Shadows
Shadows
Early in the morning it’s  bright
Making me feel upright
The day progresses
The shadow now short and stout
Reminding me that the Sun is mighty and I must crouch
Evenings are pleasant, the shadow tall and exploring
Expelling any kinds of self doubt
Never ever leaving
Except in the dark

There is hope
The woman on the street
Up and early, she sweeps
The litter off the concrete
A job to keep

Through the window
A world slows down, not sleeps
No traffic snarls, on the highways
The signal silently beeps

World at the moment, changing
Good and bad, the exposed pieces
In Unity and humanity, there is hope
Together, for the world to live in peace
Air is clean, there is pleasant breeze
Disjointed thoughts,  hoping for world peace
And free from crisis

Vulnerable
Your thoughts and words

You think they are yours

But once public

You never know

Where they go

Credited or not

I set them free

As I was once told

By a wise man

Who sure has seen it all

Wisdom gathered over the years
Mr Joshi, my friend had once told me so, I keep
his words close to my heart  :)

By the stream
The doors, open
The home somewhat broken

By the stream
The poems we read

Missing from the home street
By the stream, meet

Read many, some new
Some you always knew

Time forsaken
Doors open, somewhat broken

Missing from the home street
Lost, maybe found

By the stream
The poems we read

The tree box
Two rows of seeds
Gift wrapped in ***** of mud
Two I had planted in pots
In a month’s time, I remember
I plucked a few lady’s fingers
Lovely the produce
Soon they faded
Gardening and growing vegetables not my forte
Love plants, but tending to them and nurture
Not what I can do
So I further gift those seeds
Where they are nurtured and nourished
And the fruits and vegetables
Well produced
Inspired by a box of seeds which came in as a gift

Dark tunes

It’s dark and cold
Just before the dawn
Bedewed Baby leaves
Rare jewels shimmer under the street lamp
The birds have set their tune of mirth
It’s always the same with these birds
A new dawn, rising
They have welcomed
Just the same
What’s with these birds
I wish to know and learn
Do they do karaoke dawns
Someday, I wish to sing along
But today, as happy as them
I listen to their mirthful song
Listening to the birdsong ( 5:00 am)

Strange( World of words)
The thoughts invisible
Invincible the cape of words
Now they haunt

Between keeping mum
And wanting to express
Lies the lies of quiet

Sometimes I write a lot
The Words, written
Sound better
Than the spoken

Strange is the world of words
Spoken and written
Both heard
All four set of words
Written at different times
Straight from the drafts

Little joys

Puddles of joy
In the eyes of the little boy
Knew his favourite candy by the stick
Home deliveries, now real quick

Cleansing thoughts
In the word machine
Filigree of words
Wrought on the screen

The mountain tops covered in hues
Rainbow of flowers, on the plateau
White swans joined and prayed with folded heads
Grass turned green, the sky baby blue
The creator creates endless landscapes

Ribbons of rains
Ribbons of rains
A translucent sheet
Papery streamers
Down the streets

Children dream
Of castles and moats
To sail their
white paper boats

Yesterday’s flowers
Colour the pathway
For every passerby
As they take a final bow
It’s raining here :)

A World to love
The world in a place
Never dreamt of, for itself, nor its inhabitants

Everyone is going through something
That nobody should

Ripping at the seams
Much to accommodate, distressed

Some on the edge, the going is tough
Losing to stress

For some there is everyone
The fabric of love, three-plied strong

If possible be there for someone
A blanket stitch at the seams, saves fine

There is much to explore in the world we inhabit
We need our world, and the love it needs
Let’s give what we can, and receive the same

Masked

A mask for all, to live
A means of livelihood for some

Smiling eyes behind the mask
Unrecognised face, keeping distance

Parks in the neighbourhood closed
Odd hours for a walk in the neighbourhood, unmasked

Work from home, not for all
Economy at risk, lives eclipsed

The sacred fire stands witness to the 7 vows taken, a marriage solemnised
Designer masks unveiled

Paranoia may ****
Purity still protects, wins
Here’s to mask an unprecedented year

Unmasking realism
Nature’s green, truthful and clean
Heals every being

Lost maybe
Times when the heart doesn’t feel its own beat
Lost, maybe some part of it forever displaced
Work makes sure, time is passed
Together, still doesn’t help
Stuck in some redundancy
Maybe, they work well, separately
Time and work
Maybe it’s for words to see

Monsoon breeze

Whispering monsoon breeze
Goes swish swish between the trees
Makes a good recce of the place
Green and proper the trees
Some laden with fruits, it’s pleased
Tickles the magpies hid amongst the leaves
Ruffles the sparrow pecking at the seeds
Waves at the clouds and the crows passing by
Giggles at the trembling basil leaves
The touch me nots, wiggle at the very thought
The champa flowers that slowly bloom
Heady the fragrance, wafts through the rooms
The swift monsoon breeze,
Whispers between the trees
Agile in its ways, soon leaves for another place

Today as I try
I don’t have the words
Yet, can’t express
I call him and say
Happy Father’s Day
And wish him the best
As he has been to us
Thank you

Display of colours
A play of colours
Rich in hues
Red, white and a dash of sea blue
Velvety cream, the pastry sweet
Ornate vintage pitcher
Flawlessly flowing spout
Arresting, the fragrance of the rose
Shy elegance in white, the orchids divine
Aesthetics sublime

Perfection Perception
What is perfection
Living up to others expectations
Living the dreamers dream
Navigating the roads
Invisible streams
Following your heart
Or the fallacious

Bridging and balancing

Believing in self
Living and loving
Kindness and compassion
In words and deeds
Is humanity supreme
In my perception
Is perfection indeed

Distilled
Death stands at
The broken door
At despair
None to repair

Life stands still
Up the hill
Lonely the breeze
Plays at its will

To sway
And move along
The winds of change
At every bend

Stands the door
Repaired hinged
And life moves on
Clear, distilled

Tom Waits

My part of the world
Knows not who you are
A talent beyond words
Rhyming life in your lyrics
Effortless you sing your songs

Tom Waits
Why I never heard you before
Now I love your songs
And want to listen to some more
Forevermore

Talk not about me like this
Lady you never heard me before
And now you speak of my songs
As if you been a fan of, all life
Don’t  flatter me now

In this world there is misery enough
As I drive down the ghost town
Fearless eyes and lies, I see
Scary for people to cope
So, in my songs I sing of hope

“Hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire, your children alone
Hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire, your children alone”
Thank you, Thomas W Case for introducing me to Tom Waits and sharing his lovely song 'Jockey full of Bourbon' and encouraging me to write something
So this is what I could think of while listening to Jockey full of Bourbon
The Last verse is from this song  :)

For a friend

It is strange
How with some people
There is an instant connection
Met a total stranger at a resort
A couple of years back
Connected over music and karaoke night
She sang beautifully and knew the lyrics well
Asked me if I would record it for her on her phone
Sure I did, but forget to switch the camera to rear facing mode
And then panicked as I enjoyed her song
Till date we joke about the recording that she has
We live in the same city
No we haven’t met, since
But never lost the connection with her
We sometimes message and speak

A life gone too soon
If only, he had someone in his weaker moments to hold him and assure him that how much he is loved..

Depression can be faced by anyone and the times today are challenging enough for the sanest

Film industry, looks all glamorous to the outside world, and within, these actors / actresses are living multiple lives except their own

He was well educated and had faced challenges enough to have made a place for himself

If only he had help in his weaker moments

Yes deeply saddened by a life so beautiful and young snuffed out too soon
Actor Sushant Singh Rajput, today committed sucide

Just my thoughts, deeply saddened by this news

Endurance
She sought answers from the stone
Long stood erased in the sun
Day after after day
Until, rains washed away the pain of sunburns
The stone lay cold
That’s all it knew
Be it rain or scorching sun
And one fine day
Folded hands she bent in reverence
The stone knew the answers
And now
She knows it too

Destinies can be customised

A jay walk in the middle of chaos

Still a part of someone’s heart

And show the truth in light after all

Ancient Temples
In silence I stood
Dazzled by
The beauty that was
And is
Faded, not lost
Of the ancient temples
The architecture, the carvings on the walls
The floral murals and the central lotus pond
Speaks of souls
Who stepped here before
Teleporting to the time
When the foundation stone was laid
The breeze
A sense of déjà vu
A silent spectator
A shelter
And has brought souls together in marriage
A witness to many wars
Coronations of kings
Kingdoms lost
Seers and ascetics
The alchemist
Under the roof
Rhythmic chants of sacred verses
The sound of the conch blowing and bell
Is it all
Of the worlds
The temple has seen
Wanting and waiting to show
Am I ready
I am yet to know

Tuning into the 90’s
Good old memories
And the sunlight

Messy kitchen
Overworked dishwasher

Time for a test ride

Circular the wheel
Life is a tease
Moves on and spins

Dear God
Dear God
Let the world see a better world
soon

Humanity shamed questioned
Rare horrendous inhuman acts
Towards the ones, one with nature
Survive solely on what nature provides
Do they have to ask for permission
Do humans ever ask,
before they encroach
Speaking of boundaries for others
Defending self, raising stronger fences
Brutality of humans, does it ever stop at suffering
Building castles on, close to water bodies
Endangering ecosystems
Cursing the storms, floods and every disaster nature brings on
Today I feel shallow for my hollow words
Cause I can’t digest the fact
That a mute unsuspecting animal
Had to ingest a fruit bomb
Killing her
A tragic, silent watery grave
And the one in her womb
Shocking
Humanity shamed questioned
Will they ever trust
Yes they will, unlike us
As they are one with nature, giving, forgiving

Colour of a faded lime
Every thought
A puddle that clouds your mind
To roll in like a playful child
Sometimes long enough
You mull
To be shrouded by
Sooner or later you dust it off
And lay it down
To be puddled by new
Growths of green
Colour of a faded lime
Not long enough
A forest never enough
There is winters and summers
Seasons of all
There is always, spring
To fall upon

There’s a place
You often drift away to

No eyes peering at you
Oblivious to the crowd
Aware unabated

The din outside
Puts a rest to the one inside
The music silent, faint

The rhythmic beats
The pulse felt, makes sense
The heart awake
