Come on, girl,
keep your smile up.
Keep your smile up,
keep your smile bright,
do you best not to falter.
All the world is your stage,
but dear God, do the lights blind you.
Still, you can't miss a step,
don't miss a single step,
because just one slip will send you flying,
and no matter how much you love to fly,
what goes up must come down.
They can never know,
they will never see,
and you will never tell them
why your smile prefers to be a frown.

She is sad but never frowns.
She is tired but still living.
She is ignored but still listening.
She is misunderstood but understands.
She is confused but sees the world clear.
She is a mess but does her hair.
She is stressed but finds relief.
She is distant but the end seems close.
She is judged but ignores.
She is alone but creates a friend.
She is hurt and the tears begin.
She is depressed and no ones around.
She is in pain and it never wants to go away.
She is screaming but is silent.
She is ****** up and cant think straight.
She is worthless and doesn't see a point.
She is afraid but find the courage.
She is suicidal and the world cant see it.
She is Dying.

She is me.

There's too
Much light
In your soul
To hide my
Heart
In the dark
Anymore

There's too
Much kindness
In your eyes
To continue
My sadness
In the darkest
Nights

There's too
Much love
In your smile
To cover mine
In the shadows
Of time

Its Tuesday,
You turn off your movie,
Ready to get to bed.
You wonder what time it way be,
And suddenly, you regret your movie watching spree.
Five minutes to midnight.

You panic,
Remembering that gigantic,
Test you have the next morning.
You scramble to put your laptop away,
Trying not to crumble your essay,
Into your book bag with the rest of your school things.
You lie under your cover,
Only to discover,
It is 4 minutes till midnight.

You close your eyes,
Only seeing the lies,
You told about going to sleep hours before.
You toss and turn.
Realizing you may never be able to adjourn,
You movie night brain.
Your eyes wonder off,
What they see makes you cough.
3 more minutes till midnight.

You gasp,
Just wishing you would just clasp,
a sweet visit to dream land.
You then hear the loud thunder,
And start to wonder. . .
Is it giants?
Stomping angrily from the heavens?
Or dancing with glee in groups of sevens?

And then, as you think,
You suddenly need a drink!
You get out bed,
accidentally hitting your head!
You grab a drink from the kitchen,
Scooping up your kitten,
As you go back upstairs.
You spot the clock,
You feel as if you need to knock,
on wood as it is
1 minute to midnight.

You crawl back into bed,
listening to you kittens purring,
You feel the fur ball stirring,
trying to get comfortable.
The giants above quieting down,
You see no reason to frown.
You close your eyes,
and take a deep breath.
You did not get a visit from death,
But you did get to sleep,
Just as your clock hit,
**Midnight.
Cant sleep!!! Time goes too slow at night!

So at first I asked "who am I?",
And within a second of thinking,
For once - I heard myself speak,
It was as if a being seperate from mine graced me with its presence,
And oh the shock to find this presence was that of my own,
Yet even after a monologue of internal thought,
My new found reasoning could not answer the eternal question,
"Who am I?"

"Look in a mirror" they say,
But can the entirety of your soul be exposed from this reflection?
"You are who you chose to be" they further elaborate,
But what choice do I have when choosing with uncertainty,
Forced to decided among the devices of fate,
Fervently thought they explain "we are all individuals!",
Well then why do we all wish to be another?
Oh well I guess, that's life.

Haunt your mind and haunt your soul
Beneath your skin, beneath your head
Beneath your nails, beneath your pen,
Beneath your sheets, from what you said

Into your food, into your drink
Into your scent that rains on down
Into your thoughts so you can’t think
Your face is dark, a twisted frown

You cannot run
You cannot hide
From your cold and hidden pride

Think less, Feel more.
Frown less, Smile more.
Talk less, Do more.
Complain less, Appreciate more.
Fear less, Love more.

I am a sad, sad
Character
With a smile that is
Upside-down
A frown owning
A crown.
Good-looking but not
Good on the
Inside.
My guts are black,
Brain fried, and
Eyes always
Crying.
Stature lacking
Confidence, finding it
In the pants
Of others, and
At the bottom of
A bottle.
Seeking pleasure
With pain, hoping it'd
Make us equal.

Gnash your teeth and howl,
but you'll never see me frown
I'll never frown for you. My smile is all you'll ever see cause you can't affect me anymore.
