Dante Algheri Nov 2018
A place unknown, to return again,
A criminal racked with guilt.
Shrouded in the light of sin,
His conscious stained with filth.

He wraps himself in linen hold,
He steals a loaf of bread.
The owner of the cloths gone cold,
And the baker's all but dead.

No cheating, nor chasing, nor any rigged racing
Can help a man's soul feel complete.
His feet may rest, but his mind still pacing
He ducks to an alley from street

He's had his fill of bread, but the outside worlds lacks depth
He finds a place to rest his head, decides to catch his breath

I've taken sleeping pills
So I can close my eyes
And dream about you
So I can rest and sense your
presence next to me
So I can dream of what
we could be
So my mind can wonder
and find you
So I can hold your hand
and embrace you
I've taken sleeping pills
For this will be the closest
I'd get to you
Because us, being one
Is just a possibility
—i just love you, im going mad

wanted rest
wanted loneliness but
nobody but nobody
but no one was going
give it to me

wanted rest
wanted solitude
but no one ever
never and never
not to give and not to give

turn off the alarm
and don't get up anymore
never get up again
and never and never
forever to be in the same dreams

I'm simply two dozen spins around the sun
Empty shadow among the crowd
With a broken spirit, wounded heart
Beautiful hesitant head is bowed.

I bring tragedies to comforting nightfall
Stories cling to my chest
Longing to connect, afraid to trust at all
Tired but sleep refuses to give rest.
When you're so tired you can't sleep hahaha
In quiet cessation of lauding
the lover bows his head, seeks
his simple lover's skin, meek
Wants only to touch, body to body
After a long and gruelling day, by
rain or by sunny shine, needing
only him, not what the lover has
or can bring but what he is - his lover
Dim, as night approaches but the day
Has just started for these two, awake
Taking each second, taking the other
in, slowly in, laughter, smile, causes
As the food cools, they sit, in jest
talk of the happenings, while away
Now cradling each other, by eyes
Meeting, glancing, not shy, wanting
The day is fast but their hearts beat
In sync, slowly, but fast, then slowly
Again, beat as lovers' hearts beat
Quiet noise, excited, longing
But impatiently patient, needy
But knows no need to rush
They have their whole lives
To spend, on tired, on busy,
On lazy, on happy, on rainy days
As today, as tonight, as every day
So long as him and his lover love
One another, and by work's end
Come home to catch up, and on
Each other, lay their day, start to rest.

the colours are more vivid than I remember,
Reds, oranges and yellows dance across the sky,
Clouds brushing past in awe hoping to pick up the hues of sunset,
Dance,
Dancing,
Watch,
Watching time has come and gone,
The stars ask if I’ve had the time of my life,
...I have
The best way to spend my final day.
Now eternal rest.
I hope the last day is a day of peace, joy and reflection. On both the positive and negative and understanding that our stories can influence the future generation. We know nothing about what the future holds but what we do know is that it holds the hopes and dreams of the newborns.

Rest upon my heart O God
And teach me how to rest in yours

Everyday I swear is a hassle to just get up,
but it never stopped you from getting the mountains.
I cry and whine but really I'm just walking my mile for the first time.

Though my shoes are already,
seems like my gear is always falling off.
Trying so hard to keep it steady
I look at your directions on what you did but can't seem to see how you did it.

I see you napping on the bench
Right where he used to let watch cars go by.
His bus finally picked him up
So you decided to take his place and take a break.

So while you rest and replan your task's
I'll be on the side calling out your name.
Cause you set an example and set a route for me.

I'll run my course and set it out right
Pass the torch and send the map
Rest,
Can,
Man,
I will make this right so they can run their course with a guide.
