I'm so small
smallest
dot
explosion
patience
distance
time
existence
maybe smaller.
Brandon Conway Aug 2018
A grizzly man just sunk a stripe in the corner pocket
Another bought himself company in a glass
One pulls out a cigarette and sticks it between his lips
Soon a spark ignites and a spirit starts to rise

Over head the hum of jets fly by

Across the street sits an old rusty park
Two kids are there, who knows from where
They look happy to be free
A dog squatting just behind a tree

The flying angels left their halo

A block down the street
People gather to watch the lighting of the Christmas tree
Some in the coffee shop
Sipping on sugar and caffeine

The halo starts to whistle

The town is lit up as to say thanks to our lord
Instruments take the stage
Rock around the Christmas tree begins to play
Children yawn and parents laugh as it’s getting late

The whistle shows his face

The festivities stop
Screams of panic fill the night
Kisses and hugs, loved ones holding tight
The smoke in the bar has risen ceiling high

The face opens his mouth and laughs out loud

Silence overtakes the night
Just for a split second before a column of bright
Cauterizes the flesh and melts the bones
Once a joyful town, now is gone

This was the third one tonight

We are the stars;
We are shining and twinkling,
Providing light for each other in our darkest times.
We are the stars;
Even though we may seem far apart,
We are always close in our hearts.
We are the stars;
We are beautiful and lovely,
Appearing perfectly tranquil,
Yet in reality, explosive.

Oh, the million
Fireworks that explode in
My heart when we kiss.
Maxim Keyfman Jun 2018
I saw today a catastrophe
I saw an explosion today
I saw a terrible fire
I saw death in my eyes

Fire
a terrible fire in my eyes
Explosion
a terrible explosion in my mind
Fire
a terrible fire in my eyes
Explosion
a terrible explosion in my mind

The fire surrounded all
Without leaving a trace
The explosion swallowed up everything
Without leaving anything

Fire
a terrible fire in my eyes
Explosion
a terrible explosion in my mind
Fire
a terrible fire in my eyes
Explosion
a terrible explosion in my mind

Shoot for the moon
miss and land among the stars.
Aimed for your heart
missed
and never got a chance
to restart.

you want to believe they will grow to miss you. you know you are wrong when you say they will realize what they let go. they never made a mistake; you didn’t either. it was a flame meant to suffocate. while you got hit with the explosion, they had lit the fuse. they were walking away and left you to pick up the mess that was made. what pieces of belief you had were shattered; you worked so hard to put them together. soon, your skin will harden to protect those parts of you that are so naive. bombs will fall around you, and you will get knocked off your feet. but the more they happen, the stronger you will grow, and the easier it will be to pick yourself up off the floor. this is what life is. this is the danger of love. this is the danger of hope. this is the danger of trusting anyone besides yourself. you can’t even do that anymore, though.
you will grow.

My smile is a dead language.
It used to mean many things.
It was interpreted, adored.
It isn’t real anymore
A vestige of a time long passed.
Now it just represents death
A shadow of the happiness
I used to know.

I used to love fireworks.
I could sit out on the beach
On the fourth of july
And watch them for hours
The brilliant flashes of color
And seconds after, the crackling and booming.

That’s love, my dear.
Pretty one minute,
Seemingly endless and infinite
But destined for destruction.
A flash and then,
Before you even hear it explode,
the colors fade away.
if you even blink one moment-
gone.
Then the boom
Lagging seconds behind
The realization that it is over.
Nothing will ever sparkle that brilliantly again.

What you’re watching are elements lit on fire
Blasted through the air in a blaze of glory
Cascading back to earth burnt up and used.

I used to be alive
blissful, free.
But once reduced to ash
I cannot be lit up again.

The language of my smile
Ceased being spoken
When he stopped listening.
courting the sun
  after a cool June
  in my vintner's garden
close to the southern border

carefully sipping
  his latest selection
    a good year
    you can taste it

looking out from the hill
  across the river valley
  I listen to his children
  proudly telling how
only yesterday
  they filled 50 sandbags
just in case

the deafening roar
  of an interceptor jet
  splits the air
    just for seconds
    leaves my wine glass
    trembling

three helicopters
  slash their way south
  and come back later

over the winding road
  on the next hill
the last tank of the column
   disappears

we can hear
  not far away
      over there
  sounds like explosions

we enjoy the sun

Helmut opens another one
  of his treasured bottles
  and tells me
  what he will do
  if They come across

   he is a good hunter
and an excellent shot

I sip the clear wine
  watch how the sunlight
  lends its brilliance
  to the half-filled glass

I feel a little bit
  like Humphrey Bogart
  in the wrong movie.
Near the Slovene border in southern Austria at the beginning of the war in former Yugoslavia, 1992.

Two Heart breakers, standing in a room
One that you didn't suspect,
she's just starting to bloom.
And the other is what you expected,
making every heart go boom.

One never gave others a choice.
She hides information behind a knowing smirk
Her smile can turn any heart twords her.
Little did they know that a siren's song can lurk
In the sweetest of voices.

The other caused explosions
and it was only after the boom did they realize
that the aftermath was not worth the thrill of the fall.
They look around say with cries,
"I was never really chosen!"

Those two Heart breakers start to grow close,
giving the other what they require the most
of what they had to offer
Neither one seems to know
that they hold the others love.

The one who causes explosions of lust
is the first to fall
she got attached to quickly
the other wasn't ready.
So, she decided waiting wasn't for her
and moved off from the cliff's edge
to find another.

The one going into bloom
fell too late.
She missed the deadline and was so close.
But, the other had already moved on.
So, she moves on but left apart of her behind.
Because you never know when she might return.

The bloomer is now a flower.
The explosions have become dust.
They both have continued on but
keep going in circles around that edge.

Will they fall down together?
Or will they go their separate ways again?
One is too unpredictable and wild.
The other is too prepared and tame.
Maybe they will meet at this cliff's edge again.
Fall with me darling, fall and hope we'll grow wings and fly.
