And after the storm the wind scatters
You take stock of how much of yourself you’ve lost
Checking for new scars and bones rattled
Reeling from the shell shock
Picking up the now rearranged thesis of who you are
Dusting off your soul and it’s unrecognizable in the light
So you sit there in silence
Fathoming every reason you’re still alive
You dive a little deeper
Delving secrets from the mind
You can’t describe what you’re seeking
But it feels like paradise
An infinite calm but only out of the corner of your sight
Contact is imminent
But perhaps this isn’t the time
If not now then when?
It’s the same question presented to you at the eye
After you’ve splayed into everything you will see in ice and shadows
But as you are it stands for something out of reach
And then wind picks up again
As every storm is not without meaning

It’s not easy calming down…
                                          This feeling…
Calming down— this feeling
                                                                    Calming down…*

It was the way you moved
You had the galaxy behind you
Must admit I swooned into another lifestyle
Cigarette kisses just to taste your exile
Stranded and **** I sort of loved the way you treated me
Passed out
Drunken mess
Loved the way you sang to me
Course it wasn’t meant to be forever
Light traveled onto something better
But the shadow left was something tethered
So unexpected was the way my heart lingered
Long nights
No sleep
Wretched in demeanor
Chasing ***** with tequila
Now the cigarette kisses were my life
What the **** did I get into when I said you were forever on my mind
Another circumstance
Another lesson from the shifting sands
More than perspective this was how I learned to take a stand
So thank you
This convalescent had some kind of breakthrough
Over time the words collected
Future past and present found the same truths you gave me
I was being selfish
On some lame rouse to break free
I was really helpless
So with this I really wanna let you know
That I’m grateful
Mean you really gave the kid a chance to grow
Now the rain’ll wash the pain away
It means I’m off to find some better days
So safe travels, soft beds, and make waves

For life is continuous as long as they wait to be read
these inked paths opening into the future, page after page,
every book Its own receding horizon. And I hold them, one in each hand,
a curious ballast weighting me here to the earth.

there was the sun.
brighter than anyone could believe,
passionate with its fire.

and the moon.
a sentimental romantic,
with a wild shimmer.

the moon lusted the luminescent brilliance of the day,
the sun fell for the vivacious spark of night,
and soon the two fell deeply in love.

now the sun had a fate,
a generational inevitability,
of an almighty “solar eclipse.”

solicitous about the phase to come,
as the vibrant colors of blood red
occupied their minds

fret none, said the sun,
for i rise and set for you, my dear,
perhaps the “solar eclipse” may not transpire at all.

but it did.
and the moon did nothing but stand in the way,
as the sun relished in the luminescent glory.

and just like any crossing of paths,
the eclipse came to an end,
and they went their separate ways.

Standing in your own light
Creating yourself a shadow
Now it’s too dark to see
Wherever it is you’re going
The light is fading fast
And you’re all alone
There’s no one there beside you
To help you find your light again
You can’t move out the way
It’s too hard to do so
You want someone to move you
Send you in the right direction
Out of the way of the light
So you can see your path again

Your heart is a daedal
You feel no worth in skin and bone
Your fingernails have carved your name
Into your headstone

As we sat in the shadows
Hand in hand, we walked the maze
Though my eyes had not adjusted,
This is where you spent your days.

So you knew every path and problem there,
With an intimacy I could not tell.
You led me through, though solemn,
Explaining every step as well.

Then one of your demons grabbed you,
As we reached the apogee.
You cried, and though it was darker still,
I could suddenly see.

I saw every tunnel differently
Than I had before,
And I realized why when you left the maze
your skin was always sore.

So I tried to take your demons
But as I tried, your skin would split.
And I realized your demons are part of you
As you are part of it.

And I feel I should be your deliverer,
But I don't know what to do.
How can I defeat your darkness
When your darkness is part of you?

All is vanity*

Denied, all under a veil of secrecy,
Big waves that are hidden in the
Darkness of night, still turn boats,
Capsized by the enormous vast
Presence that no one sees but still
In essence we feel we're "safer," guided
By the way of the darkest truths light.

It controls each person, to hide unique
Truths with our own vague, hidden lie,
Make sure we all know it's there,
My how we stumble upon the nail
In the dark, whilst cleaning our visible
Skins surface of debris. It's all you see,
The "devil" is that cessation of this pain,
This suffering foot that bleeds.

You turn the corner and find yourself
Unawares in the darkness of this light,
Hidden underneath your cotton enclosure,
It will lead you in "earnest," it will show you the way,
It will empty your purse of quarters, it will make
Sure the suns light can never find you in the fullness of
Natures own "un-important" borders.

Upon a path that is no more
A way, a way, deep in memory
The natural parting like hair on a newborn
Having a beginning and an end
Pause, as you look upon the path
That is no more or will ever be
And the wind will whisper in your ear to remind
That this path belonged to another
Yours is there
Along the fence that borders the meadow

There in the moment arises hope,
Of caring for each other's lives.
Dancing with each other off and on the spotlight,
The ties that bind us an unbroken bond.
This is the key of the necessity that is necessary for both lives,
Seeing the world through different eyes.
Their paths different yet similar,
Their choices many and few.
What is needed and necessary is right in front of them,
Their views, their experiences, and just life in general.
Now I know what this relationship means,
And what in life I must bring.
