Rob Sandman Mar 2016
Woke up this morning I was tired as hell, decided I would sit in the garden and dwell,
On the last weekend of pubs and clubs, when my ears picked up this feeble buzz,
Now usually the buzzin’ is my bassbox boomin’ but my bassbox bins were still back in my room,
Looked at my feet and to my surprise was a big bumblebee who’d fallen from the skies,
He looked worn out, torn up up,but still a lil’ fighter, musta gotten separated from the rest of his flight yeah,
So I remembered a tale taught by my mum,how to get a tired bee back to buzzin and hummin,
Put some salt and some water in a little saucer, and watch him build up his strength like a sorcerer,
But I decided to add my own twist to the game,so the Manuka honey, out she came,
Put a little dose of each in the saucer on the ground,so I could help the lil’ fella start buzzin around.
Helped him over the lip of the saucer quick,he looked about done in til he gave it a sip,
Then like popeye with spinach he started to swell, comin’ hummin like  a trooper from the gates of hell,
From close to the end he was like Zip Zing!,floatin’ like a butterfly, ready to sting,
He took off and flew around all my ma’s fresh roses, full of beans, lookin mean striking Irish bee poses,
Then he landed on my hand but not to sting me up,
Took a little Bee bow then rose right up,
And I coulda swore I heard  a voice hummin out to me,

"Thanks man you really helped out this busy bee",

He floated like a butterfly off my hand ready to sting if needed on the flowers he lands,
Then I gave him a wave and went on my way, and started the bee- ginnings of my own busy day.
This is just to counterpoint all the nastiness and violence that Mr Sandman usually brings, and is a true story too(for a given value of true,as Sir Terry Pratchett would have said)

I change my shoes and attitude
Some say I hate surprises
Desiring things to stay the same
Anxiety arises

Change a job, a change in age
Change your view or change your tone
The Age of Aquarius turned the page
To change your tune-you’re not alone

Do I fight the change, ignite the change
The change I fear, so hard so cruel
You can win a war yet take the blame
When Yin and Yang begin to duel

Like loose change dropped in a jar
Changing partners, changing clothes
Change my house and buy that car
Bless the highs but curse the lows

Pain and Joy, so intertwined
A change of heart, a change of flight
Accepting wisdom, change my mind
A shift to the left, the change feels right

The change I see, or don’t see comin’
I move in a different direction
Confidently whistling and hummin’
Too late upon closer inspection

Change for the better or change can ****
Lead in the water has been unfurled
Change means growth-you cannot stand still
Change your position and change the world

Yut,
Well, I'd woke up early
**** rooster
just about  the crack of dawn
last crickets chirping loudly
heavy dew carpetin' the lawn
cold air, ya know
can see my breath that time of mornin'
as the tired furnace is  a kickin' in

Stretchin'

Emmmm hmmm, well dat'
woodstove she's a squirmin' with anticipation!
Yes sir,
smell of the incomin' weather
fresh cut and stacked Maple, except them box elder type you know gettin'
researched
Oak too, yut
some Birch ...burns real pretty

I hear them pumpkin patches callin'
eager to win those hearts
and the children
funny duffers in costumes

Ya, beckonin' a reckonin' they are
to become silky pies in their namesake
a big ol' mess left in that wake
from jack-o-lanterns,
& roasted an toasted
seeds of joy we use all win'ter 'round here

Kinda like the sound of them tires on the pavement ya know?
Warm hummin',
they're rustlin' down asphalt
with the leaves
visitors headed home again
will give way to the sloshin' of sleet, freezin' rain
whata' pain

Well here comes the ol' horses
and a wooden cart
to collect the trash
17 years
Percheron prizes them beauties
I really like that sound too
hoves clunkin' in perfect harmony

Yut, agreed,
love this place indeed
clip clopin' along with jinglin' bells soon
straight outta' Robert Frost he is

A symphony of smells
the ringin' of the church bells
time to eat
sighing

"Well...take a seat
Mornin' boys"

Oh Momma's up
Fill up her cup!

Oh thank you kindly
Well, we got some perfectly cooked hickr'y smoked local bacon
Scrambled eggs so beautiful and fluffy they look like clouds of clear yellow sunshine on that plate
those girls did well this year
Maple yogurt I insist on
with that crunchy homemade
sweet n' salty nut Granola
Don't forget some fresh fruit salad
stuff goin' on now
rest been reserved for winter days
Can't say that I'm not lookin' forward
to some wild blueberry pancakes
and that beautiful amber
Vermont maple syrup"

Yut,
was a lotta' work drainin' those sleepin' veins of golden sugar
emmmm
Is a great mornin'

"Good to savor the wonderful gifts the seasons bring, share and enjoy "

We certainly are grateful ma'am.

Take Your Hat Off What's The Hurry?
Just because...some people say "Yut" silencing the T here not everyone of course, I love old time Vermonter's they know everyone and everything!
Got a message from my half
Mrs. Hypochondriac
Moody right, moody right
Tell your CC
Let everyone know
Beatnik ****, beatnik ****
Listen to that beaten sound
Keeps me running, keeps the engines hummin'
Listen to that beating sound
Tic Tac Tic Tac
Got a lookout for King Me
Watch your Q's and watch your P's
Dot your eyes and cross your tease
You're gonna see what you still won't believe
Birth your rumors of immortality
Pound them 'til I can't help but agree
But when the truth slays the light
Don't blame me
King Me King Me King Me King Me
I'm the King, I'm the King, I'm the King, I'm the King
Keep your filthy black stained hands off of my crown
Take up your own bleeding cross and ride it to town
I'm the King
Too good for my own good and don't give a fu ck
Hatching plans to freak out the Man
Got a meanness in me that I don't understand
A lie for a dollar, a life for a dime
There's a well, a deep, deep well I fell
Into once
Where in the tumbling I found
The true hidden meaning of falling down
The treasure at the bottom wasn't worth the minute
It took to get there
King Mad, King Mad, King Mad, King Mad
These songs for a King
King You and King Me
King Kong's a Ding ****
Monkey Tales
Banana on a stick
Dipped in black chocolate
Rancid and arcane
Read in, read in
The main character wears a black tunic
His queen is the one with the brain
Better half, better half she tells him
It's best you stay quiet you'll give it away
You've done enough damage for one other day
What's done is done
Nothing but another bridge to burn
Another corner to turn
She says
You understand it less than I
And your understanding is void and dry
Quiet now, my loveless love
My misunderstood drug
My salt melted slug
Quiet now, before people believe
In the nonsense you write, the ******* they read
For the record...*I* am King Me. The ******* is MINE.
Ma Cherie Sep 2016
Sing me back home
to where I need to be
sing me a tune of my
memories
tell me a story
of saddened goodbyes
whisper
a melody of tears
that we've cried

belt out the words
with no holdin' back
I need reminders
to get me on track
takin' the old worn
railroad bed
hummin' along
with the ones in my head

Chorus-
Oh.. how I long to hear
that lonesome whistle blow
as a haunting old sounds will recall
remind me of how
it all faded away
as each passin' moment
remind me of gladness
sung just yesterday
where I left my heart....
behind

kindly paint me a picture
of each Broken Heart
torn down the middle
in a red Jagged line
color the shades
in a envious green
crooning blue ink
my heart
to remind

Oh... remind me...,

yesterday's dreams
and promises broken
open my ears to
the sounds of Goodbye
force me to listen
to people I'm hurtin'
watch every tear
as it drops when they cry

Chorus
Oh... how I long ...
to listen
as Sweet Singin' Tunes
will recall
lovely ol' footsteps
of children
dancin' in summer
down vacant Halls
remind me of how
it all faded a-way
of how I got here
with each passing day
hangin' on evr'y word
that you say
whisper
in words
with smilin'  faces
as my mind returns
as it's slowly
retracin'...

and I .....
remember.... when.

Lyrics...I think in folk/gospel style....again about Home with Love from Vermont
Isaac Golle Jan 2013
Who gave you the key to my heart?
I swear you've had it, from the start.

Three in the morning finally crawling into bed
Bits and pieces of our favorite love songs rolling through my head
Hummin' a tune cuz I know I'll see you soon
We've only been holding each other since sunset
You sang sweet lullabies with your eyes while I listened intently

Cuz when I see your face, I smile
When I look at you, I smile more
When we talk, my voice is beaming
When I hear you sing, my heart is soaring
And when I get a glimpse of your soul tucked behind your sparkling blue eyes I hold that stare so calmly but inside I'm jumping for joy!
And even when I can't see you
When all I have is the thought of you
Well I'll be ****** if all I let out is a grin

You go beyond butterflies and above pretty blue skies
But you don't even leave the ground cuz we're aimin' for a love so deep that even we can't find the bottom

and I wanna write you a love poem
But I can't find the words
I wanna sing you a love song
But I can't find my voice
I wanna give you a flower
But we trampled them all while we were dancin' in the moonlight

And baby, when all these feelings
All these butterflies, lullabies and gazing deep-ly into your eyes
All this happiness, all this ectasy
All this emotional high that makes me feel so free!

When all this is gone, I will love you still
Because love is a choice fueled by power of will
And we will not be condemned by chasing a thrill
So when the highs become lows and the lows become throes
Of tossing and turning
Of hearts burning from confusion, confliction, and diffusion
Of a feeling we thought to be eternal
I will be reminded that feelings are fickle, let the teardrops trickle
Keep walking forward until my heart decides to catch up
Place one hand in yours and one in God's and sing that same old song

Who gave you the key to my heart?
I swear you've had it, from the start.
See it performed here:

since I've got
into your lungs-
as a sudden
surprise!
this sweet
scent
lingers on. . .
late into the
non-twinklin'
humid night
hummin' 'bout
our primal outburst
of raw desires -
delightful and determined!
not carin' for the rest
of the world -
let it cease -
for god's sake -
away!
along stray cats
and narrow alleys
& unfurl
somwhere else!
for your hard
passion upon my soft
skin. . . sang most
beautifully &
the desire's
splendour. . .
this luscious
lunacy
wouldn't leave
me 'till dawn -
this sleepless
inevitable
luminous
love grip

I see you changed your tune
Fast as phazes of the moon

So true,
That you

Should-a seen it comin',
Should-a heard the hummin

Right through,
Bright blue...

Must-a been my voodoo
Cause I sure did do it to you.

Oh you,
You're through.

You're through.

Must-a been my voodoo
Cause I sure did do it to you.

Oh you,
You're through

I can cross the river
'Bout-a any time I feel.
Nothing's gonna be a break
A-slowing down my wheel.
I'm gonna take you out
Any time I want
And it won't cost a pretty dime
Because inside of you, I haunt.
I have a few brief pieces of verse to post this morning. I hope they get read.

don't look at me with the sad eye, you knew **** well I wore the badge of the bad guy.
I understand that I ,have made more than a couple mistakes.
basically nothin more then a man who devastates n breaks anyone he gets to close to.
believe me I never chose to, live like this but life is hit or miss
guess not everybody's dealing with **** like this.
I bet about now you regret that kiss.
Grew up in a home where chaos is all I've ever known.
came to the conclusion were better off alone
but its too late
I've already grown into a man made monster.who wants her to do nothing more then save the day
take it all away ,make it ok
but that's not the way ***** gonna play out.
I should just get a tattoo on my head that says stay out.
don't try n find whats on my mind like I'm some kind of puzzle that needs to b solved.  I've evolved into what I need to be
not so Easily, understood why i never did the things that i knew i should
God forbid anyone finds out about the things I did.
Stayin off the grid cuz I know I got it comin.
Gotta keep hummin the tunes, that still holds a bit happiness, of a boy. yet to destroy.
desperately holding on to that joy the sound carries on.
For that moment the troubles r non..existent..
resistant to believe anyone knows what I need
so that wrong number I'm gonna keep callin cuz it's the only way to keep the rats from gnawin
Third world livin' is the intention
While im.sittin' in Satan's detention

as the water started boilin
then he got down on one knee
as the creamer started spoilin
put a flower in 'er hair
as the timer started ringin
pulled a ring outta his pocket
as the kettle started singin
she prepared to give her answer
as the fridge was hummin loudly
wiped the sweat off her fourth finger
as the oven burned so proudly
but then he got back on his feet
as the tap water was runnin
said he had changed his mind
as the bread dough sat there roughenin
her heart broke in her chest
as her hand reached for the cleaver
his face was unimpressed
as he turned around to leave 'er
the tears fell down her cheeks
as her irises turned black
and she whispered to herself
as the knife flew in his back
"now you know how i feel"
as he gasped a final breath
then she swung back to her cookin
as he slipped into his death
her heartbreak made her crazy
as the blood spread 'cross the floor
and that's why no one's in the kitchen
with dinah anymore

the backroad to
Florence, the one along Elm
that cuts past the McDermott
trailer park--

from matt's house past
Cedar and the old liquor store
at 50mph the cicadas sound more
like a cry or a lingering scream
the crickets don't stop for passing trucks
creaking to the metronome of a swishing
cow tail

farmers switch off their brights, come around
corners slow, in striped beat up Chevys, rusty
toolboxes weakly sliding from side to side
like their owners in threadbare leather seats
the young kids trail close, bumper
to bumper on a two-lane road, just me and
some kid named after his grampa, poppy,
Clint, who needs to get home before
mama chews him out--

I remember back in the days
In the barrio
Wearing fresh braids
And high top fades
With the big ol shades
Emulate super fly movies
I was young hard head
Felt like nobody could move me
Until them slugs hit me
Had me dreaming about reality
***** real I'm seeing my own blood
Is this heaven or hell ?
I'm close to death clutching for breath
Uh bust it
Couple hours later in surgery
Docts don't know what to do with me
To many peeps I'm strung out
Ask one of my homies to keep the heat out
And a ak by my bed
Just in case them.come again and http://****.me dead
But one ***** can't forget named Craig
og real never faked the funk
Had pounds of skunks one hit and we all high
Felt like our souls was touching the sky my eyes
Blood shot red half dead daydreamin' schemin'
Lookin to make my next move
Exercise and strategize at the same time
Keep all eyes on one time
But Craig had a lot of adversaries
His day was coming and before I started dumpin them techs was hummin'
Too late heart break souls break out
Am I lucky. To survive? Or do I really deserve to die? Uh
I wish I could see him again instant replay
Of the ****** stuck in my brain full of pain
No gain
From a lost one only death tallying the next one
As I reminiscence smokin' my dogia
Givin' a real shout out to my real nigguha
Who's strugglin'
Ballad for a dead souljah
Twas me fadder
he sat nigh me
Hummin a low tune
To mah wee mind
its sounded ov scorn
As well as fog cross de Moore
Twere de first time I cam to it
Dat grim Epiphany
that thar was nothing but hate for me
In the heart of me fadder
Yea everybody that doubted us
I let the guns bust
I'm talking magnums to artillery cannons who's handin'?
Me the pressure I'll stretcher
Longer than a limousine heads I guillotine
Once they show they face miss the prison place beat the case
Cuz of all the franklins faces
Seen many tastes
Of life luxurious my foes furious
Got critics nervous cuz they know I be serious
Slap a rhyme til ya  delirious
Dangerous trust
Get away clean so **** the must
We stackin cream shatterin dreams
Lock the game like a snake bite
Grab it tight became a hustler overnight
While y'all overwrite with ya overbite
I keep it comin' machine guns lyrics
Like techs is hummin' stunnin'
Opponents til they see trinity visions
Easy decisions you against me
Lets be realistic
I'll make you a early news statistic
Hop off the biscuit
Unless you a chick cuz my ****
Only fits in a ****
All these haters rappin' ain't ****
I'll put em down like Jordan did the Knicks set the pick
My team we never fail and if we see jail will see bail
Countless enemies to sail ya going frail
My pockets never stale only swells
Shot guns shells
Crackin' brains once I set my aim
Verbal assassin so who's passin'?
Me up this is a hold up
Rap game I fold up grab a coca cola and a smile problem child
Since I got stuck in wild
Tears from my mothers when. I was in the womb soon
To come out a punish those whom
Had a problem with the way flip
My words aint script it's encrypt
Knowledge is power devour reign like a shower til the vary hour
My last breath death before dishonor feelin' like Conner
Terminators after me why cuz it's seems like they wanna Punish Me

Flip through tracks like an acrobat

We all about street stats cheat more than the Pats
Fools say they dogs but scream

Statue bless you guess whos?
Back again with the blacked Out benz with back tinted lens
We undercover lyrical smugglers
Heavy weight slugger I go for the juglar
Vein til every ounce of blood is drained simple and plain
Go against the grain
I got gangsters who pack the macks so don't turn ya back
Unless ya wanna get burned and turned
Over to the undertaker meet to maker
Word to the Anita Baker
Givin' the best flows I got
Like who shot?
Ya not Chris Wallace but chickas call me big poppa break em off proper
Shoot an 8ball in the bathroom stall
**** I'm fallin' like Denzel
Seen visions of hell as my brain sails
Into another dimension
Tainted reality living life bad as can be
Chainsawin' lyrics causin' massacres
In Texas don't none wanna plex with us
I'm from the 3rd ward born hard
Sniff out fraud
Fools snitchin' for a few grand large take another charge
Of the cannibus plantin' a fist
To adversary who tried to dissed
Dismissed know ya gettin' a kiss
Mothers bending over ya casket
No tears in the end come again
I seen colors blowing with the wind
I'm talkin blood and sin gin
Sippin' No slippin' rippin'
Styles with my vo-cals hit on the dial
If you suspect foul
Play makes for doomsday with the AK pray that I don't find you in a alley
Roamin' alone the dark zone
Death is a ransom
Why all this drama on me

That day is just not today.
Cocktails, deceptive seduction
High heels, feels so good to be
Exactly who I want to be.
But yet I still find myself in moments
Towering over you, like Rapunzel with her golden locks
We smile and are smitten with each others existence
But I jump on trampolines, discuss the deepest and most intricate things
I let men teach me a thing or two
And with strong eyes stand my ground
Another man released himself on me tonight.

Spanish talk, each bill probably about $40
Rain drops, my hair got so soaked
Shirtless, lights in actors faces
My apartment, didn't recognize it
But hit that ****, the boys and me
They wanna think I'm just another silly woman
But they see and they feel, all of them
That I've got some powerful witty fire
In my lungs
And in my eyes.

Be gone, real soon
Bama will hummin' and whistlin' a tune
Mama says she prays for me
She's sure as hell hopin' I'll make it
And that "The One" will soon appear
And sure, Mama, who doesn't want those things
But soon enough.

But balcony moments, city so city lookin'
I feel so--
Serving food to the wealthiest
I hope my heart doesn't ache from what I can't change
For once tomorrow, often a thing I have experienced
Breathing in work environments, day job
Makes you think of love and love lost
Jealousy, is a funny thing
And I know, you, you
We both must experience it.

You owe me a poem
But you claim you don't write much these days
Our bodies, Yin & Yang
Lying on the bed, fearful to touch too much
But you look at me
As if there were a wedding veil on my head
All along.

But theres not
And certainly not for you
And you dance your hardest, looking, hoping
Just STOP.
I throw my dress back on
He bought me an uber
With a flick of my hair, one final moment
I walk on into the night
To feed my own inner cocoon
Because it ain't about nobody right now
Think. Listen.
Take it in. Take me in.
I know you must resist thoughts of me in your mind
Tonight
As I do you, after fleeing my **** scene

How far I've come and got to go.
What a beautiful thing.

need a little me time, on green on tee time
on e with an e light, but the neon gonna be fine
at least goin to B right?  if not single speed bike
on High in the street lights
cars passin me breeze by, no rush for the green light
leaned back on this seat o mine
breathe in the season, summertime
lilac, the leaves back, tree sap
knee slacks, T-Shirt, nikes, what a time?
reading back cluttered lines, hummin rhymes
to myself and those who wander by
keep them in your spongy mind if you want some lines
they're shelved kept up in my attic otherwise

it's not easy livin dreams, just dreamin them
Constantly the reason I'm sleepin in.
should consider leaving open my shuttered blinds
so as to not wake around three pm.
but just the thought of that shuddered mind
brought distractions, wore off Elysium.
guess tonight I did fine, should go easy then
all work no plays no good for a youngins mind.
Everybody come on,
Get a gather in,
As we still tackle the sins,
Of every day living,
Avoid Robyn Givens,
Tryna get moneys from
Me to give in,
Dismissed my old religion,
Watch for pigeons,
Peep death walking around
Corners,
Cuz the next day they'll
Mourn ya,
Then forget about ya,
But back to life,
Daily Struggles and hustle in the same
Sentence,
Born intelligence, my father became,
Negligence,
Moms had them dollars spent,
Couldn't see where the money
Was bent,
Too much dreaming, folks mostly individuals, far from teamin'
Plot the scheming,
Like Kenan,
Ivory Wayans, all across ya brain,
I come with the thunder and rain,
Calm ya soul,
Relax as I take control,
Neo soul,
Only cherish the bold,
And beautiful, despise rap guys,
Who spit pitiful,
Kin to the Howlin' Wolf spiritual,
Tasted a spoonful,
Of my money, now I want nothing
To do with honeys,
Through the pleasures, sticky and sweet
Satisfaction to my meat,
Wait let's keep it clean
For the radio,
Can't banned this jam, played it,
Til I cops ya mental,
Grooves sentimental,
Lauryn Hill giving the thrills, over the
Track you feel,
Rest in peace to the massacred victims,
From past through,
The Future millenniums,
Millennial madness, depression raised
To the highness,
Meditate to Mary sparkling like
A disco,
Ball everyday dejavu back to dance hall,
I remember all,
My grand mothers to pappys, all celebrated
And happy,
Now most people are ******,
Can't get help for ****, only
If you down for the corporate,
Dead man walking with a company,
Watch them put you on a rate,
Slaves ain't went no where,
Taxes famine to warfare, stay focused
On truths and not dare,
As the snare,
Puts you in a mellow mood, I stay positive and away from the crude,
Attitudes, Sun Tzu official,
Still tryna stay from the airhead judicial,

Flashes of pictures,
Throwing up the peace signs,
Nothing but end times,
I'm on god lines,
Twelve disciples followed by me,
With armed rifles,
Spartan tactics, got critics
Doing back flips,
Stick to the script,
Word to the mothership,
I came off of,
It's love all else and nothing
Above,
Defense like the glove,
Come push and shove,
I'll die for my brothers, sisters
And others,
Who's down, couldn't wear the crown,
Too heavy it weighs,
Sunk down like maydays,
Back in the days,
I used to wanna be the brother
Who was paid,
Fantasy themes, got me caught
In the lustful things,
Everything ain't what it seems,
Lot of Willie Browns, looking for
Their soul, in the middle of a round,
Now where don't care,
Only at the crossroads if you dare,
Demoness with breast,
Beautiful hair, long stare,
Don't get caught, lookin' at the Medusa glare,
**** turned into stone,
Chills through my bones,
Vibin' off of the tones, voices made of Baritone,
Band played on,
Once I found right, it seems to follow wrong,
Blessed are the children,
Who see scares before, war is
Summoned,
Pitching different strokes, call me
Phil Drummin',
Hummin' my way through this slave
Essence,
My presence is shown,
Once I get on,
Beats for my vocals to meet,
Put so perfectly,
Enjoy the breeze and the weather,
No bragging hypes,
Just a poet, with the verbal snipe,

Inter change able duet, imaginary song on imaginary
waves of old AM

Rain and country women
Mmmm there musta been a plan

there
I swear what rain does to country women
Had to have been planned
by a God lovin' country mind

Mmmm yeah musta been a plan
there

Rain and country women
Rain and country women
Rain and country women
Mmmm yeah musta been a plan
there
I swear what rain does to country women
Had to have been planned
by a God lovin' country mind
Slow, deep old
Grandpa voice, early in the mornin' song,
as the coffee comes t' life in the kitchen,
drip-rythmic, life-goes-on song

this next ok hummin and strummin the bax ok
harmonic soft

This song could go on and on since
it has
you know

Grandpa listened, sittin' on the porch
to the rhythm of the falling rain recalling
the chorus and the break

And Gramma told
my pretty city born bride about
MMM Hmmm right, that rainy night...

there
I swear what rain does to country women
Had to have been planned
by a God lovin' country man.

Grandpa looked at grandma,
and she winked.
Long ago memories of open mics on Broadway, all those first sung songs sung to girls they left behind. Nashville Broadway, a bit darker than the Gotham one.
