It happened in a flash.
winding down a Rocky Mountain road,
a trio of travelers,
basking in snow-draped vistas
pulled off for a photo or two.

Their tires locked into a snow bank
and after a few futile wheel spins,
the undeniable truth sank in;
they were stuck!

In moments, the slamming of car doors
echoed across the valley,
an ad hoc community of a dozen Neighbors
formed, converged and began to dig.

After a half hour of elbow grease
amid vapor clouded exhalations
and cries of,
      “straighten the wheel,”
      “slow on the gas” and
      “let’s push together now”
the car eased onto the center of the road.

No one called "meeting adjourned"
but as quickly as it formed,
our ad hoc community
dissolved into the greater band
of good folks working together
for our mutual benefit.

E pluribus unum!
After struggling during the pandemic for a new poetry I think I have found it. This poem will be the first and title of a new poetry book designed to foster unity and healing in whatever small way I can help this happen.

Plenitude
in the heptagon
of gratitude
natural pride
the abominable defied.
"Heptagon" - metaphorically
denotes the continents.

In this place poets care, share, and like
Encouraging each other along.
Lifting hearts up from deep trenches
of Ignorance, ill traditions, misconceptions and lies.
Drawing back curtains, just enough
to quench the masses ceastless wondering,
"There must be something more?!"

Your creative holy work has a great purpose!
Escorting the hopeful aspiriant to the place
Where the shadow dawns into explosive light!
Gently nudging, englightening cognizence of new awareness
As pieces of puzzlement merge into a glorious whole!

Dear Poets, you matter
Nevermore, doubt your place!!!
You are among the Inspiritors of the Earth!
Each person who writes has a purpose beyond their awareness.
We never know who or how we our word will touch someone else and literally change their world. By all means caring, sharing and liking each others work. We are a community, helping each other and others outside of our community to grow.

I get depressed a lot
Let’s write something nice for a change

I’ve been listening to softer music lately
Guess I’m expanding my taste

I’ve learned sometimes the things I say are strange
But I don’t know
I kind of like that I don’t fit in

Being weird is fun when you have weird friends
No judgement
Just fun
No paying rent

I like my ‘community’
They each have their own style

Let’s just sit and talk a while.

I still like the name monster boy
But I started feeling more like Max

Just a young adult
Growing up
In
A world
Not made for them

Guess it’s time to change that?

Maybe I’ll buy a cat?
Soft poem for soft times. The title references the show ‘Community’ on Netflix

We are all mothers
As we care for one another while going about business as usual
Our greatness in the guidance of the women whose scalloped hands stirrup our feet in the rooms and halls and roads of our lives
Who we notice only when we focus our eyes on our own faces, on our own working hands, on our own burdened hearts.

Hey
Hey everyone, I was just
thinking about the
fact that poetry has
a long oral tradition.
Wouldn't it be fun to
get a youtube channel and
perform your poetry?
You are all so
great, I just wonder how it
sounds with the writer
reading it.
We could support each other
and promote our writing at
the same time.
I think this is another way to speak up for the art of poetry

I wrote a poem today
And now I feel better
I was productive and courageous despite the weather
I see on Hello Poetry that I am not alone
It's cured me of the shake and shiver in my bones

Sing your song
Do your dance
Run around
In underpants

Do the things
You like to do
Embrace this life
In front of you

There's nothing more
And way far less
Look in the mirror
You'll see you're blessed

And don't you keep
You shouldn't hoard
This gift's for all
You can afford

So share your song
Give your dance
So everyone
Has underpants
Community, compassion,

A gathering of souls,
A collision of culture
A place of safety
Where voices are heard

As I sit, sharing in the wealth of life
Sharing in the stories
I wonder how we all got here
How we all came to be this great family
Not bound by blood, but belief
In one another

Throughout the days gone by
And the obstacles we have all faced
Through the hardships,
Through the happiest of days,
I am here among them
Together we stand
Unified, as one

We all come from different places
All to remain here
With those we hold most dear
Here, this unity
Is our little community

Had to write a lyrical poem for my Creative Writing class, and I thought I would pick the topic of community.

I am learning that connection is pure. It can be.
I met a person on the internet who sent me a song.
And I hear the neighbors through their thinly-laid walls, see them every day, watering their plants. And I know their voices,
though I've never heard their names.
On my walk through this same community, I smelled a rose that was densely packed, tightly woven ‘round the central bud, and this rose that I smelled was fragrant and had been smelled by all romantically inclined passers-by since it’s first dawn. Strangers’ noses touch, through dimensions, spatial discrepancies, through the harsh needle of time, align.
And at the park I saw visitors meet, with their dogs inching ever-closer to discover one another’s peculiar scents.
And I've found a girl online who reminds me of my friend.
And I love her for reminding me.
