I was never her air-balloon
     she was always deflating my
words that never took off.

I was grounded never reaching
higher than she wanted me to rise.

My rope that I tried to release,
was tied down with her negative
weight that was pulling me down.

I was grounded never reaching
higher than she wanted me to rise.

I was the  Hindenburg,
she was the static that ignited me..
burning my dreams to ashes on scorched earth...

I was grounded never reaching
higher than she wanted me to rise.

I thought she was an angel, but she was
the devil bringing me lower than I'd
sank before. Could I sink lower than her.

I was grounded never reaching
higher than she wanted me to rise.

But she thought she rose higher till I deflated
              her with home truths.
Now I'm free floating higher now the weight
of my past is released.
I was never afraid to reach new heights
and now I'll float further now I'm free...

In my head again
fighting a battle
I know I can't win.

Shut down or stand up,
never good enough.
Insecurities.

Conceding no more,
hesitation gone,
I've settled the score.

Look in the mirror,
dismiss my disguise.
Fierce and Strong I rise.
Still pretty new to poetry and trying different styles.  This one I believe is called syllabic verse and contains 5 syllables per line.  Thank you for reading hope you enjoy it.  Thank you to all whom love and support me.  Special thanks to my husband, children, brother and friends (S.M., C.H. and anyone else I forgot.)  Thank you C. Love for the revising suggestions and Gretchen Miller for the title.
So you think your life is in ashes
And there is no way out
You thought about splashing
From the bridge of doubt

It's easy to hide from your fears
It takes real courage to stand up
And to fight for what is clear
You just have to make your own luck

We are alive and we are here
Our decisions is what we hold dear
Sometimes they are bad and severe
But we move on and learn to steer

It's easy to fall back into the wrong
The hard part is staying away from it all
Your conscience knew it all along
But your mind didn't make the right call

We can build ourselves back to elevation
For we can be our own inspiration
Who we need can't be any clearer
They're looking back at you in the mirror

Maybe you don't believe in destiny
Could be you don't believe in yourself
In one shining moment you will find clarity
Then you'll encounter your prosperity

So your life is not in ashes
It can be rebuilt only for you
You may have to take some chances
But a fire can be built that burns true

In your heart you know it's there
And it's true that life's not fair
But don't let ashes extinguish your flame
Be a Phoenix and rise from what remains

A caribou tripping on sh-rooms

A lonely poet
casts a line
into the sea

for what is it sir,
you are fishing?

for inspiration,
I suppose
granted magic.
Every night I feel the cold breeze

Being alone, in the quiet, with memories replaying..

An energy that almost downs me to my knees.

Days are filled trying to find another way

In which to be able to finish what I had started

Finding the other hidden heart

To complete this unfinished soul.

I work my creative magic…

The emptiness starts to chew at my imagination

Shards of dread, doubt, and question stab my being like swords

A moment quiet and tragic.

When will these wheels that hold me in the place I’m at

Finally break free from the quicksands of limit and invisibility

Enabling the launch of my message, soul, and ventures

To newer heights of lighted up Electric Visual abilities?

Teach me a new rout that this older ship must sail

the path to a brighter future and calmer waters….

Allow the bonds of circumstance to break and allow this captive soul, freedom.

Before the sands of sorrow drown him on weakened knees that shall falter?

happy or depressed
life is a balancing act
so easy to slip...
moods that fall can rise again
wait for tomorrow's new day

The world is withering like the fallen leaves
I can never tell where upon the terrace field
Of life, exploration. existence and will-
Are we nearing the end of our summit
Or merely crossing the drop of a hill
Ever far from the clouds, fringe of the pit
Are we at the very first rung of the fate wheel
Or are we edging rapidly towards the dip
Are we about to crush are we about to kneel
Are we losing our desperate clawing grips
Am I hearing welcoming drums or is this our knell
Is the thief of time silently vouching to steal
Our last supper our very last earthly meal
Or are we just crouching to brace The Greater Leap
The Rise of Our Fall

Written while on the road, chasing autumn.

Finally a short one this time.

Soar above your pains by coddling them.
Rise above your wounds by embracing them.
Ascend above your sorrows by accepting them!

Intertwine them, hold tight to their emotional charge,
Convert them to positive energy, and
Make them a part of your prayer temple!

Your wound is the place
Where flowers will blossom
With a rainbow of spring colors!

Your pain is the place
Where your cure will emerge
with the birth of a new dawn and renewed purpose!

Your sorrow is the place
Where joy will bud
With a life full of hope and optimism!

your bones
they glow
with galaxies
you have yet to
come to know

and when you sink
the ocean floor
becomes your home

the water finds
a way to seep
out of the corners
of your eyes

to wash away
all of their lies

salt that dances
in your wounds
will carry you
up to the sky

and you will feel
much more alive

so you can breathe
in the sunshine
and realize that
those falls arrived
to help you find
new ways to rise
waves to ride
ways to shine
and realign

My body rises in opposition
To doing things in my best interest
It craves poison
Jagged rocks
And people who don’t love me back
