My captain sailed the sea
Of waves and hurricanes
Of lovers of tears

My captain who sailed the sea
He cried upon a shore
Mermaids wailed, fishes gone for help

Where is My Captain who once sailed the sea?
He was no more by the shore
Then the ocean started to mourn

He was found, My Ol' Captain
Laying rotten dead
Beneath the ship, covered red
It was heartache, they said

Savage storms,
To rock what seemed endless sea,

Our small ship,

And how it fought,
Such vicious sway,

Backwards,
Forwards,

Made senseless of direction,
In swirls of dismay,

Yet through storms we travelled,

Over merciful waves,
Past those chaotic clouds,

Onto brighter days.

An enchanted caravel beside the quay,
sailing away from its intimate port
The ocean breeze will decide the way,
seeking adventure of any sort
A siren enchantress, a beautiful sound,
as the ship is precariously careening
A beastly Kraken has been found;
The enchanted crew beseeching,
“Let us please continue our Journey, beast”
The Siren and Kraken seem charmed
The mystical creatures could care in the least,
if the magical crew was harmed
And so the caravel took up its sail,
and turned it on its side
Taking to the skies it would not fail,
among the stars it will hide.

I thought the storm had ceased,
passed by me without damage.
I thought we withstood the test,
anchored
in the harbor.
But no,
my ship is rocking,
swaying,
unsteady in the water.
Our smooth ride
has come to an abrupt halt -
each untruth you spew,
throws another wave in our course.
Every break
at the peak of each wave
heaves
the water over my sides,
filling me,
weighing me down,
and I don't know how long I can swim.

The storm rages on,
As the girl stares beyond.
A ship that is sinking,
Full of weasels and sods.
There's no room for sharing,
Or to be open minded.
Instead your voice is lost,
In a box we're confined in.

The waves grow stronger,
Wearing down the seams.
Worrying whose side is worse,
Rather than calming the seas.
An abundance of bickering,
Yet a scarcity of repairs.
A ship forever sailing,
Fueled on internal affairs.

The anchor weighs down the boat like a weary and uncertain heart. Aching and rusted, these chains increasingly weak as each roaring wave strains it more and more. The wooden sides of the boat are at maximum capacity, the mast already torn from the storm’s massive winds. Tears of god flood the deck as the storm grows nearer.

From inside the cabin sits a wise man upon an uncomfortable rusted chair. He no longer looks outside for signs of damage to the boat, as the boat is all he has left and he cannot handle worrying about it any longer. The cabin floor sways out to the open sea from the undertow, almost as if a magnet is pulling it away from the safety of the shore.

In just a few hours, the strongest force of the storm will be here. In anticipation, the man simply sits and waits in the vessel, fully prepared to go down with it, still clinging on to a clouded hope that his home will withstand its toughest test.

The man asks himself just one thing as he waits … “Will my heavy heart stay grounded through the toughest of times, or will the winds pull me drifting into the lonely sea? Time will tell. ”

Insurmountable.
Like ocean, where ships set sail.
Prodigal and free.

A poem for love.

I peer out the porthole into the chaos of the storm,
Disorder, my sole companion

Blue waves crash along the jagged rocks
sprays of melancholic gloom
the wind howls
sounding like the ghosts of past memories
decayed wooden decks rotting from
the salty air
a wailing gust originates from the rusting iron of the ships hull
a hex is placed on it’s journey as the shadowy vessel tears through
the gloomy waters of its past

The past is only a memory,
as I find myself once again in the company of madness

The good captain knows that when his ship is going down
he must try to get everyone off safely before they drown.
Only at the last moment he thinks of himself if no one else is around
and his mind is then at peace knowing everybody is safe and sound.
