"underbelly" poems
Stalingrad- Germany wanted control, But they weren't going to get it. Silly men, Unaware that they would freeze to the bone In those harsh Russian mountains. Is oil worth it? Torch- the British thought it was a simple plan. It was, but barely. The soft underbelly, The Mediterranean to France, through Italy? Kick the Axis out of North Africa? Piece of cake. D-Day- a finale? Maybe. The ships and planes at the ready, A possible surprise. Parachutes And men on foot storming the beaches of Normandy. Shots fired, push east where they belong. Coming from the North and South. Cinch like a corset Strings are drawn against the axis. Good luck holding up your empire in this day and age.

You must understand my fear As I grow closer to you dear No more bite or insurrection You penetrate the armour Hard covers but tender underbelly Be gentle in your stroke Blisters fester Red welt of swollen lips Let the blood fall as it may Unafraid You are the light in my everyday Slither hither & crawl over blistering heat You seek, you sting Sharp penetrating glance Venom glistens like the dewdrop Do drop & Let drop the droplets Wet hard the mind **** Chittering madness Stinger in brain Dark obsidian, your poison sings Your back Glistens shiny. Your armour penetrating dance Brings me back Tail quivers Knees weak Crawl to me The strike The sting Your poison venom The venom inside me No antidote or logic No rhyme or reason Your venom sings sound gone Mind blown Eyes blind and heart bleeding I am your zombie baby Obey me Tease me Play with me Seize me Sting me Again and again.

Scorpion’s Sting, Love’s infection
Tip Your hat And curtsy low The masses so mandate absolute guile A handshake, a smile, a proper and refined bow! To adorn thy head and semble wit And do your best! Take pride with etiquette If not informed Ye won't last a mile And differentiation between animals distinguishes you, Resplendent child Wash your hair and underclothes with soap Lest ye resemble sow And goodness dear Have I forgotten now? Always remember to smile! So I'll take your Winter clothes with zest I'll scramble on point No unruly mess Oh, did i forget your coat? No, I've got it, relax, care for a smoke? My apologies, please forgive my latency It must be warm in here for my blood In fact... Boiling over kettle within Prevent me from committing sin I do wish to vent Pick up this pen And release red wells from his dainty, fragile neck Or... The underbelly. It's beknownst to me entrails are thick Now whatever shall I do with this fresh clutter? I'll act for free, so cordially! With my chivalrous lines But can you, my friend, respond in kind? After all, it's only common courtesy It's over now, my fantasy It dissipates with urgency And this is my confession Yes Imbibed in me from every grueling, tedious lesson An implication of uniformity The daydreams borne from the perfunctory

Daydream From August 11th, 1843
Cockcrow harbour: the gulls whining like tethered dogs about rooftops paliophobic cars and grounded vessels.. Look: on the hoary horizon a glaucous strip beguils with backwater. Not putting on a show the frigid sea benumbed.. Easily, with a tail of emerald jelly skim a vanishing lane off that lustrous sheet and watch the trailblazing mainland scuttle. Now, Only scattered dreaming is possible. In it's bachelor pad, cradling over crinkles, away from the meretriciosness of validating the real by sharing it, THE WIND blusters off any veneer. Here, stale but spry, fare your way around the inoffensive isle to it's most shyest of harbours: a mouth full of silver saving it's breath. The windows facing the sea seem black & white, their wooden frames hooked to the wind, the splattered gulls meow your name in a way that's personal. Of course comes to mind. The pines are demanding a visit, They're whispering so you can hear them, each as different as every snore, these pines know how to grow in the sand and still reach for the Nimbostratus with heads in unison. The spaces between their trunks illuminating the blazing needles raining down painting the ground familiar to your lover's skin texture: Feel her closeness from jilted borderwatchtowers as she speads her mire like no one's watching: weedy and sugared with bellflowers, the waves in her shallow armpit billeting a pair of white swans: demurely they float sometimes as pillows and sometimes as question marks.. Go ask the seasoned locals, they say the bones she parked when she let her ice sheet melt are portals to her noble underbelly. Hidden in the woods reminiscent of your heart, the red tank-sized stone is sealed, but what the lighting reach cannot the rain shall sluice apart dumbly. And though her hair has come to be the moss black and hoarse as sailor's beard, there is still time. The void says her noisy neighbour is nothing to die for. The theadbear car with absent doors incites to drive her in reverse gear to the first few days of holidays: her golden locks a-blaze, her arm around your hind-sighted doppelganger.

I don't like this skin of vulnerability, to show my softened underbelly and to take off the masks of all my lies. I don't like to let people get so close, to reveal my inner temple to them and to show them the chants of my priests. I am a person who hides within riddles metaphors puns and jokes, I am a person who would rather be a bad joke book than be a real person, full of every emotion and even allowed to cry a little, sometimes. Maybe sometimes it doesn't have to be the downpour of rain or a temple constructed in my veins or the man who pounds me until pain or the city lost in spires of smoke and bane sometimes it can just be the tears of a 19 year old thing sick and heavy hearted and so very, very confused and so very, very in need of warmth

Summer was ******* on sugarcane and cinnamon peels handed from your grandparents, occasionally mine when our roller-skates made love to cracks in the sidewalk our knees were drunk on its feathers so many specks of moss get caught in there, too you taught me not to cry or have that formaldehyde-chugging look until I hit the bunkbed; your sheets made my sweat look so much worse we got anything we could want. I wanted to kiss you when your wore your Popsicle lipstick, a freeze cracking the crib of your mouth and circling buzzards around. But how does a girl say she would rather have someone than a cigarette stick of candy from the ice cream man – the ones she would twirl like cherry stems and feign middle school maturity? We would whisper about things at night with the lamp off, our pants down but never ever love: love is for adults. Love is Mardi Gras in the city not powdered sugar from beignets or the kind of beads you settle around your neck. I wanted to be the bayou you swam in, cast your fishing pole at the underbelly of and counted how many seconds it took to lift back up. I wanted to be a chest you put your personal belongings in, a treasure box. Most of all, I wanted to be your personal belonging the treasure you immediately thought of – but that is not what Summer was.

Her ribs crackled, in the skeleton night. And I remember my mouth on hers, where atomic fish hooks attached our lips. Where there was nothing like kissing like our God wasn't dead. She was accused of killing a taxi driver in the Brazilian underbelly. Smoking a cigarette, she dropped it on the ground, spat on it, and crushed it with her bare foot, saying she fell in love with the way his sleep-drenched body lay. And I told her to stay home. And I told her that they'd find her. But she didn't stay home. And they did find her. Chasing her through the Babylon brush, insults were thrown and so were balloons of gasoline. Each pink, yellow, and green vessel floated in the air, as an internal opera heightened. And sour splashes spread across her body, as she fled from the vigilante mob. The children danced along the panoramic horizon she ran beside, laughing, pointing, singing. The slumbering sorrow of the situation became evident, and she started to feel the calm of fleeting life. Her dreams aborted and her ideals became fallacies, and with the sound of fuzzy motors in the background, her heart leapt and her feet slipped. Rope ate into her, wrapping her like the orphaned recklessness of each set of eyes that painted her. She squirmed amongst the cheers. She cried with every thrown beer and balloon. The empty-eyed males gang ***** her. The women covered the children's eyes, and the children tried to move their mothers' hands. And I pushed my way through the crowd. And I saw her smothered in blood, beer, and gasoline. I wanted to halt the hurricane that destroyed morality. But I am a coward. Frozen by my fear, I, too, am a murderer. And a murderer I'll always be, for the burning of all that was good. Sudden flames soared towards the sky. Laughter escaped as molotov cocktails exploded onto her body. Her head turned towards the crowd, as flames scampered across her face. I saw in her, what I never saw before, which was the human race.

O' Helios' Back arched in regal Blue, bows into pillar puffed petrichor Amethyst warred in the underbelly, verdant memories of waning night swore legendary red, o're musk of organdy blushed brightly pink an awakening sky. Daffodils and dandelions lean into the chariots wind... sans the sounds of summer's sweet, eulogies weep over Endymion's eyes. Cardinal night, closes his door morning will sing a yawn in symphony... and into the grey goose dawn, fifty more daughters are born.

Ancient Selene Cardinal
Making love is the city of ruin. The worst kind of fog captures it, a fog where the streetlights are not pushing out light into the right places. Light falls only on the glossy mercedes and it's rims full of hope and wealth. The skyscrapers reach the sky and finger the underbelly of an afterlife, as if there is something to look forward to. The buses transport souls and promise, or seem too. But this is all a lie, the lights only create light, darkness grows, the skyscrapers touch the sky, yes, but they don't know a thing about goodness, and the buses are full of hopelessness. But when we make love, it is like we are only looking for the good things in the city as we get robbed blind. When I touch your belly button, I can feel your heart in your stomach, so low and so unwanting that it dropped to a place of digestion, of eating what we had and ******** it out. It is ok to realize this untruth late in the game, it is wrong to continue when we know of the untruth, and that is what we are doing, that's why I hate you and still **** you. I love the city, in its ruinous returns I keep fooling myself into thinking this is the best thing that's ever happened to me. Your ***** must be the greatest, because I'll never leave even when we call making love a city of hope when we **** and it's a dystopia of destruction.

I lied.
A ripened sky splits and bleeds Mangled reds and blacks; An instant melts as heat from Clustered newborn suns -- Blistered from the wounds -- Collects and beams 1600 feet Earthwards from Fat Man's Plump and pompous underbelly. The pure-light pin-prick stopped The city's pulse for a moment; Collecting remnants of the Beating hearts (of artists, Doctors, students, parents, Preachers, rats, and peasants) To plant on rotting soil - A hellish fungal pustule. The swelling abscess breathed But once and burst to Ripple excess outwards Soaking up the landscape; Ingesting miles and spewing Spores towards septic skies to form A mass of mushroomed Might and pyrrhic triumph.

Cultivated Ruin
She tips the toppling tide, lavish underbelly of an albatross, and how she rides. Each wave washing its imposing self to shore, more, glorious more, this gasping February seashore. Tufts of feathers flutter and dune grasses dance muster, must hold ons, this rallying of  the determined. Grace notes, song of nature swim in. Melody of gull, harmonious tension broken. Her flight brings tears. She is gone. Will she weather? For now perhaps, but not long.

An empty pub is the worst place to be, In a city, Where even gods stay a bit longer every year, Perhaps persuaded by the halcyon laughter of that half dressed street urchin, Who has learnt to celebrate her comical existence, In the pregnant underbelly of a false saint, Who refuses to give birth to anything but naked poverty. Small wonder the gods have never chosen to intervene in the city of joy, After all its the fault of these urchins who refuse to abandon their filthy smiles, And have the audacity to peak through the walls that we annually paint, With the victorious colours of human values. But why do they peek, Isn't their world filled with the unmatched profoundness of black and white photography? Isn't their world the home to poetic muses and romantic poverty ? Indeed, why do they peek ? Before the label on the bottle in front of me, Makes you judge the potency of what I utter, Let me tell you why. For them our world is a constant theatrical which has run different shows annually, Yet the only complaint they have perhaps is that the genre of the shows, Have somehow never changed. Its always been the darkest of satires, Like the running satire in which half our society, Sitting safe within the beautiful walls , We built around our indomitable prosperity and culture , Indulges, In the hysterical condemnation of a man, Who wants to build a beautiful wall on a different continent . To protect the same You know, I don't speak urchin-tongue, But I have always had the gift to read feelings I shouldn’t, And something tells me the urchins have titled this theatrical, “Moral ************ But that’s not all, An empty pub is the worst place to be in a city which refuses to let you give up hope, And gently reminds you with every drink That even when the rest of the world is out there dancing, To the drum beats of happy endings and ephemeral farewells, There’s one place that will never close its doors on you. The only thing is. The place isn’t the home you never ended up building with her, It’s just an empty pub. And that is why an empty pub is the worst place to be.

about pictures of bears without any fur, and they look horrendously terrifying. Like ****** space gorillas you see in poorly done sci-fi movies. Do you think panda bears are still the cutest bear without any fur? I wonder if dragons get lung cancer from all the smoking they do. I'd rather think about a hairless panda bear breathing fire--it's jaws sinking into the underbelly of a mortally wounded dragon and as it starts munching on the dragon pancreas, it accidentally sneezes causing it's lunch to incinerate to ashes. That's probably why dragons are extinct. Hairless panda bears donned armor, riding horses; questing to eat dragon pancreas. They also thought amor prevented lung cancer. It was the middle ages, people or animals didn't have modern technology to explain diseases, let alone where babies came from. Except for dragons, and look at how their species turned out. **** I'm throwing my phone in the toilet right now.

This morning i was thinking
Your soul is like your fingers Such calloused hands How rough you are How abrasive you can be Doesn't measure up To the toughness of your heart I admire your resiliency My only wish is that You would soften up to me Know it's okay to get cuts and scratches And even to show off your scars Show me your sensitive underbelly Trust me enough to fall asleep next to me Like how animals sleep tummy side up When they feel safe Shed your hard layers Feel my gentle interior Know that it will always be Okay.

In Parsley, a Levantine munificence accreted together in Tabbouleh, herbage that covers fractured bedrock in a poultice of healing. Secreted within, lie igneous outpourings of bloodied tomatoes, those solid affections that had welled through an ocean floor as Neptune quelled Gaia's contractions, her waters seeking to burst beneath the wrinkled surface of a salty sea. She, an underbelly of sky, pregnant in the overwhelm of magma, sweating out her heart in fire, muted like a moon of Neptune, in his retrograde soliloquies, yet mirroring hers in icy resurfacings of skin. The God of the Sea, boils an amnion to hazy mists, how deep will his trident plunge to dislodge those Trojan ships of deceptions ? Yet, Triton blows a conch for Gaia, not for man's duelling and his warring tribes. He soothes her feverish gnashing of thighs labouring continents. Some fires burn in water, like desultory heartbeats moving the pace of rocks through the ocean floor, spiriting away to stranger places still, marking maps of memories in the beauty of a stillborn magma. The limestone they say is no blood relation to such alien fructification, those oceanic intruders, bleeding still, spilling secrets in reds and purples. The acid tears spilled in lemons merely neutralised in syllables, sedimented to a community of limestone, that possess no archaic remnants reminiscing through dead bones, an age of glory. Now beauty lies in herbage over once raucous magma and traces of a salty sea, freshness of life trailing her veins, in fragrance of Parsley

Breathes through A broken lung, Gray air slithering in like A snaking, sneaking Through the street gutters And down into a seedy underbelly. From above, You can see overpasses sprawling Like swollen organs— Cracked pavement, Wet cement, Heavy traffic. In the thick of things Is where the real soul Lies: Children playing hide and seek in Thickets of rain and mud, Damp yellow teeth brightening Ashen faces, Light feet doggedly dancing.

How about we explore and expose the underbelly of our drunken tongues I want to fall in love with your ugly and forget why once morning has begun

Countdown
My love is the shape of canine teeth and claw marks I leave around your neck, the way I leave poems decaying in an unforgiving landfill — the gods have turned away in disgust as I sit and lick, like a rabid dog, the maggots chipping away from the inside — the entrails of my grief, all pulled out without mercy, without a deathbed confession, without a god to listen. I long for something else to unfold; something sacred and beautiful when you turn my body inside out, but lo. This is as deep and far as we go. Tell me, I beseech, does my filth look better inside out, uncovered, on display, penetrating your very skin? Take what you need, love, they are all yours — my sins, my wounds, my impiety in exchange for your darkened heart — I’ll spit it out and swallow it back down to my underbelly where no one can ever take it — not you, not the gods, not their fallen, forsaken angels. Forgive me — forgive me, forgive me, forgive me. Forgive my unforgiving hands, forgive my unforgiving poems if our sick, twisted, defilement is all they ever know.

Putrescence
Fissures cut through thick mocha fur, saturating The forest floor with stark crimson. The deer flails, Broken, knees buckled, breath shallow and emerging As vanishing steam in frosty November air. He falls on a bed of sugar maple leaves, illuminated In dappled sunlight and fulvous hues. “Must’ve been the coyotes,” my brother whispers, As my pocketknife meets the stag’s throat. Gentle Auburn clouds and freezes time, the body falls still. My father says, “Sacrifice is a form of worship, but it is only through Mercy that we may show passion for what we believe.” Coyote bites prevent carvings from going to Buxton’s General Store, But what nature produces it also receives. Ants forage along the split underbelly, And a red-tailed hawk carries away the entrails. History defines the antlers of deer as symbols of the Gods, And men would wear them atop their heads. I collect only them, still draped with threads of velvet, Knowing that years from now, nestled inside the perimeter Of wind-beaten fences around the family farm, beyond Moss-covered slopes and the Wishing Rock, Will be the bones of a solitary stag.

Mercy
she disappeared into the shadows of the night, skimming through the uproarious parties like stone across the lake until she sunk into the gruesome arms of another man behind my sleeping back. and there he was, pounding away like some big dumb animal at something I held sacred as if bonds were meant to be broken and boundaries were made permeable and there she was, taking it, loving it, enjoying it, doing it to spite me and knowing it would hurt. and there I was, the last to know in the dark circles of whispering secrecy it’s the all-too-familiar cycle of passion and appetite; swallowed by the underbelly of lust and tormented by the foretaste of my presence I can’t blame them, I can’t blame myself, it’s only nature taking its course. and I can’t say this is written about anyone specifically, when it happened far too many times.

playing the field
it was time to sow the seed, stitch the old me to the present me, and breathe, release all this anxiety, tension tightening the grip, strapped around my throat, around my hopes, the me I've missed, burn white candles, lay out my stones, rewrite the misery, untie the history, reach closer to the underbelly's guise, mystery, why I've lived through the eyes of others, flies, gnats, and dead meat, there is no me there, just blurred scribbles, hopes for sunshine, trying to be something realer

Body Comb
The wind blew, Monster Frog Rock sat high and dry Baring his soft white underbelly Where Old One-eye Bob the Bass Napped on summer afternoons Back when the cities did not drink so much water. The wind blew, A flock of four fowl dived And herded dragon-flies to Where the trout out jumped the carp For the sapphire quad-winged engineering miracles. All in all, a great day fishing at Lake Morena. The trout chose dragon-flies over Walmart eerie-descent Power Bait. No loss, over all, a net gain. No bait spent for nothing, No time wasted, No hope lost.
