It's better late than never
to tell me how you feel
though it seemed that forever
our love to last was real.

To remember all those times
when we were together
is to hide our loveless crimes
Pure Love had to sever.

On the spur of that moment
which now has come to pass
by love's ill-fated foment
causing such an impasse.

If we both had the courage
to look into our heart
so as not to encourage
each other to depart.

But love cannot be denied
what its seeking to find
a union which was espied
before it became blind.

From within its depth rises
that feeling to express
devoid of compromises
with True Love none the less.

Could there ever really be
a love that's so sublime -
beyond what most people see
which comes from the Divine?

In the flash of an instant
when someone least expects
Grace bestows Love to supplant
what less love it detects.

The caged bird sings because
it longs for freedom
to fly and be with its own kind
and to know what life is really about
and be able to share it with a soul mate.

That's why the caged bird sings -
a song of hope and for all we know
a mournful yet beautiful sad song
of longing for the life
it was created for and dreams of having
instead of being cooped up in a cage
playing a role that was
never intended by nature
for it to have and live
as a captive showpiece
for a higher evolved form......
the ultimate expression of cruelty
- to deprive another creature
of its natural born freedom.....

That's why the caged bird really sings!

It is just as much a case of mistaken identity
to regard one’s self with too much indemnity.

It seems a mistaken notion when we hear it said that 'all men are born equal'
and is due to the fact that as a baby we are all helpless, dependent and small.
But as we grow up and get older the sense of equality doesn't mean much at all
as there are many factors at play which are not so evident and hard to forestall.

Seasons come and go
in four stages of the year
one knows by the signs
----------------
It's getting colder
and the weather is changing
Winter is so near
-----------------
It is cold here now
with all the wind, rain and hail
the blues of Winter
----------------
Spring has come one sees
with all the buds and blossoms
colours and fragrance
---------------
Summer is now here
with the weather much warmer
sun, flowers and fruit
--------------
Where leaves are falling
below many of the trees
those shades of Autumn

A while ago I came across an adversary
and it seemed he wasn't doing very well;
he was full of doubt and much negativity
lacking the inspiration to get out of hell.

The best he could do was to cast doubt
'n fear around like a sharp edged sword
plagiarise from some books lines about
what had been written there as a record.

He was very good at doing what he did
it seemed, by all of the noise he made,
that at times under a false humility hid
the demon within of which God forbade.

He also managed to overwhelm a few
and gather around him those who were
much like himself unable to see through
the darkness within of their mind's blur.

He seemed to know every trick in the book
and would hide many of them up his sleeve
to cajole other people into his fold by hook
extending them a helping hand to deceive.

Whenever someone new would come along
there he'd be with a forked tongue to brag
of doubtful words about their heart's song
in such a way just to impress and to snag.

He didn't like it at all when others around
ignored or didn't respond to what he said
going all out by trying them to confound
with doubt and fear cast at them in dread.

If someone got annoyed and reacted in a way
that was against the local rules, he reported;
by knowing that he had the upper hand to say,
to those in charge, a victim is to be deported.

This would happen only once in a while when
they were caught unaware of the game played
not knowing the local rules to advantage then
except by him who all such conceit displayed.

If you happen to be one of the lucky ones and
get yourself kicked out of the place for a while
don't be too ******* yourself and to understand
that what you've learned there was by his guile.

As far as I know he's still into his doubt 'n fear
and gets away with it at a God forsaken place
where if by fate you stumble across or be near
please have courage and do not ever lose face.

I can see the sun but can it see me?
and so wonder if this could ever be.
It shines down on me from there up high
and I feel its warmth on my body nigh.

I regard it now as a lifelong friend
who will always be there until the end.
If many clouds obstruct its light from me
there's a minor change of mood that I see.

I also look down where my shadow's cast
before me when my back to it goes past.
This need not be of any real concern
for I have got to move around and turn.

I cannot look up at it for too long
because its light to my eyes is so strong.
All creatures depend on its light to live
and that's what its purpose is all to give.

I bear the scorch of its cruel heat at times
by living within the world's changing climes.
But, saying this, I'm not the only one,
who complains in a verse about the sun.

I enjoy its presence most of the day
and in its light I often work and play.
In the night it shines there via the moon
to remind me that it will be back soon.

I can look up at the moon in the night
and thank it for not being very bright.
It has a calming effect on the mind
and acts like it's of an opposite kind.

I then especially like the full moon
as it breaks through the clouds to make me swoon.
Revelling there under that midnight sun
with all the stars shining beyond this one.
