Gentlemen of Courage and Ladies of Excellence, Toast to stolen prayers with rarer player’s hands; Soft in defiant laughter, when drinking their wine from the bowels of brines Sing along the Ballads of Heritage with Melodies of Exception; Boast, not a breathe, though sullen heirs ghost to fairer wearer’s air(s) of land— A settlement of Rapture and Resurrection, arid, amid dirt and sand and King and thy Kingdom sprout flowering tomb, and rosebud temple reach to the sky during the showers of spring Devours the crescent Moon in big pink petals of bloom; A garden so fertile it could look pretty in wartime— with Gardeners of Courage and Laborers of Excellence; (Lapse, not into digressions of Being and Essence but hands in the soil and planting the actions of kingdom come,        patient building of Spring Reign sure as the flame, the architect of rising Sun is (Daughters and Sons of kingdom came,       the soldier in a land been conquered and named; abandoned for the greenness of hope. )May it never come, Be All The Same; ( be gentle, though whispering wind) Seeds of Nextyear and the spores of Awhile, carried by the Wasps and the Clouds To the Gentlemen of Excellence and Ladies of Courage, illuminated, eyes from the flora of stars faraway forest floor of foreign       fears,       as the hungry Owls of Time prepare a final feast—       Consume the years between Here and Now;       Watching from blank perch, among       the Trees of Afterall; a place beyond expectance.       Sing the branches of experience, to wake       in Siren’s cipher; inelegant forms       of waking, ugly sleep on rocks of seabed; once was aboard a marooned skyline— Those Who Are Will Be again, again a serf in a wave of Time’s refraction. Neverending neverbeginning;                           Those Gentlemen of Courage and Ladies of Excellence, on the Day That Is, arrays of seers sayers doers displayers optimists and pessimists, toast to them         and their rarer player’s hands, Boast they, not a breathe, though sullen heirs ghost to fairer wearer’s air and land; Laugh and howl and dine, they drink their wine from disemboweled gourds         of their own divine— Warped, in jowls of hungry fix, no feast they fear, for they prey to the Owls of Time.

You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Not for long, anyway. Cake doesn’t settle well when it’s all you’ve had to eat. It’ll churn like butter inside you, and creep up your throat to project like a cannon, barreling through a wall. Cake won’t sit right with you anymore. At the mere mention of cake, your insides will crawl with disgust and an association of icing will replace your taste buds with ***** You will never be able to enjoy cake—at parties, as a delicacy, with ice cream—because you got greedy and wanted to eat your cake first rather than save it for such an occasion. Now all the different kinds of cake you fantasized about trying—black velvet, coffee cake, buttercream pound cake—will only be a reminder of your pitfall that led you to make yourself sick with desire, for cake. You can’t get the icing off your tongue, the smell of batter baking has festered in your nostrils wired to the pungent taste of red from between your teeth. But it’s all you can think of when you’ve been wronged by your favorite dessert. What sort of chemical reaction in the bowels of your stomach caused all of this sorrow? What rejected the cake? Your body has a way of telling you things—we should listen more. Cake is not sustenance, it has no value as a nutritious food. It doesn’t help, only hurts.

The icing on the cake
To **** or not to **** that’s the ******* question: Whether 'tis nobler in the bowels to suffer The twists and turns of outrageous rumblings Or to take action against a bellyful of gas, And by farting pump one out? To strain, to bloat No more; and by a mighty outburst we’ll end The gut’s ache, and the thousand natural stenches That the **** is heir to, 'tis a resolution Right devoutly to be wish'd. To **** to **** But perchance to **** there's the ******* problem; For in that mighty **** of doom what turds may come, When we have let the little beauty out from mortal tail, Must give us pause; there's the danger That makes calamity of the farter’s life; For who would bear the sneers and mocks of men, The neighbour’s shock, the lover’s curling lip, The pangs of horrid stench, the ******* o’erflowing, The leaking **** orifice, and the drips, Impatient strainings that the tragic farter makes, When he himself might sweet easance make With a careful prodding finger? Who would a ******** wear, Grunting and sweating with noisome convulsions, But that the dread of solids after air-release, The undiscover'd oozings, from whose delivery No toilet visitor recovers, puzzles the will, And makes us bear the bellyache we have Than fly to others we know not of? Thus indigestion does make cowards of us all; And then the native heave of constipation Is sicklied o'er with the pale fear of defecation; And enterprises of both ******* and crapping With this regard, their currents turn awry, And lose the name of exciting toilet action.

Toilet paper, You are the only one who Puts up with all my crap. You listen when no one else will To all my groaning and moaning. You share all my private moments And follow me from the bowels of hell Into the plumbing of despair. Toilet paper, You have seen my most private parts, The dark crevices of my flesh, Where no one will go. And should I sneeze You will wipe my nose. You will take away my filth, And your softness can embrace The sewage of my soul And the flakes of flesh That my heart has discarded. Toilet paper, You are the only one I know Who kisses my ***

The day the earth sneezed
There, in God’s country, the benign ruler Had promptly burst out of the earth’s bowels. A sea of coconuts smothered, sultrily, The most unwilling moss-painted houses The banyan raised its feet high enough For hundreds of creepy monsoon-creatures. The journey began in silver slanting rain Waiting for streaks of pure white sunshine To crawl through upright areca nut barks. As the telephone wires went up and down A floating bird quickly froze in the sky. First the coconut fronds ran to the hills Then the chilly plants , go red in the face Inside, they of the uncertain *** beat the wind Out of their joined palms in forced cadence. The floor-mopping boy under our large feet Looked with money-wetness in his brown eyes. The train went spluttering for lack of puff While gravel stones hit its forbidden parts.

the banners are blowing steady (fully extended in the hot august wind) contemporary in style tightly trimmed and all gloriously dressed in the latest colors and hues it’s a fleeting distraction though as the caskets and children and grieving widows are rolled steadily across the burning tarmac it’s the beginning of that inevitable two part proceeding a skotoma for the ages delusionary in nature rich in grays and eerily reminiscent of that foreign reign clipped in silence with dark roots of fear set deep in the bowels of a chapter of unimaginable sin indifference as pronounced as the accompanying salutes haphazard sentiments that are cloaked in the horror of endless aborted days forgotten buggies and bunkers and rat packs *how could the switch be set so wrong?* it’s truly an illusion (this way of the world) simple indulgence can grow so beastly and consuming try telling the tale to the tibetan monks or broad peak sherpas (those boys know how to get it done!) how to bask in the ice cold waters how to savor the lava hot falls *couldn’t the others have figured this one out?* the flags have settled at half mass and are tinted in a charred yellow brown the lifeless dreams and inspirations now in the rear view leif running solo (exempt of his trusted gunners) ready for the numbered lines his eyes open to the ever changing enemy at hand

The hair is almost normalized, The hands we hardly notice, Real news is, with my ensemble, A red tie splashes well. I bear your false witness, The hookers and the lies, I'd get the heebie-jeebies, If I ****** with the FBI. But the skin, the skin, What color's that, That hides the blackness found within. That wraps a frame that wracks the sane, And covers a skull with dubious brains. It conceals the bloated air, From lungs to lips, From bowels to his finger tips. It doesn't matter how his fits, It can't conceal he's full of ****

Ode to Skin
[Dedicated to Austin Osman Spare] Have pity ! show no pity ! Those eyes that send such shivers Into my brain and spine : oh let them Flame like the ancient city Swallowed up by the sulphurous rivers When men let angels fret them ! Yea ! let the south wind blow, And the Turkish banner advance, And the word go out : No quarter ! But I shall hod thee -so ! While the boys and maidens dance About the shambles of slaughter ! I know thee who thou art, The inmost fiend that curlest Thy vampire tounge about Earth's corybantic heart, Hell's warrior that whirlest The darts of horror and doubt ! Thou knowest me who I am The inmost soul and saviour Of man ; what hieroglyph Of the dragon and the lamb Shall thou and I engrave here On Time's inscandescable cliff ? Look ! in the plished granite, Black as thy cartouche is with sins, I read the searing sentence That blasts the eyes that scan it : **** and SET be TWINS." A fico for repentance ! Ay ! O Son of my mother That snarled and clawed in her womb As now we rave in our rapture, I know thee, I love thee, brother ! Incestuous males that consumes The light and the life that we capture. Starve thou the soul of the world, Brother, as I the body ! Shall we not glut our lust On these wretches whom Fate hath hurled To a hell of jesus and shoddy, Dung and ethics and dust ? Thou as I art Fate. Coe then, conquer and kiss me ! Come ! what hinders? Believe me : This is the thought we await. The mark is fair ; can you miss me ? See, how subtly I writhe ! Strange runes and unknown sigils I trace in the trance that thrills us. Death ! how lithe, how blithe Are these male incestuous vigils ! Ah ! this is the spasm that kills us ! Wherefore I solemnly affirm This twofold Oneness at the term. Asar on Asi did beget Horus twin brother unto Set. Now Set and Horus kiss, to call The Soul of the Unnatural Forth from the dusk ; then nature slain Lets the Beyond be born again. This weird is of the tongue of Khem, The Conjuration used of them. Whoso shall speak it, let him die, His bowels rotting inwardly, Save he uncover and caress The God that lighteth his liesse.

I can see the way you stare at him, Virgo, the way your eyelashes become batwing shadows across your flushing cheeks when he smiles back at you I can tell how you feel about him, Virgo, the feeling that sets the cold stars embellishing the velvet in your eyes into infernos. I can only imagine the pain you felt, Virgo, when he packed you along like a decoration then left you on the curb like a Christmas tree in the New Year. I can understand why you did it, Virgo, when you stared down the white throat of the pill bottle at the dim and empty bottom of its bowels. I can't blame you for it, dear Virgo, anymore than I can blame myself.

Sprang forth with no branches or leaves. Small roots. Bore mangoes, papayas, guava and bananas. Hybrid, mid limb grafting. The trunk is a figment but it stands non less. You see my family tree never was and always will be. A roadside shade with low hanging fruit. Was never planted. It was a deposit from the bowels of an exotic bird of the jungles that sampled at leisure the offerings of the rain forests. The Hardtack and marmalade came on ships with the kings business Mixed with the Nigerian Fu-Fu ,the Aztec maize the Mayan legumes. and all points of the compass. Old Joe Denegri, The Blancaneaux , The Cattouse, The Melado, The Pinks The Flowers,The Orozco and more. And boundless from the ***** of opportunity. Piecemeal and untethered. But it is the tree that I must cling to. However rough the bark. The sap runs heavy and slow in the humid Belizean heat.To meet the earth. Cool breezes blow a haunting disharmony. A sweet unity in chaos. The soil is rich, pungent and forgiving. Soon, A bell tolls in the distance. The Sea mists my dreams. A stairway of coconut fronds to azure skies. Nighttime smells like creation. The still slackened pace. The small rat race. Tempest in a teapot. Urban-rural. Coolie gal. Creole boy. New Chinese. Old African. Ubiquitous Espania. Garinagu. Mosquito coast. Children of Mennon. Old Basque faces. Things we call races left with small traces of what? My tree, her tree, histree. I am you and you are me. I see me in your face and you see me. We are and will continue to be. Blended. a hybrid. An orchid wild.

© 2009 (Jim Sularz) Quiet mounds of yellowed tailings and dead weeds whisper low. And proud rusting relics telling tales of striking gold. The rush from East, from North and South, by wagon, train or foot. Days not all that long ago, in tall ships made of wood. “A gold rush struck in’49, all quite by accident. A burning fever that cut men to bone, in a sea of dingy tents. Day and night, they toiled and tolled, many headed home without a cent. But some packed out bags of glistening gold, and made a stop at "Buzzard’s Breath." "The town’s mud logged street, deep with horse manure, bubbled like a shallow grave. With a Sheriff’s office, a livery stable, and a church for souls to save. And a fancy house, on a grassy knoll – sign read, “Madam Lil la **** With soft, curvaceous ladies who mined for hearts – and gold of a different sort. Didn’t take long before easy gold, was extremely hard to find. And burly miners, tough as steel, moved in to hard rock mine. With bloodied knuckles, dented hats, they blasted at a furious pace. To find the gold, called the Mother Lode, yellow blood coursing through their veins! The mine they worked was called “Long Shot”, the men thought that name a curse. But the miners hankered for the handle, "Buzzard’s Breath”, and the mine’s name was reversed. As luck would say, they held a royal flush, when they hit that horse-wide vein. Of the purest gold, yet to be found, this side of the Pearly Gates. Eyes wide as saucers, they were all in awe, everyone was filthy rich. The miners should have all retired and should have cashed in all their chips. But a man’s hard to figure, when his blood is yellow, and he’s stricken with a gold fever. “Eureka! Boys, *** the dynamite and a whole lot more mining timbers!” They mined that vein to the bowels of the Earth, and the heat increased by day. "Buzzard’s Breath" became the hottest place, to Hell – the shortest way. And then one day, the men never came back. – Hell must have jumped that claim. Of the purest gold, yet to be found – that’s where the Devil mines today!” Quiet mounds of yellowed tailings and dead weeds whisper low. And proud rusting relics telling tales of striking gold. Ghosts of Buzzard’s Breath
“Eureka! I Half of the fellow father as he doubles His sea-sucked Adam in the hollow hulk, Half of the fellow mother as she dabbles To-morrow's diver in her ***** milk, Bisected shadows on the thunder's bone Bolt for the salt unborn. The fellow half was frozen as it bubbled Corrosive spring out of the iceberg's crop, The fellow seed and shadow as it babbled The swing of milk was tufted in the pap, For half of love was planted in the lost, And the unplanted ghost. The broken halves are fellowed in a ******* The crutch that marrow taps upon their sleep, Limp in the street of sea, among the rabble Of tide-tongued heads and bladders in the deep, And stake the sleepers in the savage grave That the vampire laugh. The patchwork halves were cloven as they scudded The wild pigs' wood, and slime upon the trees, ******* the dark, kissed on the cyanide, And loosed the braiding adders from their hairs, Rotating halves are horning as they drill The arterial angel. What colour is glory? death's feather? tremble The halves that pierce the pin's point in the air, And ***** the thumb-stained heaven through the thimble. The ghost is dumb that stammered in the straw, The ghost that hatched his havoc as he flew Blinds their cloud-tracking eye. II My world is pyramid. The padded mummer Weeps on the desert ochre and the salt Incising summer. My Egypt's armour buckling in its sheet, I scrape through resin to a starry bone And a blood parhelion. My world is cypress, and an English valley. I piece my flesh that rattled on the yards Red in an Austrian volley. I hear, through dead men's drums, the riddled lads, ******** their bowels from a hill of bones, Cry Eloi to the guns. My grave is watered by the crossing Jordan. The Arctic scut, and basin of the South, Drip on my dead house garden. Who seek me landward, marking in my mouth The straws of Asia, lose me as I turn Through the Atlantic corn. The fellow halves that, cloven as they swivel On casting tides, are tangled in the shells, Bearding the unborn devil, Bleed from my burning fork and smell my heels. The tongue's of heaven gossip as I glide Binding my angel's hood. Who blows death's feather? What glory is colour? I blow the stammel feather in the vein. The **** is glory in a working pallor. My clay unsuckled and my salt unborn, The secret child, I sift about the sea Dry in the half-tracked thigh.
