Chalsey Wilder Feb 2015
Standing at the cross road I sang his name
The one people always mentioned when they found out something shocking
God was never here
This place is a barren grave for the forsaken
No flowers were ever placed here
No plant ever grew here
God was never here, but this barren land still has some beauty
God was never here
And it was never ashame

My body is like the winter
Not cold, but barren
My heart is like a snow storm
Not only freezing, but icy chaos
My soul is like the winter
*Something you'll wish you never went through
The Jarl Nov 2014
A barren wasteland
Of fear, doubt, and regret
Uncertainty plagues the sand
A horrendous fate, that we have met.
society became its own destroyer
The catalyst of this hopeless future
There's time to change
But were consuming ourselves
All of us

I search for wood in the darkest hour
In the coldest forest amid the trees
Facing the wicked winds with valour
At a toppled tree, I bend down on my knees
Collect the lumber dry and frozen
I rise and begin my journey back
Wherewith the fuel now chosen
A simple light is all I lack

Carefree my life
Hides emptiness
Internal strife
Longs to profess
Denied by fate
Love incarnate
Expecting now?
Son or daughter
Someday maybe?
First attempt, is this even poetry?
K Balachandran May 2014
A sad whimpering wind,
came travelling great distances
bringing her wistful sighs
and solitary pain of her heart,
broken in to many pieces,
but somehow still held together;
repeatedly bangs at his closed
window panes and wait for a response
then desperately sobs aloud,
on finding it wouldn't open
even after such desperate
expression of anguish
on behalf of a love once was
a bloom of rare red hibiscus
it's color  would never fade, it seemed.

But who would understand
his sad predicament, still unnamed!
hiding in a dark corner,
not to let the messenger
know his pathetic condition,
flames leap up from his heart
lighted by his lost love,
none could ever put it out.

They parted ways to never
again come back
both know there is no life
for each without the other,
still couldn't avoid this fall
breaking a golden dream,
and lots of promises of beauty;
their budding garden went barren
for ever, why why they don't see?

Old
I grew old today.
In mind, out of body.
The shafts of light that we're once danced in
As gentle summer breezes
Kissed the cheeks of innocence
Have been replaced by the
Barren winter of an apathetic heart.
In the cold solace of my December
I will be reborn
Hard and unpenetrable .

Roiling earth
Black dirt and broken roots
Rise
Fingers pointed to the skies

Shiver decay
Mote breath, mottled stretch
Come a marching
Through the static haze

Flesh and ache and waste
Wake after wake
Flesh and ache and pain
Day after day
Carrion stay
Carrion remain

They will walk the earth
And nothing will be

First the spires will fall
To the blackout seas
Then the houses will board
Starved to plaster bones
Next the chatter will die
From the pallid air
Then the blisters will burst
From the crust of the world

They will walk the earth
And nothing will be
They will walk the earth
And nothing will be for worse

The dead will rise from their sleep and be ruled by lust, greed and gluttony. They will cause mass extinctions, they will cause millions to perish. They will be without understanding, they will be vacant automatons; feasting and feasting and feasting--flesh and ache and waste. They will destroy themselves in their haste, over and over again.

Wait did I say the dead? I meant humans, woops.

She refused to bless me,

did she not?

Cobblestone cold. Cyan-gray & dim. Washed-up pink.

My soul could not be purified by these shades.
l'hiver is French for "The Winter".
