Heavy heart         fall on me
       Guilty soul         you are free

For I am strong,
I will hold you.
And I am good:
I'll protect you.

       Lonely one         come to me
Lost and cold         I still see

For I am strong,
I will hold you.
And I am good:
I'll protect you.

Broken inside         I can fix you
You're afraid         I am with you

For I am strong,
I will hold you.
And I am good:
I'll protect you.

I hear you speak
way back when
but your lips
never move

the street lights dim
behind the glass
and the tires scream
beneath us

you see me
but I can’t tell
if you’re looking at me
or through me

because the lights
get eaten up
in your eyes

I can’t breathe
the world is so small
and my head is too heavy
and my heart is still

I sing
and you turn on the radio

black white noise
like your mouth.

My body is too heavy
I just want to lie down
And stare up at the stars
As birds and time fly by

My body is too heavy
I just want to lie down
Buried under pillows and blankets
So deep
I am nowhere to be found

My body is too heavy
I just want to lie down
Let my arms rest in the damp grass
And let the sun warm my mind

What a happy thought;
As I'm overwhelmed with fear as our plane shakes with turbulence left to right I suddenly hear the sweet sound of children giggling with joy, having no clue how high in the air we are or what the possibility of this could all mean.

I'll trade you my heavy heart for your fresh perspective

******* I just feel so heavy
Like a wet paper towel falling apart
As I replay the past year and a half through my beat up memory I let you use as your personal punching bag for far too long

The grasses in the field have toppled,
and in places it seems that a large, now
absent, animal must have passed the night.
The hay will right itself if the day

turns dry. I miss you steadily, painfully.
None of your blustering entrances
or exits, doors swinging wildly
on their hinges, or your huge unconscious
sighs when you read something sad,
like Henry Adams’s letters from Japan,
where he traveled after Clover died.

Everything blooming bows down in the rain:
white irises, red peonies; and the poppies
with their black and secret centers
lie shattered on the lawn.

If you read the words I wrote
it might just break your heart
cause they’re sure as hell too much for me to handle

My heart is heavy,
You've lead me,
But I'm done...
The moment of surrender,
Has officially begun...
Let it commence,
For the sake of my heart...
This vital ***** needs a reset,
A fresh start...
I grow,
I grow weary to the happy never coming...
This ending is not realistic,
Realistically realizing that you're really not for me,
How I want to sit here and plea,
Plead a case that's been pled over a million,
Time after time,
I just wanted you, to want me too...

The thought of this is too heavy.
It weighs on my brain.
It washes out my eyes.
It dances along the tight rope that is my shoulders.
It tips and sways and lingers on my finger tips and my bones and leaves space where there is damp darkness.
It drains the pink in my cheeks and replaces it with a heavy hollow.

Everything heavy
settles
accumulating
as I go about
my external life
like my inner one
doesn't exist

when the tide
recedes
on my knees
in the fetid mud
I will dredge
meaning from
the layers
