Drifting downwards on the stony hills, only to be picked up by the breeze,
I can hear my lover's voice echo off on the lonely landscape.
Where are you, my love? Your voice plays like a sadden tune,
It sinks into the chambers of my heart.
I am unsettled; I search for you aimlessly.
Wisps of dark clouds form, a gush of wind picks up, I am caught in the midst of a storm.
Again, distance and time conspire to separate us.
Unable to see, I can hear only raucous roars of thunder and lighting.
Your voice fades away.
As the wretched winds push me, I try despairingly to hold on to something.
The storm gently ceases. My eyes open, I see my arms wrapped around you.
Two lovers lost finally come together forever.
Holding hands down the paths we walk,
As the splendent sun slowly sinks in the hills,
a new chapter awaits where love finally blooms

Writing this
Means the beginning
Of the end

•~•~•

The beginning
Of a new chapter
In my life
It’ll start a little lonely
And maybe stay that way too
Or maybe I’ll change
In a good or bad way
But it’ll be change
And that’s scary
But I can make it through

•~•~•

The end
Of an older chapter
That began
Just yesterday
Or so it feels
A chapter
I regret
And wish I could change
But it is too late now
It is still a chapter in my book
And nothing can change that

Now that you are here
Come with me and be my dear
I shall have no fear
memoona kazmi Feb 2019
i thought you were only a chapter,
in the book of my life,
realized that at your last goodbye,
without knowing,
you will always be the beginning of every page,
and ending of my every story,
you will be behind every door,
that i'll try to open,
try to close,
you will be thread sewing my book,
the glue sticking my book pages together,
i thought your part in my life was over,
you'll go your way,
i'll be on mine,
how insane was i,
not having even a single notion,
that on every path of my life,
i'll have your silhouette,
tracing me like a nightmare,
accompanying me,
trailing me away from light......

It’s not a rule forever followed,
But as a rule,
I don’t write novels.
Tales told in fiction
Rely on reality for sustenance
and I don’t want to confuse you
with my world
that is always flipping,
whirling,
re-painting,
re-modeling,
and put simply,
always changing.
When life seems to lack continuity...

I am finding it harder and harder to tell
If in the story of your life
I'm just a chapter
Or the binding to the book.

And I'm hoping more every day
That I can find a way
To make it onto the next page
And make you a part of my story too.
I don't think he can even begin to comprehend how much I love that idiot.

In the quiet space,
Between chapter three and four.
For now, there’s magic
Between these lines.
A point that is
Often ignored.

Closing my eyes
in a fleeting moment

One of those times when you seem to be awake and unconscious all at once

all of a sudden I turned into a small blue bird
Who fluttered up high
Wanting to see everything below

And I watched myself walking

Noticing some small things

He looked like someone out of a book I've read
Something about the look on his face
As if this was the beginning chapter and a long journey lay after

On that hopeful thought
I flew back down to my head
And opened my eyes

It began as most things do,
with the softest of breaths

next came the leap, of faith
of risk, of character, forward

then arrived the water, harsh
the icy rush of consequence

and at the end of the chapter
there was absolutely nothing

but little traces in the wake.
Hello! It's been a while. I swear I'll post a little more now that I'm all settled at school and in my new place. This will be the first poem in my second book.
