Mastmaula - The happy go lucky little turtle

On the beaches of Konkan
Lived a few families of turtles
For ages it has been their home .

Amongst them lived Mastmaula a young and adventurous turtle
To explore the surroundings he loved, popular and lovable , a friend to all .
Many a times he would stray away and had to be fetched by the elders in the group .

He loved visiting  the homes of the fishermen who lived by the sea.
Particularly fond of cabbage fed by the fisherwomen .

Amusingly he was also fond of music .
And loved to dance

The fishermen went fishing by the day
And would celebrate  the catch and their life by evenings .
Music played  and seafood savoured in almost every home.

Mastmaula was sure to visit, the fisherman 's house when there used to be a party.
One of the evenings , there was one going on in one of the houses , music was loud with party lights on.
And ,the food yes cabbage in colours, purple and green ,
Mastmaula knew would sure be part of the menu.

The fisherman's family had guests coming from afar
The occasion , an engagement ceremony .
As the music went on , Mastmaula went turtle and began to spin.
And sure he did have a few amazing moves , which caught the guests' eyes
And one of them ,fancied  carrying Mastmaula to their home.
The host opposed but the guest's  7 year old daughter Mili loved Mastmaula and wanted him to be part of her family . The host reluctantly obliged.

Soon , it was dark and a bale of turtles were out to fetch back Mastmaula home. They knew where to  find him.
Reaching the party venue and not finding him there they panicked and soon swelled in numbers.

The fishermen family knew it was time to call their guest ,who had taken away  Mastmaula .
The guest hurriedly came back with Mastmaula in a little basket and placed him down .
Mastmaula was overjoyed to reunite with his family and promised them all that he would never stray away and be careful of his visits alone to the fishermens homes.
Have always told self invented bed time stories to my boys .
My older son , Amitabh has been fond of 'The Hare and the Tortoise' since he was a toddler , have told him many , cause he always to listen to a new version .
Last night came up with this story of a young turtle .
I haven't ever written any story so far . This is the first that I have documented and so thought of sharing here on HP.

My mother tongue /Native language is Hindi .
Narrated the boys this story in Hindi .

MastMaula means -Happy go Lucky

Dedicated to both my sons , Amitabh and Anshul  :)
Thank you all for reading
We are not heroes.
We are just people,
trying to survive.
You and I,
are not equals.
You work from home
while I...
I work to ensure
that I get to keep mine.
They call us essential,
because we provide
all the food and the things
that help keep you alive.
But I am resentful
that I don't get to decide,
What is more worthy,
my labor or life?
So don't call me a hero.
I am simply doing
what has to be done.
Don't call me a hero,
unless you plan to treat
and pay me like one.

In my heart you'll
Forever beating
with me and smile so
Bright and feel
My heart touching
Yours every night
And always
Smile so bright
And never frown
At night
And always smile
So bright
Because I'm in
Your heart
Day and night.

Freedom is being free in spirit body and mind

Born in a free country
I have my freedom to express my thoughts
Freedom to persue my dreams
Freedom to visit the places I desire
Freedom to do whatever I like
And be a law abiding citizen

My Independence has come for a price
Paid by the many freedom fighters of my country
Who fought till their last breath
I cannot fathom their struggle

It only brings me tears
When I listen to the patriotic songs
Watch movies
Read the story
The truth , the history of the struggles

We had many rulers
We allowed

But today
I enjoy my freedom

With deep gratitude and respect
I salute
To the many freedom fighters
To The Armed forces of my country
For protecting and safeguarding me
When I enjoy my freedom , my life
I salute them all
And Recite , The Pledge

And promise that I will never bring dishonour to my country .

Happy Independence Day to my Country

Love Peace and Harmony to the World !

I'm watching as the river
Flows down the valley
Through the fields of green
So slowly and softly
And the birds stop for a drink
It will never stop flowing.
River Flowing ❤️🕊️💞💗🎉

Reality is
whether
we know it or not
Every time we post
something
We’re impacting
Someone’s life
From the words
that we say
to the things that
we write
This is something
I think often
My impact
How about you?
let’s leave selfishness at the door
and take a stand to change
our surroundings for the better
No trolls in poetry.... How will you handle that ?

Dear love,

In this moment,
our steps feel familiar,
like we’ve danced here before.

Words feel familiar,
like we’ve sung them before.

The air feels familiar,
like we’ve breathed it before.

My dearest,
your lips feel familiar,
like we’ve kissed before,
in another time,
another life.

Tell me, love,
do you feel it too?
Or am I alone
in this déjà vu?
Déjà vu — a mesmerizing whisper of familiarity....
:)

Colors fall
laughter rises.
Pink, green, yellow, red
then a hug.

Hands, cheeks, hearts,
all the same,
we find unity
in the mess.

A day to cherish,
crafting memories
that never fade.
Holi is a festival that comes from an old Hindu story about Prince Prahlad and his evil aunt, Holika. Prahlad, a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu, was saved from a fire by divine intervention, while his evil aunt, Holika, perished in those flames. This symbolizes the victory of good over evil. It also marks the arrival of spring. A lot of delicioussss snacks and dishes are prepared (my fav part of this festival... hehehe)
Well, let us live in harmony, spreading peace and happiness. Happy Holi to all my HP friends!!!!!

Look up to the blue sky
with some tears for me,
and find the happiness
O Mom, look up for me!

Mama, if you feel hurt
Forget all the pride
Forgive me as your son
for breaking your heart!

It's the truth of my youth
to stay on the right path
I will overcome the fear
with confidence, O Mom!

May all your prayers
be granted by the Lord
Wipe away all of your tears
Just smile, smile for me, Mom!

Arms flesh spirals rocketing
   Climbing bursting over through cloudsspace dust particles
   Explosive birth
Coronas starlights fast
     Grasped in the black
Clasped together
        In the sparkling
Universe
            Oneness symmetric
A glimpse
             Oh my love,
Heaven.

In my arms she's safe as can be
I'm so happy and so in love with you
Every day is so magical spent with you
And never a day you'll feel sad
In my heart you'll stay with me
And I'll softly whisper to you

I love you with all of my heart.

I thought if I could swallow the stars
I’d be as beautiful as the evening sky
I tried one night    with fireflies
They burned my throat
Their legs striking at soft flesh
But my skin did not glow
No moon crawled from my eye sockets
I was left with corpses in my stomach
I soon learned I would only ever be
A cemetery

Oh! Mamma hear me
please.. I'm the one
crying from your womb;
longing to see you..

I'm so excited to
see you next week.
I'm the one who need
your love and care..

I heard your sweet voice
I felt your touch. I enjoyed
your stories and poems and
all those fairy tales

I love to hear your songs
You are a good singer..
You gave me the things that
I need for my growth..

I know everyone outside
is excited to know
whether I'm a baby boy
or a baby girl...

I'm pleading you to give
me enough care I need
Gender is not the fact...
Thank to the Lord for

giving you a healthy child..
Childrens are the gift of God ,
if you deny that precious
gift, God will not forgive

to your deeds.
Oh! Mamma you are my
angel in this unknown
world.. Care me.. Love me...

You are my warmth and shelter
Yours lovingly..
Your baby child..
From your womb.......
Children are the gift of God from heaven. He appoints an angel on earth to take care of them.
Children call those angels.."MOTHER...."

for Ali, Ali, Ali, a daughter by any other name
                                                        (April 2014)
Dear Nat,

your letter caught me up,
at the Village Vanguard bar,
so addressed and there saved,
knowing, believing it's a sign,
time to meet fleshed again,
my sometimes sub-let
neighborhood friend

doing a gig there
this weekend
finishing up the tour
where it all began,
nothing gonna change my mind,
in the city that's where I'm staying.

the road is calling out my name,
but I ain't walking out the door anytime soon,
they want too much body and soul,
but don't worry once or even twice,
got some cash, it's all right

early afternoon, bar empty,
got a few rainy minutes,
got me paper n' pen
and a beer, from the
bar man who also gets
me whatever else I need (haha)

sorry I missed you in Cleveland,
you, back in New York when
I'm finally out your way,
ain't just like fate,
to make us ache so all alone

read your lyrics,
made making some suggestions,
like a baby's new clothes,
lots of bows, a few lines fell
down onto the floor
can't be found
like broken pearls on a dance floor

J. sends regards,
told her what you wrote about
A Long Black Veil, she laughed,
promises she will wear one
when next we all three meet

touring was good and hard,
traveling time is writing time,
but sitting here thinking
how many years have passed and gone
since we first met,
so many roads different taken
by many a first friend,
each one I've never seen against,
let's not that happen to us

rail riding done for awhile,
see ya back on Bleecker Street,
if we're still "cool"
we'll have that fire burning!
Ok, we'll swap some  lines, fine,
but I want, claiming dibs
on that ole easy chair

P.S. got the rent money covered till your return in the summer

April 1968
~~~~~~~~~
Between 1968 and 1973,
split my time tween Cleveland and NYC,
before returning to ny full time in the summer of '71.
I lived at 352 Bleecker,
above the long gone
but now moved to Brooklyn,
Pink Teacup restaurant. The eyetalian bakery on the corner of Bleecker and Seventh Ave., long time gone...almost fifty freaking years ago...anyway...I think the stain glass window is still there, gonna have to check it out...shoot forgot about Google Earth!
The 352 Blues
this city treats the poor
with swift unkindness,
but if you peel your eyes,
you don't necessarily have to always
sing the ole 352 Bleecker Blues
the eyetalian storekeeper,
gives us morning java,
when we sing for him on the guitar,
The Star-Spangled Banner,
refills, if we add America the Beautiful
they say that heat rises,
but that don't seem true
in our third floor walk up
on rue 352 Bleecker Street,
the cold companion enters
thru the busted stain glass window
no matter, no cares,
we light the fireplace,
with wood and anything that'll burn,
we scavenged from the street,
pallets and newspapers,
yesterday's 352 truths
at two AM, the cops, in their cars
cooping, fast asleep, only just us,
the johns, the ****** and troubadours,
walking the streets looking for
free stuff to burn
pass the hat for tips
next to the arch,
enough for daily bread
but we get our ***** and ****
for free, just for singing the 352 blues
even when down and out
on the village streets,
bleak on Bleecker street,
you gotta sing the 352 blues,
especially when you're
riding high and living cool,
down on easy Bleecker Street
~~~~~~~
Before you ask me if this true,
save your breath,
the answer is
Which part?

The radius of my love for you,
Like autumn leaves in hues so true,
Spreads wide and far, from heart to mind,
A malady of sweetest kind.

A cure I seek, but none is found,
My love for you knows no bound.
My heart beats fast, my breath grows deep,
When I am near, my love, I weep.

Oh, calm me down with some sedative,
Lest I become love's captive.
For thoughts of you consume my mind,
And leave no other thought behind.

But though my love may drive me mad,
I'd have it not, I'd not be glad,
To lose the feeling, sweet and pure,
That makes my heart for you endure.

So let me be, my love, my dear,
And let my love for you appear,
In every word and every deed,
A love that's sown and never freed

Each day is one of unpredictability,
a meaningless forecast of the weather's
facade, too volatile to contemplate
in the midst of the browning leaves.

The hillsides, covered in a verdant green,
ripple above the river's trickling surface,
rising to the right and sinking to the left,
a cardiograph caressing a decaying heart.

It is most difficult to withstand the droughts
of summer, hastily transitioning to the blizzards
of winter before falling as the drops of Springtime
rain; even autumn at times can bring a bitter chill.

Yet the key is to take each day one at a time,
a solemn refusal to glance at climatic uncertainty,
but instead a gentle acceptance of life's sporadicity
and the fluctuating differences each morning presents.

I light a candle
For the sick
And suffering today
And I'm smiling away
Praying to the Lord
Jesus Christ today and
He's in my heart beating
Away and with the Lord's
Guiding light he guide's
Me home safe every night
And I stop and pray for
All the sick and suffering
Every day and we'll love you
Lord Jesus Christ and you'll be
Forever in our Heart's to stay.
I want to lay you down on thick grass
In a meadow surrounded by forest
To look upon the quiet reflected in your face
Where is all that drama?
Gone without a trace.
Clothes become gone, too
And I just sit in awe of naked, beautiful you
We sun in silence
‘Cept the birds
Collecting all our unsaid words
Singing them back in bird language
Is this Heaven? Can I be dead?
Time seems to be kind
Lazy passing by
So comfortable between us
We don’t even have to try
