Stark Dec 2018
Pained expression on your face
Grimacing as you return your gaze to meet mine
It physically hurts for you to talk to me
A stark reminder
Of what you’ve lost

Everything is open
Like a gaping wound
All the cards have been revealed
And you let the grief engulf you

Falling backwards into the crushing sea
Waves cascading
Salty--for the tears that you have shed
falling into the sea of grief

i was born and raised
in a home of apocalypse.
all those
never-ending conflicts,
and endless wars
have wounded me deeply.
abandoned, and ignored
by people who should have taught me
about the definition of love.
but instead,
their actions shaped me into a person
who is so good at pretending,
for all to see that i grew up in
the name of love and affections,
when all i have ever witnessed
was hate and abomination.

folks
this is the last song of the evening
time for one last round
so pick 'em up and
slam 'em down...

couples headin'
to the dance hall floor
some lonesome doves
walkin' out the door
take a look around
into the lonely fa-ces
broken hearts
yearnin' for tender gra-ces

see the hopeful eyes
lookin' back at you
you've seen each other
from across the room
if you act now
you wont be turned awa-y
another day
might be too la-te

oh i know
life ain't been kind
we've got - wounded hearts
but there's still time
so - here's a chance
ya never know
tho it's
just a dance
it could be more

so ya
take her hand
pull her in real close
music playin'
soft and slow
you close your eyes
as she softly si-ghs

starlit shadows
from a disco globe
we fade to black
on this winding road
lost and lonely
we pay the toll
just one last dance
before we go
just one last da-nce
before we go

and these bitter days
we watch them waste away
into the whiskey nights and
the smoke filled haze
we're singin'
Willie -n- Waylon
pray the music keeps playin'
as we drift away
into this whiskey haze
shadows of a memory
keep draggin' ya down
one last round
you slam it down
you close your eyes
as she soflty si-ghs
gently swayin'
across the floor

starlit shadows
from a disco globe
we fade to black
on this winding road
lost and lonely
we pay the toll
just one last dance
before we go
just one last da-nce
before we go

It’s deep dark. I am talking to an owl
who is awaken in my tree.
An unknown radio station playing
“I Ain’t Got No Home in This World Anymore”
make the night bleed in black.
Those paper planes you made flies
around in a storm within.
Uninvited butterflies possess the
room through the smoke scented windows.
The temperature rises and my fever burns,
an empty needle still stitches a wound in me.
The song doesn’t stop but repeats.
Shoot me in the point-blank.
Have a well dug deep grave.
I stole a journey from you.
Be insane my tremors,
a long-awaited winter is coming.

Still long to go this long night
There is a greater possibility of
getting your heart ruined
but you do it everyday
Do you remember the old house
in the end of the street?
I always had that unhappy
feeling about the colour.
Now let’s paint it in hard yellow.
I still knew you close
your eyes when you smile.

I am a collection of shattered,
broken glasses.
My sides and edges are sharp
and may cause a wound
to whoever dare to hold me in their hands.
You may think that only my large shards can hurt but the truth is,
it's the small ones that can create the most pain.

Despite these things, is your love still
willing to embrace my brokenness?

Its as they say

with time
even the deepest wound
will heal

For a moment
I let myself believe
your lies

that the wound you left on my heart
would never heal

but today
as I awoke
the sunlight filtering through
my window

my first thought
wasnt of you

Note

Attaching honours
and dispatching lives;
So grins the new day
and greets the Great Flaw

Note

The Fusing :
Polarise
and apply
weapon to wound
(as the weatherman dictates)

Note

Taughtless and young
Fight your way from family
and take oath
with no protest:
A moral clumsiness

Note

We'll sort out that 'population problem'
and lunge out our burrowed lives
in saturation
of our unmended sorrows

just because the star-

not mean it didn't hurt.

The air is thick with tension
Limpid red rimmed eyes, ready
for waterworks at a moment’s notice
Hands repeatedly
Clenching and unclenching
Feet drumming
Lips pursed, turning white
Stomach clenched
Wound up
Like a spring
Permeating sense of foreboding
