Roger Turner - Poet
The firelight was fading
The shadows grew in size
In the distance if you listened
You could hear the faintest cries
Of coyotes and of timber wolf
Signalling the end of day
Howling at the growing moon
Keeping night spirits at bay

The last piece of the sagebrush
Was burning to it's core
The flames that danced as quicksilver
Now, they danced no more
The fire, once was blazing
It's flames a dangerous height
Was now a nest of coal chunks
to warm us through the night

Four days out and three to go
We'd be in two days ahead
The scheduled trip with this years herd
And we'd be back in our own bed
A smaller group of beef this time
But, that's the way it goes
At least we'd leave the mountains
Before the early snows

Coffee from the morning meal
Was still sitting in the ***
Two minutes in the embers
And it was steaming hot
The first round of watch was up
And the coffee was re done
The second watch, for wolves and things
Needed coffee and a gun

Two went down the first night out
We heard the wolves, but missed them all
They'd been following us for three days now
And at night you'd hear them call
They signalled that the day was done
And that the herd was staying still
The darkness was their element
It was time for them to ****

The fire was near finished
The flames were all but smoke
but that cup of cowboy coffee
put life into this old grey cowpoke
If the wolves kept at a distance
And just kept howling at the moon
We'd lose no more beef tonight
And be home two days from noon

The fire spit and crackled
The night was damp and cold
The stars were silent beacons
To the wolves so quick and bold
We heard them in the distance
Howling loud as if to say
Will you make it through till morning?
Wait until we come to play.....

I was truly aware..
First things first is that i took flight..

In the dream i flew over the countryside..
then over the oceans..

It was limitless!!
I could fly as fast as i wanted to..

I begin to notice an orange glow there on the cliffs by the shore..
It almost looked like a window in the rocks..

I begin to fly toward this glow and saw it to be a sort of window..
I entered into a circular room made entirley of wood..

The floor had a sort of golden and silver sand to it..
There were others there also..

At the center of this place was a flame that burned..
It burned with a green flame..

As i drew near it the flame then turned into a sky blue color..
This was my color, and as the flamed burned i could now hear the thoughts of everyone here..

" You have found a dream chamber.." you are the sky blue soul." welcome sky blue......

I can always tell when I am on a different planet..  At times much of the surface looks the same as others...  But its when the stars come out at night..  Misplaced and rearranged they seem.. The stars of someone else's sky reminds me that I am never in the same place.. The constellations all have their stories..  I call it the book of stars.. As it is never ending to all the different eyes that behold them somewhere in time elsewhere...   This star page tells me I am on Earth tonight.. Orion is the first to greet me..  I must continue on..
The stars can tell you everything...

I'll always be back...
I was never gone, nor will I ever will be..

I don't need money
I've got friends
And that is all I need
My life is full
Of things I love
I've got everything I need

Money can't buy happiness
At least that's what they say
I don't know, I've never tried it
So, I won't argue today
I've all I need,
Not all I want
But, things will come in time
There's those who covet everything
Including what is mine

My life is full
I have my love
My wife, my friend
We share what we have equally
And we will until our end
Contentment fills my life with joy
I am happy with my lot
I've learned to live with what I have
And accept what I have not

My life is full of laughter
I'm fine...can you not tell
I've friends and love of family
No money...just as well

Late night walk.. at peace under the stars and street lights. That is until I hit crossline street. No streetlights Just dark road. Its at this point the stars show themselves true. 10pm clicks on through. I see a white line in the sky. Its very faint and barley visible. I think its a chemtrail maybe a long thin cloud. For 2 weeks I see this white line at 10 pm and finally realise it to be a beam of light. It shines for but 2 minutes and then turns off. I decided to go on the otherside of town one night and see this beam of light brighter arc across the sky. I also see this light is coming from above the hills. On the next night I wait at the hills.. and at 10 pm the light shined on through. From a trailer window alone up here I find a girl whom had been missing for three years.. this was no white line.. this was an s.o.s that I found in darkness without streetlights..

I am a paradox
I love flowers, but I am not the kind of girl that you give them to.
I come alive at night, yet I'm afraid of the dark.
I am a messy person, but I like for things to be clean.
I have much to say, and say nothing at all.
I feel the need to run far, but despise running.
I am easily hurt yet I won't let you close enough to do that.
I have a wild heart trapped in a cage.
I am full of love but I won't give it anymore.
I love blue eyes yet I fell for brown.
I miss you but I don't wish for you.
I prefer being alone yet I hate being lonely.
I am complicated but easy to figure out.
I am neon pink yet prefer navy.
I am full, but I am still not filled.

I would pull stars from the sky
Swim the deepest ocean blue
If it gave me just a little piece
of more time spent with you

Do you want me to slay dragons
Beneath the mountain high
In order to spend time with you
or just pull stars from the sky?

Whatever it takes to win your heart
That's all you have to ask
Whatever it takes to win your heart
Just give me a new task
Whatever it takes to win your heart
I'll sail the ocean blue
Whatever it takes to win your heart
I'd do it all for you

How high, how much
How many, how low
just tell me and I'll do
I'll spin straw into gold
just to spend more time with you

how fast, how far
how quick, how slow
ask me something new
i'll make diamond out of chunks of coal
just to spend more time with you

Whatever it takes to win your heart
That's all you have to ask
Whatever it takes to win your heart
Just give me a new task
Whatever it takes to win your heart
I'll sail the ocean blue
Whatever it takes to win your heart
I'd do it all for you

I'll catch a star from the night sky
I'll navigate the seas
I'll go on an adventure
If you'll spend your life with me

I'll climb the highest mountain
I'll fly into the sun
Whatever it takes to win your heart
And hear that I'm your only one

Whatever it takes to win your heart
That's all you have to ask
Whatever it takes to win your heart
Just give me a new task
Whatever it takes to win your heart
I'll sail the ocean blue
Whatever it takes to win your heart
I'd do it all for you

I had always told you I will always love you
Even longer than you promised to love me.
You said you loved me more than the sun does the moon,
But my love had depth greater than the sea.

You said you'd love me for more days
Than there were stars in the night sky.
And I said I'd love you a trillion more days
After the instant you were to die.

My heart had brought me to the final conclusion
That you and I will be together.
But the thoughts in my mind reminded me
That there isn't a thing that lasts forever.

I wish to let go of these haunting truths
So there isn't a day we would be apart,
But you never understood me well enough to know
I think with my mind & not with the heart.

i learned something baby
by stepping out on you
i found your friend would do the things
you just wouldn't do

dinner, drinks and dancing
I was stepping out on you
In the end I found out why
I'm in love with only you

I vowed to love you over no one else
Our love was stale and stuck up on the shelf
I had to re ignite it, remember just why I love you
And the way I found out was, By Stepping out on you

I learned just what it was
that made me fall for you
I remembered all those things
by stepping out on you

I vowed to love you over no one else
Our love was stale and stuck up on the shelf
I had to re ignite it, remember just why I love you
And the way I found out was, By Stepping out on you

I've got to tell you baby
I love all that you do
I learned just why I love you
By stepping out on you
I learned just why I love you
by stepping out on you

Gates and boards and reels of wire
Garbage by the gates
Driveway overgrown with grass
The factory is a state

Security checks once an hour
To make sure all's still locked
Another business shut it's door
the economy was rocked

Another workplace bites the dust
Another one shuts down
To find the business district here
You've got to leave the town

They're closing up 'bout one a month
Jobs are leaving by the score
When you leave, turn out the lights
And please folks, lock the door

Work is leaving faster than
It has ever in the past
There's more folks on assistance
How long will this all last?

Fifty years a hundred ten
Factories closing shop
There's more buildings that are vacant
Our growth came to a stop

It doesn't matter where you go
It's all the bottom line
If they can do it cheaper
Then out goes the "CLOSING" sign

It all comes down to profit
You're a number not a name
It doesn't matter where you go
Plant closure is the game

Another workplace bites the dust
Another one shuts down
To find the business district here
You've got to leave the town

They're closing up 'bout one a month
Jobs are leaving by the score
When you leave, turn out the lights
And please folks, lock the door

I'll wait for you forever
till stars forget to shine,
and oceans become puddles,
words no longer rhyme

Till deserts turn to gardens
where flowers go to bloom,
the grass is red, the skies are green,
the dawn brings out the moon

Till rain is something very dry
and butterflies drive trucks,
when every pond is chocolate sauce
with candy coated ducks

Till basements have a penthouse view
with windows three floors high
and stairways are a place to swim
no matter how you fly

Till mountains are a level path
that you will go to walk
and silence now becomes a way
for every one to talk

Till everything we've ever known
is gone and disappeared
The world does end, there's nothing more
just like we always feared

Till broken hearts are happy,
tears a welcome site
Night comes at the break of day
and daytime looks like night

I'll wait for you forever
until the end of time
It matters not how long it takes
if I can call you mine
