I am Nerd
I love the crack of the bat not in a big baseball field but when my Daddy plays. Yeah sure, he's on Pitt's Honors College team, and they call themselves 'Nerd Softball' but it makes me happy to watch him play. It has been a rough couple of years on Dad. I know it, *** he keeps coming to talk to me and he never, ever used to do that and now he's always chattering away it feels nice but I am worried. Today, they lost 25- 4 not 24 4 but they were playing the Pitt Police so I'm still proud.

Softball Game (for my Dad)
For seventy or more years TV And radio ruled the world, Along with telephones. But then computers made their mark, Soon followed by mobiles, Smartphones, Ipads, Bluetooth, Wifi and who knows what? In no particular order. So herds of sheep migrated Into Cyberspace Even Myspace! Then on to Planet Facebook And Terratwitter. We talk with people we’ve never met, And meet folk with whom we’ve never talked. It keeps us occupied I guess, And gives relief from stress. These images that yet fresh images beget, I’m sure Yeats would agree. I tolerate these adverts flashing in my face And soak up knowledge to my solid mental grace. A world of wonders beckons in The depths of Cyberspace, And as a Nerd before they were invented, I have to say I’ve truly found my place. Paul Butters

Communication
I was like every other scientist for love to me was just a neural reaction to a certain stimulus presented to an individual, just a hormonal response of a person to a certain situation laid out to them Like a configuration of ****** muscle tissue of one results to an increase of serotonin, dopamine, and for some, oxytocin of another At times, one would affiliate this ****** muscle configuration to that of pentahydroxyhexanal (sugar) and that was discombobulating I could not understand how a smile becomes sweet and yet at that moment when I saw you smile I immediately understood that science science cannot explain this This feeling I have when I see you

Is it Farfetch'd to wonder if you ever think of the Eeveening under the stars When you said there was no Chansey that we could ever be together Well I remember And I say Ditto to that.

my inner nerd comes out
I got some things I want to confess From an awkward nerd to a beautiful countess You're more confusing than the Higg's Boson I understand more the positrons and electrons You're more complex than a polysaccharide "Understanding You" is no book my archive Why can't our relationship be a mutualism Rather than the one sided commensalism Could we be close like the tibia and fibula? So close like the aorta and vena cavas? To be close, I could only hope Like uranium 237 and uranium 238, inseparable isotopes Whenever I see you, I get the "kilig" affixes Like the sour taste of citru sinensis I can't get enough of your wonderful smile It's like the taste of pentahydroxyhexanal You might think I'm in delirium But my thoughts are in equilibrium You're the only girl inside my cranium And this love for you is more precious than titanium

dear stereotypical people, you make me sick. i mean, who are you to tell me what i can and can't do because i don't have a **** why do you think that this is a rap? is it because i'm black? because i live on an island, i must be wild and uncouth? and whenever i speak my mind, i'm another rebellious youth? dear stereotypical people, you see my glasses and call me a nerd? and make fun of me because I know of words you've never heard? oh i'm sorry, that i took my education seriously. and i swear if another person says 'girl you're so tall, you have to play ball.' i'm gonna run head first into a gaddamn wall. dear stereotypical people, why do you trust the white man in a suit but not the black man in the hoodie? is it because he looks cleans and exudes goodie goodie? dear stereotypical people, please mind your business which i'm pretty sure doesn't include how that teenage mom and her child are living. dear stereotypical people, why do women that are open about *** make you wanna run away? i mean, i'm pretty sure it shouldn't matter what she does with her body unless she's your wife my God, why can't y'all let people live their lives? dear straight men that lust over gay women, NO WE DONT WANT TO ********* WITH YOU **** it, we like the same thing you do! dear people of the world, yes I live in the Bahamas no I do not live in a hut, eat coconuts and go on the beach every day. dear stereotypical people, i promise i don't hate you i do hate how you look down upon people that live differently from you, that see differently from you, that think differently from you. i would hope that you know that this world does not revolve around you, no one will stop being who they are because of you. don't get me wrong, some people hurt because of what you do. just think about how you would feel if it were you. my prayer is only that you think before you say. and maybe one day, you'll all see the error in your ways.

I Craw in the Urban Jungle night after night, making shadows my best friend Because my pale skin would get sunburn in the day time. Many of you have read about me on the internet, But don't know if we exist like the Yeti or Bigfoot Every now and then you see photos of me and hear stories about our existence But here I am, White, Nerdy and…. Nerdy Nerdy like the Nerds falling out of the box and skipping on the floor of my lair (or my parents basement whatever you call it). Some moments you will find me praying to my shrine for my savior, Weird Al Yankovic Many of you may call us “ Losers” But let me take a moment to tell you why you are wrong, in every way. First off, We are not losers we just win at things that you don't care about Like the Rubik's Cube, Dungeon and Dragons, and Larping We don’t care about making friends, getting the poo tang, or getting high off of our ***** No we are too occupied trying to plan how we will survive the zombie apocalypse, Or debating on if Star Wars is better than Star Track. We are too busy reading comic books, Leveling up our one handedness On Skyrim of course. You think that we are hideous, But in all reality, my acne improves my defenses against mother nature, My braces are actually tools that government uses so they can reflect solar flares back to space I'm ugly because god decided to make me pick up girls on ******** mode because before you Meet me it was way too easy. Many of you think that we are weak I may have spaghetti arms, no abs, but you know what, no problem, Because if you look at my shadow, you see someone that 10 feet tall and bulletproof I am a nerd, hear me roar. My roar breaks your paper thin confidence As it just floats in the wind like leaves, leaving the tree in October My roar will rock your house with all of your friends leaving you alone because in the end, you May be popular but lets be honest, who are your real friends? Call me weak, I dare you Being a nerd has taught me many things Like don't eat cake because it is deceiving And that Neo should of taken the blue pill Because that movie series was terrible. And that DC Comics is the best, ***** Marvel But the one thing it taught me the most is that be proud of myself.

I'm considered to be nerdy Awkward, not flirty. They call me gay, Because I Cosplay. I must be a dork Because Zelda's my lord, And she's way cooler than any sport. Could someone love me? That couldn't be. I watch too much anime, And BBC. I praise The doctor and Spock. Even Sherlock. Cause in my opinion They're better than jocks. Being nerdy is quite fun, But you make me sound dumb. We're accepting and caring But please stop staring. Am I making this boring? Don't start snoring.. Just give me a chance. I'll make it last. We could play Skyrim or league. Wait, don't leave! I can be cool, Just like you! I can calculate big numbers in my head, Or make a fortress out of my bed I can be an ork, elf, or spy. Just as long as it's allowed by the die. I can cast spells online. Don't worry, you'll be fine! I can role play to the extreme!!! That's right, I call it d&d.; I'm proud to be a geek. Yes, we're very neet! We know our facts! We're anime maniacs. I'm good at mtg! It takes skill to be like me. I'm cool I tell you! I'm grand. But at the same time, You don't make me feel great. I'm a loser, A dork No, I don't like baseball, football, or hockey I can't bench and I don't lift. But I go to some pretty intense parties... On Xbox. My heart is bigger than my head.. No, not literally. I'd bring you a rose And write you a poem You'd be my Rory. This isn't the end of the story. I'd love you more than video games, Star Wars, and D&D.; In the end, You're always my MVP. You don't have to lie, I know you'll decline.. but my feelings won't change. They'll always be the same. Maybe I'd be cool.. If I were with you. But that'll never be Because you fail to see OTP. Then again, It's all good in the end Because.. Roses are red Violets are blue Manga costs less Than dinner for two.

My name is *******
Flashback to as far back as the mind goes, Masculinity is mighty and feminism is flawed, Man is right and woman is wrong, Boy is strong and girl is weak, I’m a gentleman as long as I’m on top, She can’t speak unless spoken to, No place for women at the pulpit, Men can’t learn from lesser beings. Flashback to four years old, The first time he was told, Homosexuals will burn eternally, Because they’re ******* He said God doesn’t love them, They’re an abomination to creation. Flashback to age twelve, Welcome to the USA, Export the Mexicans, Eliminate the rag heads, Burn the gays. Flashback to seventh grade, She left him for her, The hate talk convinced him, All gays were wrong always. Flashback to freshmen year, It was Halloween, Debate class in the morning, She was dressed as a nerd, But obviously that so wasn’t her, Because she was Iranian, He asked where her turban was, Said her outfit wasn’t complete without it. Flashback to the close-minded, conservatively, homeschooled child, Racism was as familiar as his father’s laugh, Sexism known like the scent of his mother’s casseroles, Ignorance was his bestfriend, And hate pumped through his veins. I don’t know if right wing racist remarks are forgivable, But the one he was bred to despise showed nothing but forgiveness. The Iranian girl shed tears, Which caused him to shed his foggy lens, For the first time, he saw his own sins, A joke rooted in hate hurt an innocent girl, An innocent tear hurt an ignorant boy, I am an ignorant boy, I felt her pain, I stabbed myself with shame, She befriended me, She forgave. Flawed people produced twisted identification, She isn’t the Iranian girl, Just a person. Mexican, black, dark skinned, or light, Christian, Atheist, Muslim, Left wing or right, Straight, gay, man, woman, Irrelevant. Mexican, black, dark skinned, or light, Christian, Atheist, Muslim, Left wing or right, Straight, gay, man, woman, Human.

Society, it pins us against each other; Chubby girls are forced to hate themselves all the ads that say they are not right and that makes them cry at night. They defend themselves by calling littler girls sticks which makes those littler girls suffer; Gays are forced to hide or "pay for the crime"; We are all separated into our own cliques where we are forced to stay. A nerd and a **** are forced to hate one another because the athletic and genus differences. Society is cruel but its hard to keep are judgement under control.

Society
I know you probably won’t be able to read this bit of my soul, but I just wanted to say that up until now, I’ve crossed an uncountable number of lines. To other people, it may seem like I make a big deal out of minuscule things, but as a human, I’ve made many, many mistakes..but, I’m not one to forgive myself. I’m the kind who fits herself into the stereotypes ones boxed into. I’m the “nerd”, “the mute”; “quiet kid”, “the hopeless romantic”, and every other category they box me into. I don’t fight back. I don’t look them in the eye. I just sit there with my head drooped, silently wishing to go by unnoticed, because the truth is..I’m afraid. I’m afraid of what they might say back. I’m afraid of messing up, I’m afraid, I’m afraid, I’m afraid. But most of all..I’m afraid of their words. I’m afraid of their words because what they might say back is unknown. By the time I wait, the words just melt underneath my tongue, and all that’s left is the uncertainty. Through my experiences, I learned that I don’t need to be afraid. I learned that people can be harsh sometimes, but it’s not my fault. There’s nothing wrong with me. The only person who was wrong, was the person who thought they had power over me. The power to change my mind, to make me think that I’m not worth it. That I’m not worth it..? Then came these seven angels.. They taught me to love myself, little by little, everyday. My world turned right side up, and there was nothing left to lose. Back before then, I remember not bothering to look both ways before crossing the street, because I thought, there was no good reason to live. I was wrong. I slowly started to realize my worth, I wasn’t what people said I was, because the only definition they were giving, was a reflection of themselves. I mean sure not everything was perfect from then on since, but I still continued to love myself because of these seven men from South Korea who had such an impact on me, that I could never forget. From then on, I was the girl who didn’t let labels stop her from being her own self, I was the girl who kicked open the box of stereotypes she was stuck in for a long time. I was the girl who stopped apologizing for the things she did right. I was the girl who never stopped dreaming. But most of all..I am now the girl who’s not alone. I have these seven brave handsome looking knights and an entire “ARMY” after all.

stereotypes.
Nerd
I've never done a challenge before, but I've been thinking on writing a poem about what kind of Pokemon I would be. I guess this would be more for the nerd-type people here. But I challenge others to write what kind of Pokemon they would be. Let me know if you accept so I can check it out. If I Were A Pokemon.... I would be a Ditto. I'm Ditto because I'm a different person depending on who I'm with. I tend to transform into what others like. I become what they want to see out of me. Whether that means always joking around, Being a little extra sad, Talking "like a Christian", Or talking like a "normal" person my age. I will become whatever you want just to make you happy, Because it doesn't matter who I really am. I'm Ditto

What Pokemon Are You (Challenge)
i would prefer to sit home alone and read the fountainhead the catcher in rye the metamorphosis the stranger i get drunk off plays on words i get high off clever plots what keeps me up at night isn't money or relationships it's the fact that there are so many lovely books that have yet to be in my hands it's overwhelming i do not dream of stacks of currency or a lover by my side i dream of paper covered in ink and the satisfying feeling of turning pages

Beautiful
My mom sleeps early. She isn't a night owl. She lives in the day. And everything around when the sky is bright. the streets are loud. She leaves the house at 9pm. sharp And went off in her snores. My dad stays up late. Until twelve. And when the last 60 seconds ended the day. He'd turn off the TV "Has been a long day" he'd say. Yawn. And he'd go to bed. And me. I'm no bubbly girl. or pretty. cheesy blondy. Maybe just a good nerd. But I know the night. And I love it. 1a.m. is free. My private afternoon. with cookies and tea. And I'd turn on the lights. Walk with my ankles light off the ground. Turtle hasn't sleep. no he's like me! He'd wiggle his tail and swim towards my face. As if to say, "heya buddie" he should have eaten but he knows. he knows. I feed my Turtle at one in the morning. And he never says no.
