Rest in this, my bruised and weary soul: I was a wretch, chosen to be a beauty; a slave, chosen to be a bride; an orphan, chosen to be an heir; an enemy, chosen to be a friend. I deserved nothing but wrath and death yet received everything of life and grace. I am loved beyond any dreaming of it and blessed above all worldly wealth. I have the incomparable birthright of those whose Father is God and whose Lord is Jesus Christ— righteousness from Him and peace with Him. I am a cherished gift from the Father to the Son. I was paid for by the Son’s own blood and am "engraved on the palms of His hands." I am the living temple of God’s Holy Spirit Who empowers me to do His pleasure and bring Him glory. I am the LORD's, chosen and set apart for His delight. ***What more could I ask? But that's only the beginning...*** I will live as blessed as I believe myself to already be, for "I have been blessed in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ," "given everything I need for life and godliness" through knowing Him and His precious promises, "an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade— kept [securely and eternally] in heaven" for me. I've been "raised up and seated with Christ"; my "life is hidden with Him" in the Father, and "He will fill me with joy in His presence, with eternal pleasures at His right hand." Oh, that "the eyes of my heart would be enlightened with the spirit of wisdom and revelation" to see what’s already been prepared and given to me and to know much more fully the One Who has so meticulously prepared and lavishly given it. As I walk intimately with Him and rest confidently in Him (based only on His merits, never my own), I am given free access to my account in His heavenly storehouse and enabled to appropriate its glorious riches to every circumstance of my life, even the most searingly painful and confoundingly difficult ones. I have a spiritual Fort Knox available to me through knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, but He Himself is my greatest treasure. Without Him, nothing else matters. Nothing else has meaning if I am not found in Him, clinging to Him and carried by Him. When I finally become desperate for Him alone, I begin to understand the profound reality of all He desires for me and offers to me in my spiritual inheritance in Him. There are infinite presents to be unwrapped in His presence which cannot be told in human words or comprehended by mortal minds, but they wait to be taken hold of by any and all who would take hold of Him. ***For He gives and gives and gives and gives, and even when He takes, He gives.***#

An Open Letter to my Best Friend You, dear are the strongest person I know, And trust me when I say, I know a lot of people. You stand, rooted as deep as an oak tree in my heart Your eyes find their way into my dreams, burning with passion and fired belief. Your sorrow matches the winds of the sea Constantly badgering you With the threat of drowning, I'm so scared you'll take yourself from me. Your voice is something, I can only be thankful for Coming to me in times of need It has all the power to make my heart soar, suturing the bleed. Your dreams, You've been told, Are far fetched at best And unachievable at most. What people don't understand Is unicorns are shy creatures Who just don't have the heart To prove they exist. Even though they run free, Jump high And take great pride (Their horns are always meticulously shined.) I think back on the times You taught me to be strong Without even knowing You were consistently adding words To my life's song. The melody just a little sweeter While it plays in my head Added like you do with sugar to your coffee before bed. Sparingly, But needed. Oh so very needed. You, my darling, have your roots dug deep Your dreams being dreamed Your life, I do believe Is worth so much more than an amount that any bank could offer, Is worth more than the english language can explore, And all I need you need to remember, The alphabet is composed of 26 letters, Voldemort wasn't always in power, take each insult And pull a Tom Marvolo Riddle out of the sorting hat. Believe that the positive outweighs the negative, And yes that means your scale is wrong. Tumblr's idea of pretty girls, Doesn't take place in my song. So this is an open letter, To my very best friend. Darling, please know You can always depend and lean and cry on and hate and call and love and trust me.

Lend me your eyes. So I could fill them with the bursting stars. Telling tales of the spellbinding universe, singing songs of exploding suns... and of splintering quasars. Lend me your thoughts. So that if I may, write of them. Fantastical scribbles of love and praise. Meticulously lined and carefully stitched... with immaculate lace at the hems. Lend me your breaths. I'd catch them as they fall... between the words you would say. Merging mine with yours... introducing colour... and vigour to my monochromatic world of black, white and grey. Lend me your heartbeats... for mine thumps erratic. As if beating in silent mock. I depend on the steadiness in yours. So they could usurp the ticks of worldly clocks. Lend me your hands. Palms up as a sign, perhaps as an invitation... for me to take them. And maybe... hopefully fill them... with mine...

Lend Me...
Through sweat-filled labor and unrelenting love, my patient parents meticulously molded strong shoes to fit, making each effort efficient and all materials durable so that if I were to walk the path full of broken glass, my skin would not tear, my spirit not diminish, and through their sacrifices, prevent my blood from staining the street.

"A Parent's Shoes"
these thoughts... they are my own, walled within the deepest recesses of my cerebral labyrinth. sprouting out of vine covered walls, are multicoloured blooms brandishing thorned stems and thirsty stigmas, dripping with absinthe. mind full of poison in permissible amounts... i am caught in a web of restless stupor, anguish... and regression... these thoughts... rationed out sparingly, for they're not for unready ears blooms of thought meticulously triaged before necessary expulsion. hairline cracks between insanity and peace... i tread precariously the fine, meandering line. still clutching my flowers in a tight obstinate grasp... not letting go for these tainted blossoms are undoubtedly mine.

Absinthe Minded
An artist, Bleeding his heart into the canvas Carefully planning his masterpiece Dutifully paying attention to every detail. Emotionally drained, Forced to finish his work Grueling over an uninviting crowd Helpless to the impending backlash Inspired, the artist continues Just to prove his critics wrong Knowing that his work will be amazing Loving himself even more Meticulously painting his beautiful image Never letting stamina get to him Opening his mind to a grand illusion Presented to him by an transcendent figure Questioning if what he saw was true Reveling in the moment of it all Slowly, the artist comes to a finish Trapping the moment inside of his easel Unveiling to the crowd was his final test Vociferously, he explained his masterpiece When all of a sudden, the artist begins to run Xenophobia had stricken him You now know why most artists are obscure. Zealous fans always ruin everything.

An artist (The ABC Poem)
It’s the morning after the last heart session Eyes open but brain still crackling with static and white noise When I try it again Hoping to get pen to paper Before consciousness can recover sufficiently to intervene And proffer pretty syntax to the poem Hold the mind blank And stack the words in rows of green growth Like garden beds That only need time and attention to bear fruit Let truth come from some other place Than reason or left brain Or the extensive vocabulary Meticulously indexed in the cranial cavity Somewhere near the brain stem Or maybe in the DNA As C, T, G, and A Storing data like binary only twice as complex The recall mechanism operating in the darkness of our comprehension Apprehension of its failure threatening to leave the poem unfinished Unillustrated Uncalibrated Un-fact checked Like that matters somehow Like the facts are important in art Like the right brain has no sense of propriety Just as surely as the heart tells lies in gibberish A chattering maelstrom of syllables in a cyclonic vacuum And yet somehow the heart speaks with perfect clarity Uncluttered rhythm Timing and flow So you know there is more going on here than we fully understand Lend a hand to help decipher the intentions of a part of yourself wayward from the rest of you Leading to a collapse of the ego And a blurring of the lines between you and I Turning discrete data into continuous On the fly On the run Under sun and and moon and sky Until the day that even death fails to be discrete Or even an event any more important than a fire Converting energy from one form to another

With the onset of the sun in the horizon, the little creatures awake And dance and sing melodies tantamount to a group of chortling people Oh, how i wish such convival sights be captured And played back on repeat everytime you feel low As vagabonds they fly in search of food and shelter And when the sun does set, off they disappear in their nests Robbing the nature of its beauty For every day they have to give a survival test(from their carnivore counterparts) The broke pigeon was no different, her eyes gleamed better than Cindrella's did The vicissitudes of life had rendered it to be a mendicant. But she was a resilient creature and she continued her fight everyday Her condition started to exacerbate when she laid 4 snow like eggs Gathering twig by twig and working for an entire afternoon meticulously She made a perfect home for her babies which were about to hatch Be it a human or a bird, mothers always foster the children Off she slipped into a reverie of a bright future with her kids But the evil nature had its own sinister plans Her thoughts were interrupted by a cacophony of sounds of other birds She knew the sound was ominous Peeping out of the nest she saw a dozen eagles encircling the tree Her blood ran cold, she wrapped the eggs around her and a teardrop made its way from her eye The leader of the eagles stoop towards her and hit her with a beak The broke pigeon pleaded for its life saying-"I will offer myself to you as soon as my kids learn to fly" The Machiavillian eagle agreed at first, flew up high, leaving the broke pigeon to heave a sigh of relief The sigh was a short lived one as it swoop down with two other eagles on the broke pigeon Performing an act of utter perfidy, there was a sly smile on its face Turn by turn they devoured the broke pigeon And kicked the eggs down the nest It was a brutal ****** much more heinous than the ones we see But there was none to witness the fate of the broke pigeon And even if there were, they'd never know the events that transpired Never know.. never know.. never know..

5? 6? 7? (can’t be certain when exactly) 14. 17. 18. He told me that it was okay. Some will flinch at the touch. Some will go into a daze. Some - I - will crave the touch of strangers, and many at that, to replace those days. He told me that I was special. I became careless and reckless with love on accommodation sheets. While I mistaken their meticulously placed words for love that I thought was finally peace. He told me that it wouldn’t hurt. It’s 2:52am and my timeline is flooded with girls and trials and underwears passed around in court as if it mattered for the verdict. The bags around my eyes are flooded with tears of anger and hatred as if to beg for some kind of justice. They told me that I should be flattered. But the thing is we haven’t been okay since. It did hurt but we still needed ******* evidence. We were already special before they took away our innocence. And now all we can do is get angry and hurt and wince at the stories like ours that social media has evinced. We hope to god our daughters will never have a jury to convince.

For her.
I am lazy like A slow clock, The hours dripping away off me, And only occasionally paying attention While I dream away all of the past and pressing minutes Into something resembling my own form of happiness, A small slice of heaven meticulously created Over the years, and only when my headphones are pulled from my ears. I have all the time in the world. I don’t have anything at all to say. To anyone. Until I am Perfectly distracted, and you Kick me in the leg and tell me to stop wasting time.

(laziness)
Your eyes are time capsules in my mind. The memory of you there, fingers lingering through my hair. Begging me to lock my lips with yours. I posed from a distance, sipping on my infidelity. How it made its way lasciviously across your body so meticulously, intentionally imploring you to want me. You asked, but I didn't know what to say so I just kissed you. I still see you sometimes in the peripherals of my mind, though the contours of your face are beginning to blur as they do with any beautiful stranger. I can't tell whether the image of us is a painting or a picture: something I've carefully constructed or a moment merely manifested. But I do know that it was the blue in your eyes and the white in my lie that had me stay til dawn.

When A Man Loves A Woman, He Will. Let us end this weekend by talking about the love between a man and a woman. To the ladies who often ask, “How do I truly know a man loves me?” this is for you. When a man loves a woman, he will never cheat on her. Never! He will find other women that throw themselves at him repulsive, however beautiful, they might be. That does not mean he has to profess a zillion times in a day how much he loves you. A man who does that is often a player. Talk is cheap. To a man who loves, actions speak louder than thunder, even in his subtlety! If you are an intuitive woman, you will know how much you are loved without even hearing the “three magical words.” There will be love in the way he looks in those lovely eyes of yours, in the way he holds your hands, in the tenderness of his text messages, in the attention he gives you, and in the care he takes in choosing the gifts he give you, and in the way he speaks to you. It is widely acknowledged that men love *** If a man says he does not love *** he is a shameless liar or a capon. God, we love *** Yet, paradoxically, when a man truly loves a woman, *** with her is the last thing on his mind. His interest in her is holistic, not just the apple she has to offer. He wants you for the rest of his life, and his single preoccupation from the moment he meets you, will be to put a ring on your finger so you can carry his name as Mrs…(Insert your man’s name) as a badge of honour. A man who truly loves you knows you meticulously. He knows what puts a smile on those rosy lips of yours. He knows what to say and what to do both in the good and bad times. He knows your kind of music or your kind of book. If you are a chocolate lady, he knows your kind of chocolate, if you are the romantic type he knows when to take you for moonlight strolls. Basically he will love you like you have never been loved before. In all, a man who loves you will do anything. I mean ANYTHING for the woman he loves.

They brought me a quilled, yellow dahlia, Opulent, flaunting. Round gold Flung out of a pale green stalk. Round, ripe gold Of maturity, Meticulously frilled and flaming, A fire-ball of proclamation: Fecundity decked in staring yellow For all the world to see. They brought a quilled, yellow dahlia, To me who am barren Shall I send it to you, You who have taken with you All I once possessed?

Autumn
Everywhere, on the sidewalks, in the gutters, right outside my door. Flourishing in the streets of Tegucigalpa, like leftover confetti from Mardi Gras. Lining the paths, nestled in the gravel, the broken concrete, and overgrown weeds. Coloring the landscape with orange and green. Proliferating around garbage cans, discarded bottles, tires, and take out boxes, liberated to the acrid landscape around.    Men, cutting back the peels, devouring the tropical flesh, delectable, united to pits. Dark skin and eyes, their accents singing, so different from my own. I stepped carefully, but always underneath, a sweet stickness, clinging to my soles. A bond to the red dirt, platanos fritos, and cattle roaming the street. When I returned to the wide boulevards, pristine and meticulously clean, I stopped watching my feet, looking for mango peels underneath.

Mango peels
In department store foyers, free samples sprayed, A collision of cosmetics muddle the air. The olfactory overpowered by such obvious odours, Why do natural notes disconcert you? Not the gym heavy sodden or overworked, Recognition of an individual, whilst eyes remain shut. Faint trace of the familiar or frenzied pheromones, A headiness misplaced by the cologne wearing clones Preference for the perfumed, the artificial sweetener. Marketed meticulously Musk manufactured yet not made by man Of flowers dear, of oils and compounds. Fresh, fruity, citrus or spiced Artificial aromas keep your own scent disguised Society simulates this sophistication of the senses, Masking yourself from me as you are wooed, Accustomed to this attraction, till you let down your defences How shall I know you when you are ****

“Would you like to try our new fragrance?!”
After weeks spent parading around, letting everybody and their mother know the day is near, we are finally here. It’s the night of your 21st birthday. 3 shots, 2 beers, and a joint or four later, and I’m feeling pretty alright. Your mother brings out your baby book, the entirety of your childhood life simplified into pictures and momentous small enough not to cause the pages to crease, meticulously placed between two hard covers. She flips through the album, licking her fingertips between every other page and reading aloud the entries with the most significance to her. Suddenly she stops and points to a date. January 19, 1997. The first time you smiled. I look over at you and you smile back at me. A smile so radiant, there’s no need to explain the significance.

I love the warm smell more than baked bread. I love the old stories flooding back through my head. I love the middle-age chatter, with child like mutters, finding old favorites in old familiar covers. I love the personalised fountain-penned message, carefully scribed and meticulously dated. I don't care about the number of dog eared pages, or the tell-tale signs of well worn aging. Tea stains and small tears - they don't bother me, each tell a new tale beyond what I can see. I love the weight of the years sitting in my hand, I love the tether to past lives multi-second-hand. With memories of libraries with warm worn carpets, wall to wall adventures and sun faded artists, battered yellow seats, shooshed conversations, quietly spoken protests at the books being rationed. I stayed past closing, riding trains of free thought with Tin Tin, Asterix and old Mrs Pepperpot. I'm still drawn to the pages and the feeling inside second-hand stories where memories reside.

You my friend love to run more than anyone I know You run so fast your body has to catch up and when it can't it slows you down pulling a hamstring Then the other And then your left one again You had bruises for months trailing up and down your legs-your battle wounds Weeks upon weeks of stretching Icing massaging caring bracing eating Trying so hard to sooth the pain So bad it hurt to sit Slowly but surely your legs came back A tedious process of long nights and good mornings One day you were new again In the sweltering heat you taught your legs what it felt like to run And they loved it The months flew by chasing you down You were unstoppable getting first and second a states in the winter Things were looking up and you started to get anxious about college who would choose you? But in the end, you chose them You are an official member of OSU Proud to be a buckeye Outdoor season started and you are oh so careful Spending an hour every day before practice to warm up slowly to not repeat last year's trial Hours spent after practice to ice and stretch hoping that this horrendous day would ever come again Today I watched you I was sprinting on the field while you were meticulously counting and calculating your speed and steps by doing drills Our brothers strides by-racing each other in the 600 You strode along their side-beating them all when you started to limp Your eyes turned glossy Your face crumpled in despair I to you asking if you were ok You looked at me like a deer in headlights To scared to tell me-hoping that the devil couldn't possibly come back to haunt you Your eyes told me everything Two pops and a pull Bad Very bad But it's your right leg- your good leg Impossible The emotions hit you like you were on a bumpy roller coaster Frustration Angst Anger Sadness Frustration Anger What did you do wrong? What variables didn't add up? Why you? Why? I wanted so badly to comfort you To hug you But it would put you in so much pain Who knew that a hug could do so much harm? I helped you to the trainer Every step was another test and another reminder Why can something you love so much it hurts you? Why should someone so good feel the pain of a pulled muscle? Why?

2 cups of insecurity 4 ounces of comparison 1 cup of dinner not eaten. 5 cups of a mind in shackles 6 tablespoons of incomprehension 2 ounces of oblivious peers 3 cups of dinner not eaten. 3 teaspoons of phantom numbers 2 cups of anxiety 4 cups of mirrors smashed to bits 1 pint of self-hatred 4 cups of dinner not eaten. 1 tablespoon of depression 6 ounces of anger 2 pints of hopelessness 3 cups of self-inflicted scars 4 teaspoons of ribs in the mirror 5 cups of fainting on the stairs 1 gallon of dinner not eaten. 6 cups of grieving families 4 tablespoons of words unspoken 3 teaspoons of tears unshed. 2 cups of dusty belongings 4 gallons of friends never made 3 teaspoons of kisses never stolen a lifetime of words left unsaid. Melt insecurity and comparison and mix thoroughly with dinner not eaten. Mix a mind in shackles, incomprehension, and oblivious peers and add three more cups of dinner not eaten. Crush phantom numbers and anxiety and sprinkle over batter. Take each piece of mirrors smashed to bits and poke them carefully through self-hatred. Mix with four more cups of dinner not eaten. Melt depression, anger, and hopelessness and spread them thoroughly throughout the batter. Meticulously place self-inflicted scars visibly on top of the mixture. Cover with ribs in the mirror and fainting on the stairs. Mix with one gallon of dinner not eaten. Haphazardly toss in grieving families, words unspoken, and tears unshed. Mix with dusty belongings, friends never made, and kisses never stolen. Gather a lifetime of words left unsaid in a separate container. Take it outside and bury it. Do not mark the grave site.

When mom was dying, she felt like everything she'd worked for was gone. She showed me Life as Its steward and Death as Life's reward. How to lean into the unknowable whether I want to or not. That our deeds, carved meticulously into the bedrock of Forever, are immortal. It becomes clearer that our work is not for us, but for It. This life is service; only what we give is truly ours.

On Virtue
The rope I'm gripping tightly have taut fibers twined around each other. I wove them that way, meticulously. One string after another, its form gathers, and I'm proud of my craft. I've used it to save myself and others, pulling and tying knots, anchoring. A tightrope to dance on over and over, Tugging, stretched, fighting, breaking, but my rope's getting slippery. I've used it so much it's hard to hold on. It's overused and now everything's going wrong. Only a matter of time before I can cut it without effort, just one scissor, and it's no more. I'll tie it back together but I can only try so hard. It's wearing down, going gone. It withers and soon I'll have none. Nothing to save me, or them if I start abusing it again.

Dear one, as desired, meticulously corrected the mistakes you made, one by one. In the process added my own, do I need to tell? I take refuge in the thought that it was expected when you chose me for this job. All I can say is this: we complement each other; but perfection is the mirage we relentlessly search in this desert.

Perfection
Dear future boyfriend.... I will assume you will break my heart even before we speak. And hold on to every word like it were the air that I breath. I will ignore the good things that you do. And search for every mistake meticulously. I promise to never have faith in you and to always expect you to fail. I promise to put you on a pedestal that you'll fall off of and to always go running to my friends the second you speak out agents me. And when I do something wrong and you say something about it, I promise to always find a way to blame it on you, Dear future boyfriend I promise to drain you emotionally so that you cant ever find the strength to leave me, And to always ,make you feel like you cant leave me alone. Dear future boyfriend, I promise that when it ends ill make Facebook posts about it so that all my friends can see, and so that they can all take part in a breakup that was largely to do with me ... Dear future boyfriend, pleas.....don't be my future boyfriend
