Discrimination

Knowledge is power, know your history;
Study his story or her story.
Whichever you favour, to choose your reaction;
For illumination, learn about the history of your nation.
For history repeats itself,
So make a change, to help yourself.

Learn what made you, the person you are.
Know your roots, before planting your seed,
Don't let your mistakes, line your history.
Affirmative action will set you free, to ignore the bigotry.

The Afro-American struggle has similarities with your own;
Surely you too, have been persecuted by someone.
Sure maybe on a different scale,
But still persecuted, like the feminist females.

Still treated differently
Because of their thoughts of you.
Their opinion of how you look,
Or what they see you do.
Surely they've closed the door to you too?
And sent you away,
Before hearing your words?

Simply because of the way,
You are perceived to be.
It may have even lead you,
To question the person they see.
They judge you with their power,
Without even knowing you;
But even Einstein looked stupid,
With his mad scientist hairdo.

So follow what you believe, you can really do,
Don't quit because they say,
You can't do the things you wish to.
Prove them wrong, prove yourself right.
Never let them overcome your struggle,
Because nothing good comes easy,
There is always a price.
So is it worth the fight?

The hardest fight you'll have
Is with the demons inside you,
But when you've conquered your inner demons,
Nothing in this world will be able to stop you.

Peace a pressure release. When troubles seem not to cease it becomes imperative that you find your inner peace.

Even if you have to consult a priest for peace is like the golden fleece.
Peace will stop your continual fleeing and promote wellbeing, it's all freeing

Putting you back on course, for it's an excellent resource. Peace goes beyond measure, it's an invaluable treasure.

Whereas, we are quick to ignore good instruction while being easily lured into the world's seductive, suduction and find ourselves on the path to imminent destruction.

Then your path looks distance and distorted, with life making you so mad you feel you want to abort it. Still you fight your way clear to the junction, instead of relief, there awaits disorder, dysfunction.

But before you have a malfunction at the junction, seek your inner peace, it's increase in health, in wealth and it will align body, soul and mind.

All worries will cease through peace. So why isn't this a press release?

Trying it on first to see if it fits
Is probably the right way to go
And testing the waters an even better option
Sometimes love resides in the second wave
Watch the tide test the waves

I wish you could understand how I feel
Realize that emotions aren't something I conceal
Although we've been together awhile
Can't quite pinpoint what makes you smile

I do not enjoy being misunderstood
What in my life has ever been good?
Tell myself I wasn't hurt before
But I have suffered a broken heart and more

I've changed, I'll never be the same
At least I know how to play life's game
I just want to learn and discover your past
So we actually make this last

I'm human.
I'm extremely selfish, saying things I don't really mean,
And not saying the things that I mean.
I'm not observant, and I don't know how
To make people happy, how to fit into society,
And how to show my love to those I care about most.
I'm often grumpy, out of sorts, and sad,
Not finding happiness in things everyone else finds happiness in.
What can I say?
I'm human.
I can say what I want to through writing,
And use my written words to express myself.
I have enormous love and compassion,
And finding ways to show it will be a learning experience
I can have throughout my life.
Even though I can be sad, I also have a
Tremendous ability to be happy, joyful, and
To do things that fulfill that happiness.
What can I say?
I'm a beautiful human.

We sit as children on paper with crayons.
The timing too perfect, as soon we will learn.
Sifting through albums of family photos,
we struggle, endure; tomorrow we must fight-
for semblance of self in uncertain future.
The reflection we see tells "truth" to our eyes.

Frantic, we hope someone will see through our eyes,
see the artwork we’ve crafted with our crayons.
We fall wayward as they continue their fight.
But were we not supposed to be their future?
Onward, we find, only refusal to learn,
and they hope to be remembered in photos.

Happily we sat in booths, taking photos.
Love for each other, blooming shutter of eyes;
snapping so clearly: destiny, the future.
Making love through the pain, we began to learn:
Romance is like the colors of our crayons;
Red passion, blue tears, green envy, the black fight.

And from gray ashes, we gained strength from the fight.
Made a history of our lives through photos.
Our own child is coming. So much she will learn.
In her tiny grasp, she’ll struggle with crayons.
Let’s color a better image for her eyes;
help her discern a multicolored future.

For we have reckoned our own troubled future,
must be rife with the educational fight,
lest we forget our past: black and white crayons.
We’ve witnessed the agony, beauty through eyes,
deceived that the past is happy as photos,
as though there was nothing more for us to learn.

As for our beauty, she’s but begun to learn
that always we’ve waited for her, our future.
The love we’d not gotten, sadness in our eyes.
Thankful we are, to have learned from the photos,
to muster our strength and our love for the fight.
Imagine the hue she’ll paint with her crayons.

Remember to learn, that we must also fight.
Leave behind your photos. Look to the future.
Behind those eyes, do you remember crayons?
This is my first attempt at writing a sestina poem. This is for my wife and daughter.

Is your house in order or do you keep running for the boarder? Maybe you're a life hoarder?

Like so many others, do you feel your world is shrinking, with a feeling like you're sinking.

So you reach for a bottle and start drinking which only brings about stinking thinking.

And you know things have gone awry when people's conversations are only about me, my and I.

As things are being swept under the rug and we look for our happiness in drugs. If that's what you prefer, your house is completely out of order.

Whatever your situation, seek immediate salvation because if you look at the world and look at the times, you can't help but see the unmistakable warning signs.

For time grows short and we'll be judged by the highest court. So if you believe somethings amiss and you want to stay out of the abyss.

Then it comes down to this. If your life is straight. See you at The Pearly Gates.

If your life is fair, it could use a little repair but you're pretty much square.

But if your life's a mess it needs to be addressed because you are in danger of being hurled into the Netherworld.

Time to stop being a hoarder, tucking tail and running for the boarder, take a stand and get your house in order.

Spoilt little *****
Demanding this and demanding that.
Take advantage of a situation.
Make the unexpected the norm.
Care the alms, care the hand,
for arms and hands are what you'll lose.
Benevolence and generosity
are treated as weaknesses, flawed characters being nice.
Smiles are kind, faces glowing, eyes, testing.
Be clear of your intent of kindness.
Once off, no expectations.
I'm ******* angry at this horse ****!
Note to self
Without creativity we lose the flame.

Without sincerity we lose the humane.

Without poetry we forget past pain.

Without pain we never gain.

Without knowledge we only remain, and never break from restrain.

With growth we finally free the brain.
