She Writes Jan 2019
Such relief I felt
When I stopped holding my breath
Waiting until I was told I could speak

So free I felt
When I stopped holding my pen
Waiting until I was told what I could write

So powerful I feel
Knowing I can bring you to your knees
With only my tongue and my pen

Swallows get caught in your throat
trying to escape the cat.
Feathers are ticklish,
the cat's grip is vicious,
is this how we've come to say that
the cat got your tongue,
the cat got your tongue,
because you thought
you could swallow winged lies.
The hunter inside
always finds its pride
in the throat where the swallow choked.

It never fails.
All hail Generation Tongue In Mouth.
Let them go.
For they don't want you now.
It's a shame,
A weak man's game.
Let them go.
Don't you know Generation Tongue In Mouth?
Go ahead,
Break connection now.
That's just how it goes sometimes,
Don't take it personal.
That's just how it goes sometimes, don't take it personal.

you're on the tip of my tongue
not quite fully formed
a word
the one i find so easy to forget

you trip me up
every time
start with a 'g'
three syllables

i've got you...almost
g-r-a-t-i-t-u-d-e
ah, that's right
rhymes with attitude

i'm so thankful i remembered you at last

Starved of care & love
Head's underwater & I struggle to stay above
Because I'm empty inside, so I cannot float
The taste of metal on my tongue
& Lead passes through my throat
Waking up from up from those inner desires
Life's a cruel mistress & she never tires

her tongue is a serpent
slithering slowly into my mouth
careful not to let the poison touch me

she tastes dangerous like smoke
and breath mints

i can feel her pumping through my veins,
coursing through my heart

she is now a part of me

I started
giving ink
to my tongue
and for some reason
I developed a sleeve tattoo
that spelled courage
Speaking without borders
speak your heart

I should pierce
my tongue
with candles

Hope they'll
taste like cheese
