I have forgotten the greatest idea
the most powerful words
the most cherished memory.

I curse my brain for allowing me to lose them,
to let the images slowly fade away.

I curse it for taking away
what I loved and treasured
for so long.

And yet
isn’t it the same thing
that gave me those memories
created those words
formed those ideas?

Isn’t the very thing I’m cursing
what I should be treasuring
the most?

Our days roll away like dropped coins.
Individual moments are continually lost,
Often never to be reflected upon again.
But the epochs of a full life remain,
Safeguarded by the cushions of our couch,
Waiting for when we are in need of a treat.

I am no Pirate to you.
I am no thief.
I am to you what you are to me.
Treasure.

A Goddess to I.
A Treasure to thee.
Those Sapphire Eyes;
Can never lie to me.

Forever immortalised in my poetry.
Once a Muse, always a muse.
For a muse doesn't die.
A muse, like a volcano: sleeps.

Seeking to be awakened.
Seeking the Robins to embrace the cold winter.
Seeking the Sparrows to wonder the oceans.
Seeking the Sirens to sing sweet melodies.

A Muse is an un sinkable ship.
Holding tight to its treasure.
Protected by its Goddess.
Drifting slowly along the current.

He looked at me,
The way the sky looks at the rain,
Waiting for patiently for the relief.
Hands intertwining around my waist like vines,
Every touch felt.
Warm lips pressed against mine that has been worn.
Heal them I say as if they have been broken so many times before.
I love you,
I love you.
Our love is inevitable.

Greed has a way of corrupting

It can be disrupting

Greed drives some mad

And others to do bad

Greed weaves its way

Deep into your heart

Until one day

You fall apart

Some say money

Can buy happiness

I find that quite funny

Because for many it leads to unhappiness

People throw their relationships away

Just to get more gold

Your life has no replay

So why waste time on gold before you're old

Money is useless

It does nothing but harm

It condemned Judas

Much to his alarm

Love of money goes nowhere

It only leads to dark paths

Where you can hardly breathe air

And are thrown onto rafts

Greed has a way of corrupting

It can be disrupting

Greed drives some mad

And others to do bad

And many to be sad

And none to be truly glad
A poor room homed me in the childhood
With cold stone walls and a leaky stove;
Some days were spent under cover
With a hoody, a hat and pair of glove.

Nathless, there was no poverty of food;
My mother managed well the stew
With rice, potatoes and some carrots,
Her care cook'd a lot out of few.

Beside, the careless neighbours stood
With a lil bowl of sugar and eggs,
Trading on a sip of juice for gossips,
Paying the fee of the one who begs.

Way-outie, we were never even gloomy;
Despite the days of water and light off,
Mother managed the waves of hardship
Like the sailor's star never falling off.

Is a grace of God, the unfortunate broom
In which I scarce tasted thick happiness?
Sugar tastes sour after golden honey;
For rich, my treasure was unhappiness.

I enjoyed the oxford blue sky of the moon
While mom sweeped the streets for stubs,
I jumped up moon-high finding pennies
Far away the parties' hubhubs.

What a pity I feel now, for all the poor
Who had money, goods and no misery;
They know nothing what is life like,
But for true rich, life itself is glittery.

the stars above and below
are one of the parts of you
that you’ve given to me
Erin Esterberg Aug 2019
In your eyes, I find a map,
And so far it has led me past the stars
Into a galaxy of happiness and joy,
Through my own heart and into yours,
And it has showed me
Our love is a universe,
Expanding and compounding continuously,
Forever.
But this expedition has brought me no treasure to display in my trophy case
And that just wont cut it anymore.
So for now-
I'll just head back up to the stars.
Perhaps I'll find you there too.
