Night after night they'd fight
Fires and flames re-ignite
As Sparks of anger flared
She lived but dead scared
Next was waking dead to life
Yet again not too tired to fuel the strife
Atimes they were warm, atimes cold as mist
Sometimes apart, sometimes at heart
There were days they hated and days they kissed
Days of soothing the days of hurt
The flame as bright as the Sun
Died down to dim of a lantern
Even their ******* Son
Came to terms with that zigzag pattern
High was high and low was low
When's Dad was high there wasn't law
His Mama's weapons were claws
While earning real hard blows
Was what fate 'd served
What she deserved?
In the air lingered an aroma of temptation
To slay his papa and offer redemption
That became a prayer each Sunday
What he painfully did fulfill someday

Always right with me, behind my back,
The enslaved don't have hope,
I go, I read, but it stuck with my skin, with me,
The shadow ransacks behind, a nervous contour.

Always to us days conceal a pressure,
There is no ease of space on rising,
The invisible soldier squeezes hoops,
The security guard constant in a campaign.

Steel locks without knowing a tightness,
We live, we slide, meeting on the road,
But shadows..., shadows in a trace thoughtfully look,
Without us they aren't present, without us they a trifle, - dust on soles,
That stuck on a threshold.

"Be rich, or die, trying to become," -
The line in number Ferrari is punched,
The shadow can do everything, doesn't dare to fly only..., -
To the earth an iron chain chained.

We are all born heartless
That's why as children we can climb high
Off rocks we can fly
For our hearts are so empty
Of all things
But my heart is heavy
Maybe so is yours
Washed up with words like lead weights
Piled with past people like barbells
Filled full with feelings like chains
Tethered we are
Beaten and scarred
Bloodied and marred
Locked up and barred
No longer does the air seem open
Nor do the trees
No longer may we roam
Free as can be
Who has a heavy heart here?

I refused to be chained
Up by my past
But the walls I built
Imprisoned me instead

We always run
On the chain of desire
As the last person
At the end of the line
It's easy to give up
Make your run stop
No one will notice
Everyone's ahead
But we somehow stay
Though it's the hardest
To stay behind
And keep what we have
But we somehow hope
That what we're running
Is worth aiming for

It's in those sullen moments,

Attacked with cancerous thoughts.

Alone to hear these things aloud,

In Hell he'll surely rot.

It's in these quiet moments,

He ponders what could have been.

He's found his lock; his ball and chain

And yet he seeks again.

It's in those careless moments

He forgets what he has got.

Temptation to act upon
Out-weighs desire to not.

It's in these stupid moments

He loses all he possessed
By drowning those evil voices
With the flask upon his breast.

It's in those final moments

He staggers with heavy thoughts.

No more will he hear these things aloud,
'Cause in Hell he'll surely rot.

I took a gray blue stand
and whispered
go away,  away,  away
until only ghosts remained
my cowards slowly slipped over my face
or was it tacit wisdom

I saw the harsh paints
it isn't a race
and my crush has duly served it's purpose
a purpose less than I would like

I backed into a corner
what I rejoiced to see released
and put a chain upon my pet
my pet
stay put
now sit

My pet
do you only do
what you are told?

I'd answer in kind,
but I cannot find
but a hope

My wandering mind
is but a child
chained to a kaleidoscope

You left a note, but she didn't care
Instead she breathed a last trail of smoke
From your matted hair
Surprise, the reaper came early this time
Surprised you could see from the smoke in her eyes

Inhale
Inhale

So she wrapped you up in knotted
grey sheets of white, her eyes now light up from the fear
Of the Night
That the tonight you might bite her
That you might excite her
With your wings of hallowed promises
and peace

Inhale
Inhale

Lay down a wreath
You meant it this way

Watch through the smoke in your eyes
Watch as she swallows goodbyes
Instead attaches you to the chain in her chest
Lays you down in her bed then watches you rest
From a nest
From the floor
Uncertain
at last
She adores you enough

Her Past
Slowly eating her
At Last
The excuse has arrived
Surprise

Inhale
Inhale

The chain in her chest
Becomes the chain on her neck
And as for the rest, that
you chose when
You took a breath

To bereave
To leave
Was to force her to breathe her last

Inhale
Inhale
and
Exhale
The Past

I carry a bright love in my pocket,
On a chain around my neck,
In my own heart
Because love is intertwined.
