And I felt as though I was burning from the inside out,
Choking on thick, black smoke while my mind began to fill with the ashes of what I once was.

Then he showed up and soothed my scorching soul all the while igniting something else. Something much deeper, that would hurt much more had he chose to blow it out.
Love...

Thankfully, mercifully, I thought, he decided to let me burn, but for too long. I began to sizzle out. For when the same spark finally caught fire in him, the bonfire that was once ablaze in me was reduced to nothing more than a charred pile of memories..
This piece is over three years old and I hope to be posting a revised version, hence the title.

i had a paper heart,
you played with matches.

My heart pounded against my chest so hard
It felt as if something was punching me
We ran,
Hand in hand
And never took a second to look back
For there was nothing left to look back on
But the charred silhouettes of memories
Soon to be forgotten.
we left it all behind when the fires started

The brightest flame in my life dimmed before my eyes
The light went out, she disappeared into the night.
To another, her flame begins  to glow,
To another, her heart begins its show.

The warmth hidden in her glow kept my fires burning.
Now it’s gone, the fire quenched, my heart cold.
But deep cold feels warm when filled with yearning.
And with this tragic warmth, I preserve your warmth for another.

The purest of affections are yours to share.
You choose to share it with whom you care.
Although my fire is but a remnant of the past,
I choose to share it with you, that your fire may last.

When the one I loved didn’t love me back
My fire burned cold it needed love back
As you share your flame with another,
I will endure in my cold dark slumber.
The glow in the one I loved kept my heart's fire lit. Now it's gone, and all I want is for her to be happy. Though that kind of happiness is forbidden to me, it brings me joy to know that at least somebody else gets to experience it.

thy ice by fire mine melts
to a blaze ye and I ignite
mine soul on fire is
as truth in lies may freeze
lies with truth is firestorm
Well ye left me behind lit
at glory's blaze afire
as for me ye did freeze
and mine fire dimed down
at your departure's grief
Aries in April's daisy
t'was fire mine abirthday gift
of special blaze a trail
the Ice of thee afire I defrost
melting thine frozen heart
with grace of truth in poem
steamming thee
to meet again
as one afire

Ice with fire melts
truth in lies may freeze
but lies with truth incinarates
so we'll meet again in the afterlife
and dance with you
our fires blaze as one

It is unknown that gets me of this
A veil, a world beyond exists
Life and reel both
Shows the stills of the worst
But no more
Could mean way more
In ways no one will understand
About what this i
s

A relief to all unending pain
A permanent erase to all thoughts in brain
harsh reality to those still living
The real problem is in breathing
Liberation and freedom
Aren't for the living
Part of brave around
The chances are faint
.

A forever is a promise
Not to believe in
Wonder to eyes
All good lies
Simple truth
Is too good for us
Not edible enough
God don't need us
.

Not here not there
Only best get vacancy
Heaven is housefull
Seven hells down
The burns and fiery thirst
don't stop
Ignition on
You were bad
When you had the chance
.

Warm little kisses
To freezing finger tips
Are like burns to me

Why don't You run
Why are You here
What do You want

They do their job perfectly
Thawing out this heart
Making me pliant

What do You need
What is It
What am I to you

Unable to do anything
Limp for your hands
Aching for a touch

Would You break my heart too?

Love, like sweet icing sugar
burns with yellow flame
blackening your common sense.
