She does not own a fighter's body

But you can tell right from the start

That the thing they have in common

Is...she has a fighter's heart

For as long as I have known  her

A scrapper she has been

A lioness well challenged

She is cunning, though not mean

Her battle is internal

Her trophy is her life

Her body's full of cancer

She's tap dancing on a knife

She won't back down from any fight

Not this one...that's for sure

She determined like a fighter

She wants this fight...and one more

It's a battle for survival

She's as tough as old Ali

Her battle cry is awesome

"You will not be taking me"

I write this for my mother

The toughest woman that I know

And regardless of her cancer

Her pain...she'll never show.

Win
I'm fighting my demons
Trying not to let them
Get the best of me
But it ain't easy
When my demons is what
Comforts me

I be good on the outside
Falling apart from within
Life got so hard I thought
I was strong but I gave in

I no I'm living in sin
But everybody lives
In the fog every now n then

I no I can win I'm stuck
On addiction

Got me wishing
I can get through
This and no longer play
Victim

I'm not weak I just gotta listen
But I'm stuck in the addiction

Truth is relegated to oblivion
Whereas, grandiloquent lies, win

I enjoyed it
Somewhat
Running up and down the court
Playing by rules that I concocted
Due to my inability to play correctly

It was all right

But while the air in my lungs depleted
I couldn’t help but ask
What’s the point of it all?
You run around and hit a ball
To another opposite you
That’s it

They don’t even want the ball
They are just going to give it right back
The game is just trying to force
Unwanted objects upon the enemy
Repeated again and again
Until one ends up giving in
Becoming the oppressed

Engrossed in their failure
The defeated is left to stand there
Gasping for air in a sea of oxygen

It is just animalistic behavior
Created by the insignificant

Standing in front of
A mountain of challenges
Rising high above
To intimidate your resolve
Impenetrable they seem
Deep gorges around you
Imminent defeat
Search within
For the answers
From the irrepressible spirit
Toil away
To create a tunnel
Through the challenges
Always surrounded by them
But you have a way
To create your own path
Even mountains
Give way to courage
Others shall follow

Behind the smiling faces
Written, a poignant story
Hearts lay there in smithereens
Still unable to find the pieces
Lost forever in the crevices
Moments frozen in the past
Feelings wrapped in a bubble
Smothered and relegated
To the corridors of oblivion
Yet, the spirits are unbound
No chains can hold their energy
Fighting a vicious battle
To overcome the defeats
The smiling faces
Spread happiness and positivity
So others can find solace
And find the courage to fight
Smiling faces are beacons of hope
They tell a courageous story
When you are willing to listen

Complex or not
I always come out on top.

The love you hold in
So moldy from years of sitting
Unattended
Stuck in a cabinet of
Miscellaneous memories
Has been dug out by me.

Now kindergarten has regurgitated
Feelings of jealousy you grip
Tightly
In secrecy.

What is the game
In befriending me?

It's not going to be
The way you dream it to be.

Because now?
He sleeps with me.
Rough- summer poem. In need of critiques! I realize I rhyme me and me a lot

Ya know, I devoted two years of my life to you;
Yeah I wasn't perfect,
Yeah I had other flings,
Yeah I was making decisions to leave you.

But you
Left me
You left me
YOU left me.
(Bravo)
We Weren't even together-
But the love was,
Oh, the love the was there.
The love of a confused will;
hunting for who knows what.

I can still see - your eyes twinkle like the love ridden star song
I can still see your tireless dedication to try and figure out a puzzle
that doesn't want to be solved
I can still see our chemistry, that I will never see again.

A last good bye is in order
But
I will
Just sit
And watch
You and this guy,
And your smile. From a Distance;
I just find it interesting that any stanza could stand alone as a poem itself.
