You wake up in the middle of the night and
You realize that the person next to
You is not
Your co-pilot anymore and that even though
You are flying in the same direction,
Your destination might not be the same.

You realize that
You are in parallel planes,
Your former “co-“ is now a grown-up pilot who wants to push all the buttons that
You wouldn’t wanna push, who decides to leave
You hanging in the sky, without
Your safety net or parachute.

The world is full of pilots,
but few good co-pilots.

i guess this is it
you've said your last goodbye
i guess this is it
time for you to fly

i want to beg you to stay
ask you to jump off the plane and run
straight into my arms
where it all begun

instead i put on a brave face
and kiss you goodbye
promise you it'll be well & good
hoping my words aren't a lie

once you're gone, i can't help but break
inside i can't feel my heart beat
i miss your smile so bright
i miss your touch so sweet

but distance is just a number
and miles do not define us
alive will remain the burning flame
of love & lust

i can't say it'll be easy
or that I'll make it out alive
but i do swear to you one thing
*I'll try my best to make "us" survive
// save the last goodbye for me, one more shining memory //
dedicated to y o u

you smelt of
nicotine and wild dreams
tapping your feet
to the music inside your head
that no one else could hear

& as you put away your box of cigarettes
i couldn't help but wonder
what it would be like
for you to be more addicted to me
than to *your marlboros
// oh love, we want the ones that we will grow to hate //

Love, you've left me once again,
Gone to catch an early plane,
Where you gonna fly this time,
In search of the perfect clime?

I am the one you leave behind,
Worried out of my tiny mind,
I was the one who saw you through,
I need your care and loving too.

Love, you've left the happy home,
You've pledged your solemn word you'll phone,
But I would rather you were here,
You've no conception of my fear.

Halfway across a crazy world,
Is no place for such an unknowing child,
If only you could see me cry,
Then maybe you'd stop to wonder why.
"Left Me Once Again" was written as a song in 2003, but never recorded, having been inspired by the true life adventures of a beautiful young English backpacker of the mid 2000s.

Birds flew stagnant wings did stay there
Course, frozen gazes like medusas stare
As whispers became silent up stared.

Upon did the phoenix burn, and all was
Ash and fire. Screams of unknown were
Swallowed in moments and silence birthed.

Wings did perch to another place, but
Screams did pierce the silence, as this bird
Now illuminated and embers again fell.

An angel fell, so many did, gracing air now
Pain unfelt. Freedoms innocence did crumble
Did fall pillars fragmented downwards.

Day turned in to a perpetual grey night,
All was consumed in the fallen, swallowed
Was all silence, voices, people consumed.

All were the same that moment, what stood
Tall like the  phoenix now ash fell, covered
In what was inanimate, lives severed gone.

A moment Frozen, sealed in memory, in an
Occasion that history will never forget remember
Those gone, as towers and lives descended down.
9/11 never let us forget

Those late summer nights when we kissed
as Bohemian Rhapsody was being drunkenly sung around us,
the less connected we became;
You were enthralled about the future of
the next step you could cross while
I was too aware of the absent past we had never created.

Kissing friends with empty mouths in the heart of
june’s and july's became my home,
crowded with knick knacks of nothing.
August appeared and the familiar faces had long grown to
become lonely strangers now ready with their bags packed,
the other months calling them to come home.

The first boy I kissed had too many plane coordinates for
me to keep up with no matter how hard I tried.

The last boy I kissed had too many kisses on his lips before mine,
holding onto too many girls hearts lazily in his back pocket and
a real home thousands of postcards away.

One day there will be a kiss that will not leave me
with an unsettled heart and new meanings to the words
temporary and genuine for there
are still still winter winds, spring hymns and
autumn hues to hold hands in.

My heart is not to meant to catch in the summer heat
only to be left to burnout once the words
‘leave’ and ‘leaves’ are too applicable in the silent fall air.

These bare kisses leave me with unspoken hellos, goodbyes
and the heartbreaking notion that summer hazes don't last forever.
guess all I needed was a good, empty kiss to inspire me to write something again. so far the people that I've kissed are all players, add summer to the mix and I'm destined to remind myself that a goodbye is a promise and to not grow attached. summer love is exciting and fun and it works for some people, just not me.

We are the Pilots of our plane
Navigating this Life
Through the trails and terrain.

When life is kind,
The path is clear like blue skies.
But there are times when our travel meets turbulence,
It can create chaos and a erupt disturbance.

Do we fight the storm, or continue our flight?
Maybe we need ground.
To take a break, and get our bearings down.

When our head is in the clouds
And we don’t know what to do,
Sometimes it’s best to rest rather than move.

The clouds do fade,
The rain doesn’t stay,
Although we might wish things could change,
Good things do come to those who wait.

We are still the Pilots this Plane
Even if our forecast tells there will be wells of pain.
If not alone, then together we will weather
any atmospheric pressure that comes our way.
impale olympic skies! their pacific
avarice, turbulence, mai-tai-dyed
oxycontin contradictions pull out
deep convictions to rift meteoric
and fall apart.
happiness apart.

As Hozier says,
"Take me to church,"
Oh God, please do,
Place me inside that beautiful metal tube,
Gliding through blue skies,
Put me in an airplane,
So I can be renewed,
Please, don't leave me stranded here on the ground,
All I crave it to touch the clouds,
I'll sacrifice my entire being,
If I'm only allowed to fly.

Entering an airplane,
For me,
Is like entering a church,
This sacred place where we sit in pews,
Eyes glued to the incredible,
Action up front,
Yet the view from the window,
As beautiful as the stained glass of the church back home,
Pulls longingly at my attention,
But unlike church,
I truly feel renewed,
When we land and I exit,
The beautiful, sacred plane.
