And you taught me not to give my heart away.

You taught me not to trust strong arms and tall bodies.
You taught me that strong arms can wrap around my neck, just as easily as they can wrap around my waist.
You taught me that tall bodies are good to hold, but can hold you back, just as forcefully as they can hold you down.
I learned that you can't trust strong arms and tall bodies.
I learned that you shouldn't fall for sweet words and the perfect smile

And I learned not to give my heart to fallen angels because they'll put it through hell.

We struggle with what our parents taught us
That it was wrong to love the same gender
That we need to stay away from the colored folk
That thin people were beautiful and thick was unhealthy
and to stay away from the weird ones.
Even that if you have *** before you're married, you're a *****
and if they aren't Jesus lovers then they were raised poorly.
They taught us money and looks over love
and that an animal is just an animal.
They taught you wrong.
Love is love no matter the gender
A person is a person no matter the color
No matter the weight
No matter the appearance
No matter the personality
No matter the ****** activity
No matter the religion
and an animal is not just an animal.. It's a life.
Your parents taught you wrong
So I will teach you right.

MAYBE I DESTROY EVERY REALTIONSHIP THAT I HAVE NOW BECAUSE WHEN I WAS YOUNG I WAS TAUGHT THAT YELLING MEANS LOVING

Ever since I was little
I was taught NOT to trust people... they will hurt you.
They are Sick, Perverted, Homicidal, Suicidal;
From **** to A *******.

But now...
I'm scared of everyone
terrified
but I ignore it & act like a 'People' person.

The bestfriend whom I loved
got lost somewhere between
six and seven, but

Along the way I found myself
and learned a major lesson.

They tell me to stand tall,
be proud and survive it all.
They tell me I am needed,
They say I am loved, cared for,
then again sometimes conceded .

I say; "That might be true, but like life,
it's neither easy nor is it see through."

For arguments sake hear me out:
Don't stick to your guns,
there is always a shadow of a doubt.
Trust and faith, you see,
Are not what change would implore.
For deep in your core, just hear me,
Life is a struggle known forever more.

And while we're brought up, taught and told
that true strength should conquer all,
as to where to get it we have no clue.
Unarmed fending for ourselves we find out the truth.

my tears don't threaten to spill
they run down freely
fiercely
without my permission
i never really did learn how to choke down a sob
i was never taught to do so

We met in mid April
And I think
That it was our love
That taught flowers
To bloom.
