Beauty of Another Kind
Lennox Jones Jan 2015
If you see the beauty in everything,
the beauty of everything is in you too.

When you can do you begin to
affect those that see no beauty
at all.

And the beauty about that is, you
don’t even know you’re doing it.

Falling
Lennox Jones Dec 2014
How could I ever wash away
my thoughts of you,
the smell of you,
what my skin does from
the touch of you.

How could I ever not
wake to the sound
of your breath, your
rhythm, awash me.

How could I ever make
sense of this world without
falling in love with you.

How could I ever have known
before you, there was such
a thing as a falling with no landing.

Do What You Will
Lennox Jones Dec 2014
Let’s cut down that tree,
and strip it of it’s bark.

Take that axe and hack
every limb until we hear
only the sound of crushed
leaves beneath our boots.

I am one of many, my
seeds have met the soil.
It will take much more
than that to stop
the giving of oxygen.

So much more than an axe
to stop us reaching for the Sun.

Just Let Go
Lennox Jones Dec 2014
Don’t let each day
And the woes at play
Carve out wrinkles on your face

Take time to breathe
and plant a seed
of a much more peaceful place

It’ll take some will
To get perfectly still
Where the mind stops running the show

Once you get there
Acknowledge the fear
Observe your breath, and just let go.

The Clearing
Lennox Jones Dec 2014
Things fell away like
leaves from a tree.
Long nights, elusive dawns.
Then out of nowhere,
you appeared.
The world wasn’t
caving in after all.
Just a clearing of space
for something new to emerge.

Smokey Nights
Lennox Jones Dec 2014
Smokey nights behind fly screen filters
Torn in one corner, what the use?
It creaks every time you enter,
clangs shut when you leave.
The time will come
when I’ll get a new one.
One that won’t creak or clang -
who’ll, fix that ******* door.
Someone who’ll never leave,
and write me
poetry.

HOPE
Lennox Jones Mar 2015
Each day and the choices we make bring about our reality.
Just because you can’t see it, can’t touch it, doesn’t mean it’s not there. Keep chasing the light, chasing the dream and make it real.

The naysayers will neigh, that’s why they have long faces.

Will You Wait
Lennox Jones Jan 2015
I will wait for you
under the stars,
in the rain,
on dry desert plains…

I will wait watching the haze
of a date palm mirage,
where promise lies,
taunting.

I’ll wait for you,
no matter what,
no matter how long.

Question is:
Will you wait for me or
will you simply move on?

The Intersection
Lennox Jones Feb 2015
How could I ever have known when we first met it would end up like this.

I remember pulling up at the lights next to car with a guy and girl in it just like us. Except they weren’t talking or laughing at all. They both sat there staring into space, each with a distant look on their face.

“I hope we don’t end up like them,” I said.
“Like what,” you asked.
“Like their love has run out of things to say.”
“Maybe they’re just waiting for the lights to turn green.”
“Maybe. I guess that’s one way of looking at it.”

Don't Know What I'd Do
Lennox Jones Nov 2014
Sometimes you are like that stone wedged in the tread of my sole.
Sometimes you are like that fly that keeps coming back.
Sometimes you are like 8.30am Monday morning.
Sometimes you are like the day after, a big night out.

But most of the time you are like summer is to spring,
winter is to autumn.
Most of the time you are like water is to thirst,
the sun to the earth.
Most of the time you are like a leaf is to a tree,
the air I need to breathe
Most of the time you are like stars are to night,
a bird is to flight.
Most of the time you are the one
that makes sometimes so unnecessary.

Piece by Piece
Lennox Jones Nov 2014
All is not lost if you lose
your way and become broken,
a longing to tear open the sky.

Piece back the shards, one by one,
until you are whole again.

Start over, love finds the darkest corners,
so you can smile at the times
you have tried, but cried,

Your Eyes
Lennox Jones Dec 2014
I saw the Universe—
flowers opened before the morning Sun.
     The Moon smiled rolling aimlessly
through the night sky, and the
Sun cast its own shadow at your feet.

Rivers ran uphill to meet the rain
while oceans stayed high for longer.
     Trees swayed to windless days.
Night became day, day became night.

And the clouds, they swirled
against blue hues that ran forever.
And I— I stood in awe of
what I saw when I looked
     in to your eyes.

Nothing
Lennox Jones Mar 2015
sometimes i sit down
at my laptop or typewriter
and nothing happens.
that’s all we ever want isn’t it –
something to happen?

Then it comes in trickle
Then into a flood
Sometimes it’s love
Sometimes it’s blood

mostly it’s you that
runs through my veins
that spurts from my wrists
and on to the page

all it takes sometimes
is to just let it be.
a world without you
there would be no me

and through all of the
waiting for something
to happen, i’ve found
out of the nothing
always comes something.

FLIP OF A COIN
Lennox Jones Mar 2015
some flippant tongue
tosses your name in the air
like a ***** old coin.

i feel it’s like autumn.
vivid hues, the scent of rain
and leaves falling to the ground.

don’t ever speak that way of her,
don’t ******* your
values to gain a few more friends
a few more laughs,
your too old, too wise for that.

they come and go, just like
leaves into winter.
be gentle with her name,
let it slide from your mouth,
and slip all the way into spring.

she’ll stick by your side right
through summer and beyond,
like friends often do when
you speak of them nice.

KATIE
Lennox Jones Feb 2015
It goes like this:

One day you feel lost. You have strayed from the path, and when you look up you don’t know where you are. But something within pushes you on. So on you go; no reason, no rhyme, and with no real destination in sight.

Farther on you meet someone. A stranger, and for some mysterious reason you feel more connected to this person than anyone else. There is something about them you’ve never encountered before.

In the beginning you arrive early and leave late, wishing you never have to leave at all. You think you know what it is about them that makes you want to be with them all the time. But you don’t, you’ve not yet seen below the surface. Then you see that they are kind, and they are compassionate, they are generous and loving. It’s like they have come to you for some higher purpose; to reveal to you what you fail to see in yourself; like an Angel. You feel that the deepest part of them, is the deepest part of you.

The day comes when you know without question why you love them. With them, overtime, you find out what loves is, and what love is not.

Then one day you realise that the stranger you met, when you strayed from the path, is the destination. You just had to lose yourself to find them so you could create the path together.
To my amazing girl.

Blow Them Away
Lennox Jones Dec 2014
there’s always so much that i want to say,
but society makes me keep it at bay.

what will they think if i blurt out that
check this out what a truck load of crap

instead i’ll sit quietly at the back and just listen
and keep what i know in case they all start trippin

then someone said, just let it all go.
you might help someone out you don’t even know

she said don’t let others rule over you
the battle is lost and won within you.

so, if you have something to say
say it with love and blow them away.

Lennox Jones Dec 2014
Even the floor board from the hallway
creaks in delight when you
step upon it,
patiently waiting, hoping
your sole will
move silently
across it once more.

Step on me endlessly
and let our body’s creak
to remind the floorboard
of where you are
and you are coming.

leach from the

your soul

I am that
