you occupy the cracks
in this broken heart of mine
// tere aane par jaana maine, kahin na kahin zinda hoon main //

My best friend had just gone to get pizza, left me in the car. I put my feet up and sat back lighting a cigarette, feeling the smoke heavy and dense in my lungs, piling on top of the remains from the joint we had just finished. I was sitting in the centre of Rome, looking out the car window up at the tall buildings, fading colours and dim lights, accompanied by the live music from a nearby restaurant.
I remember closing my eyes for a second, realising the state of happiness and tranquillity I had reached. The reassurance of just knowing that my friend would be back any minute, with that huge smile of hers and pizza in her hand yelling my name. Just the idea of that happening was enough to make me giggle. The tranquillty of knowing that I was home, of knowing that wherever we were together could be made home, of knowing that we were about to meet with more poeple that made me feel that way, of knowing how ******* lucky I was, of finally knowing that feeling of pure happiness. I don't think everyone is lucky enough to feel this way. I don't think it's common at all; to be so in touch with the people around you, to be so accepted and to feel so much love. I had never felt more at home; and it was that overwhelming sense of feeling complete, of finding that inner peace, that was the best feeling I have ever felt.

He stays the night,
Forgets to go home.
His parents are worried sick,
But at least they're alone.

He kisses her forehead,
He kisses her cheek.
She smiles, she's nervous,
Her legs are all weak.

He touches her face,
It feels like her soul.
And she knows that;
**Without him, she'll never be whole.
But she died before she could be complete.

Love me like a plum tree
in full bloom
bursting against a cloudless
crystal-blue sky

love me like tender mist
descending over
an endless
rugged mountain road

love me...with all the abandon
of a sudden wild rain

with all the mysteriousness
of deep midnight
forest echoes

love me like tears
glistening on cheeks

love me
in all my seasons
in all my phases

with all the wholeness
of light in the heart

with all the rights
and all the wrongs

but love me, especially
when life
tears me apart
and i am living in half

love me
with all the fullness
of a moon
a flower...
a breath...
a kiss.

Je serai poète et toi, la poésie.*
I will be the poet and you, the poetry.

But it is not the words
That I scribbled out in arduous hand,
The slopes of my letters,
That quite encompass
The ***** of you leaning against
The pane of my window in the rains.

Nor is it the soft cursive
In which I gently wrote down
Your expression when a flake of snow
Soft and tender;
Rustling through the branches of fir
To land on your nose,
Ever so gently;
That can quite tell the world
What your clear laughter does
To an hour of gloom.

I knew then,
That my mind, with its fractured
Concepts disjoint syllables and tripping verse might not be capable
Of putting pen to paper
And recall your fiery eyes,
When they pierce the veil of
Young melancholy
And beckon me to act my age,
And not a morbid royal spinster.

And I thought of how you knew
In far more precise details how
After a weary day, I flopped down
On to the couch in monotonous exhaustion
Wiping my brow, shaking off the
Metaphorical dust.
You knew, far better than me,
The blurred movements of my hands
As I traced words in the air.

I watched you watch me
Move and I watched as you noted
The crest of every breath I took.

And I thought.

Tu sera poète et moi, la poésie.
You will be the poet and I, the poetry.
First attempt at romantic poetry ugh.

I am like a sentence
and you're the full stop
No matter how long the sentence is,
it does not complete
without a full stop

You complete me
Full stop
Full stops are used to mark the end of a sentence that is a complete statement
I had these moths flying around in my stomach
Emptiness & cold *******

Every now and then I stepped down from my throne
Entertained clowns and laughed at their jokes

I even comforted fools
Then suddenly I stumbled into you..

These moths turned into butterflies
I bet you didn't even know our first kiss had me mesmerized

Overwhelmed with excitement
Having someone to complement my intellect was enticing

You really are someone worth writing for
Not to mention your worth riding for

I could finally wear my crown without having to cover its shine
Knowing your shine is just as bright as mine

I guess I wouldn't have to say how it felt when I looked in your eyes
Needless to say that's what woke up these butterflies
I wish I could've written it better but it's so hard to explain how amazing you make me feel.
And as the stars collide, they glimmer in your eyes. My heartbeat races and my thoughts are sent sky high. Cause I saw the future a short ways away, with you by my side I'm set to sail away.

3
3 words I hold close to my heart
They hesitate to step on my tongue
I'd rather go spin my poetic art
then say what's already been sung
I love you

you complete my thoughts before i utter a word
you speak as if you take the words out of my mouth
robbing me of the sentences that are filled with doubt
and changing them to certainty, like a frown turned upside down
i don't always know what to say, but with you, you turn that around
but sometimes i feel bad, that i can't find the exact words to say
yet you keep talking, word after word
whether be it on screen or the voice inside your head, the tips of your fingers, or the whispers that have yet to be said
with a mind so beautifully written
i wonder if you truly are too clever for your own good
yet i am thankful for your way of words
for the comfort and for the person on the other side
and if given enough time to find the words i could
they wouldn't be enough to suffice how amazing of a person you are

but i know in the end, i need not explain, for we both know, my incomplete thoughts will be understood
