits of consciousness,
My soul flutters about the exposed space,
Surrounding me.
Its wings span out and glide gracefully.
Yet, so easily affected by nearing influences,
It instinctually dips low for a means of protection.

But when fear takes charge of its path,
Positives go undiscovered.
Perhaps fear debilitates reaping the potential warmth,
Another is radiating.
Maybe the individual’s soul is imbedded with good intentions.
Maybe the person’s heart is comprised of purity.

With water and air and light passing through your fingers,
You have stacked bricks,
Like butterfly wings,
Back to back,
Around me.
No entry! You shout to all the shadows,
Those that leave me spitting feathers and make my eyes dart,
I like the shadows that you cast,
Your body warm and soft and tracing me,
The shadows that line my garden,
As the ice cream sky breathes,
Bring me slowness,
Just as you do with your rising chest,
And make me better.

The only reason the devil's still alive is because you keep protecting him.
He may have been an angel once but then he fell.
But not for you.

You're like a smoke detector.
A smoke detector without batteries.

You're supposed to warn me, protect me, save me...
You're supposed to be there before the flames engulf me.

But a smoke detector without batteries is only there for show.

I hope the men don't run off and try to see the fear in others,
Hope the women don't gossip like they don't have a care for others,
I hope the kids in school don't have agendas just to pick on others,
This world literally crazy,protect your sisters and brothers,
Putting your **** videos on Worldstar just to see someone bloodier,
Do we really wanna be seen in the history books as histories most violent
Country?
Now come on guys everybody and their mama knows that this country is
Built off money,
a socially awkward economy,

that tells you to obey their policies,
the justice system , are you blind to see,
they **** for no reason , we run out of peace,
as a black man you can't on your two feet,
without getting cascaded with bullets,
whatever hope we get or had in the past just know they're the ones
that took it.
