I love my sister dearly
she lives with me at home
She helps me with the stress of life
so I don't have to on my own

She parts clouds
Makes the sky blue
Then to ease my pain more
adds a soft cloud or two

She's building a beautiful garden
filled with hollihocks, foxgloves and such
It has an outdoor bathroom
that I will enjoy very much

She helps keep me grounded
my feet firmly on the ground
Keeps the dark clouds away
While to my life I'm bound
While helping care for my husband, my sister has built the most beautiful sensory garden for my husband and I.
My sister's amazing and I love her dearly

9.30 pm
Nice warm shower
then into bed
On my pillow
I rest my head
Close my eyes
hope to sleep
distract my brain
count some sheep
Toss and turn
a hot sweat or two
lay here awake
think of you
Then my dreams
take me away
hope tonight this is where I stay
But now we're up at half 1
felt like sleep had just begun
Your all sorted
hope you dream
straight to sleep
it does seem
If I sleep instantly
it's a treat
a whole nights sleep
you just can't beat
Next thing I know we're up again
it's half 5 in the morning
Drag my **** out of bed
Can't help myself from yawning
Your sorted
Back in bed
Once again I rest my head
Alarms are ringing
in my ear
Up again with not much cheer
Fruit and meds
I give to you
Then shower you
clean and fresh
I'm half asleep and look a mess
But back to bed
you want to go
It's just us today
so our day can be slow
Our support worker
has cancelled today you see
so I get to climb back into bed
for a more sleep
Yippee
Missing normal nights sleep

I love you son
from the bottom of my heart
This I have done
from the very start
From the day you were born
you turned my world
upside down
A little ball of energy
always running round
Your lashes long
Your eyes so blue
Your hair golden ringlets
How could I not
love you
Sometimes you'd walk
round with a blanket
over your head
And I would read you stories
when I tucked you into bed
There were also
tantrums
and
naughtiness
that comes when you are young
And on some of these occasions
you got a smack on your
***
Then one day
we became a family of 5
Where we lived was wonderful
it made you feel alive
You kids could
swim
camp
even climb the old oak tree
Occasionally you'd fall
and get a scrape or two
on your knee
We'd spend hours walking
at The Roleypools
That's all our favourite place
It really was a wonderful sight
to see the smiles
on your face
We also did star gazing
through the binoculars
at the moon
You kids grew up so fast
the time past to soon
One day I came home
to find a young lady
sitting
on the lounge room chair
So shy and so quiet
you'd hardly know that she was there
Slowly she's opened up to us
and come out of her shell
Be coming part of our family
this she has done well
Our son at Araluen
proposed down on one knee
She graciously excepted
her face glowing with glee
Now they live in a place
of their own
walking distance from the sea
Happily just the two of them
and their pussycat

My son said "Where's my poem"
So here you go son. Love you.

Forgotten memories
passion and lust
Shattered shards of broken hearts
crumble to dust
Dust drifts gently through the
ghosts of yesterdays
atmosphere

Caressing stars
along the way so
bright and clear

You came a calling
my gallant knight
Stars twinkling
The moon bright
On your sleek black stallion
you came to my door
My heart pounding
as you crossed the
floor
Sweeping me into your big strong arms
Filling me instant with a tranquil calm
Your lips full and tender
are upon mine
A kiss so sweet
simply devine
Gently you take me
by my hand
Through the bush
Moonbeams lighting the land
Stopping at the waters edge
We sit relaxed upon a ledge
There is wine and a platter
what a fabulous treat
Such a lucky maiden am I
to have a knight so sweet
Date nights with my husband
The sleek black stallion
was my husbands midnight blue RX7

Expression and emotion
Flows from your guitar
Encasing my body
in the beauty of its melody
Love acoustic guitar

Notice the things about
the one you love
Like their beautiful smile
The way that they dress
their own style
The tone of voice with
each change of mood
Or funny habits when eating food
The sound of their laugh
That look
just for you
The way their lips pucker
as they drink
The way their **** looks
when they stand at the sink
The shape of their hands
The arch on their feet
All our loved ones are very unique
The color of their hair
Or expression in their eyes
The feel of their skin
The touch of their thighs
So make sure you notice
what you have today
Because someday
it may
just all go away
Stop and appreciate

Thank you mum
for our precious times
that were filled with so much fun
Our wonderful family holidays
Starting when we were very young
Waipatiki beach such a beautiful place
With the sun and the sea breeze on our face
Mum and Aunty in a caravan
us kids would pitch our tents
Chuck on our togs, grab a towel
off to the beach we went
Campsite was in a paddock
Adjacent to the beach
We had camp beds
so mattresses were off the ground
So for us the evening chill did not reach
Sometimes a friend was able to come
this would really add to the fun
Such a special place this was
where the river meets the ocean
Late at night as we lay in our tents
we'd listen to the waves motion
Time spent at the beach
searching for sea crustaceans
with mum and aunty
on our seaside family vacations
We'd swim in the River
swim in the Sea
Such wonderful memories these are for me
Had to rewrite.
Wonderful holidays with mum, Aunty Rose
our cousins my siblings and sometimes a friend. Fabulous memories x

There's times
of extreme happiness
Lifes filled with
song
dance
and sound

There's times
of extreme anger
Please keep your eyes to the ground

There's times
his face            diStoRts
     with
    HOSTILITY
He's so filled with rage

His behavior he can not help
His behavior he can not gauge

There's times
of great confusion
About his life
he hasn't got a clue

There's times
of not remembering
The face of his best friend
and
his mother too

There's times
his body aches
from the constant walking
he must do

There's times
of great fatigue
from taking care of you

There's times
people tell me
I should put him in a home
But how do I do that and leave him there alone

Anyway

that's not going to happen

Cause he's  staying right here

With his wife
who loves him

and his
sister in law
who holds him dear

I had a little headache
Slightly increasen over time
Nothing really
UNTIL NOW
11.30pm
I'm not fine
My throat is harsh
My ears do sing
with a gentle humming pain
Excruciating is my head
Body shivers
in my bed
Tonsillitis has come a calling
Like a torturis leeching stain
Creeping in
Your unaware
It's so unfair
Then swallows you whole
In a torrent of fevers, delirium
right down to your soul
Feel like ****
Thank goodness I'm on respite

Lovers side by side
Watching the sunset
feeling the tide
Makes me think of holidays in
Broom beautiful sunsets

Unconditional love

Is love pure and true

Unconditional love

Is the love I have with you

Your whole heart giving

And received in return

To trust someone completely

a hard lesson learned

Not to worry about their past

Or have yours thrown in your face

To wipe the slate clean

Is the love that we all dream

To be so connected

almost reading

each others minds

Finishing each others sentences

is something we do all the time

To love someone completely

no matter how much they

change

Weight gain,gray hair, whatever

you love them just the same

People go their whole lives

trying to find unconditional love

You and I have been so lucky

and for that

I thank the heavens above
Lucky enough to have experienced
unconditional love

Sad heart
spilleth over
with tears wept
Muffled murmurs
of secrets kept

Arms embrace
holding tight
In the darkness of night

Unshed tears
locked away
Troubled fears know in play
Silent secrets
forever unknown
Year upon year
time has flown

Darkness is me
for now in this moment
I don't know
who to be
Hard times
Debbie Brindley May 2017
You'd known each other a few years
With each other you were at ease
You decided you wanted more
Entering her world like a cool
summer breeze
Time spent together
was a soft glowing light
Sweet words whispered
walks hand in hand
long conversations into the night
You made her feel safe and secure
with your charisma and charm
Introducing her to your family
Walking in arm in arm
When asked to meet her family
it caused you stress and alarm
Insecurities got the better of you
You panicked about what to do
So any sort of relationship
was shut down, snuffed out
out of the blue
Life's far to short and this I know
Not to take the reins of life and give somthings ago
People who like you for who you are
do not come round to often
So the dislike and disapproval of yourself needs to somewhat soften
You put her in a dismal place
 extinguishing that flame
You didn't call, didn't text
you did nothing
So she thought she was to blame
You should have thought long and hard before saying you'd give
things ago
Instead you came in
Made her heart flutter
Then left her feeling low
With age does come wisdom. Unfortunately for some not in areas of life

Some days life overwhelms me
Some days I wish I could climb into a cloud and float away
Today's a hard day
Debbie Brindley Apr 2017
Please don't hurt me
I don't heal well
Sometimes my heart aches
My mind goes through hell
**** my head is talking
Its voice driving me insane
It's a dull lifeless voice
Just droning in my brain
I close my eyes there's darkness
I don't like being here
I know I'm being stupid
For there's nothing here to fear
I should open my arms and welcome
Not put myself in a cage
Not lock away my anger
For the anger may turn to rage
Great here's that voice again
Drilling into my brain
Please don't drill to deep
For the droning may drive me insane
I close my ears from the world
Stop telling me what to do
I bet if you look at your past
You'll see that you've been here too
Gotta snap out of this sadness
Hee hee here's that voice again
Digging deeper and deeper
Aahh starting to coarse me pain
Gotta get myself together
I wish I knew what to do
Please stop this voice that's in my brain
Much more of this and I'll go insane
Hee hee hee to late
A peom written long ago

Strong and free
Warrior is she
Goddess with heart
She'll stand beside you
from the start
Her heart beats for you
the one she holds true
True love runs through her veins
She'll fight for you
through sunshine and rain
Give rise to her call
She'll not let you fall
Warrior staunch is she
This warrior
she is me
Being my husbands carer
You
Debbie Brindley May 2018
You
Your face so handsome
near or far
Features like
a well sculptured land
Etched in my memories forever
How I'd love to carry you away
on a silver lined cloud
curled up beside you
My beautiful man
Debbie Brindley Feb 2018
Dreamt of growing
old with you
The pair of us
wrinkled and gray
In our garden
surrounded by
grandchildren and flowers
Thought our life
would end this way
But illness has come
On a solitary journey you travel
I'm here
watching you
trying desperately
not to unravel
So in my memories
forever young
you will be
While I get to keep living
When all I ever wanted
was just
you and me
My thoughts
overwhelming
My heart filled with dismay
But it doesn't matter
how much I wish
it's not going to help you stay
So I shall just sit here
holding your hand
Telling you
I love you
and hoping you understand
Finding Todd's illness overwhelming at the moment
Debbie Brindley Jun 2017
First time I saw you
across the room
your face so handsome
it made my heart swoon
For 11yrs I admired you
from a far
Till one night while out
we meet at a bar
We talked and danced
til about 3
No one existed
it was just you and me
We moved in together
a house in the bush
it had an orchard a dam
you could even fish
Your 2 kids my 1
together makes 3
we had ourselves an instant family
Our kids rode bikes,camped
we had so much fun
Days during the summer
at the dam in the sun
It felt as if my life
had only just begun
And it all started
because you made my
heart swoon
When I saw that handsome face of yours across the room
I've known my husband 30yrs. I still think he's the most beautiful person I've ever met.
Debbie Brindley Jun 2018
Immerse me in your music
Let your melody
dance upon my skin
Surround me
in the notes you play
****** me from within
The music takes over
My body starts to sway
Emotion flows from your guitar
It's rhythm taking me away
On a journey
to where there is nothing
but your music surrounding me
Encasing my whole body
in the beauty
of its lyrical melody
My husband was a fabulous guitarist. I miss hearing him play
Debbie Brindley Jul 2017
You live in a world
That is your own
Filled with love and support
Your never alone

Like the Enchanted Rose
In cased in glass
With every petal that falls
A layer of you is lost
The person you were
has payed a huge cost

This journey is something
we have to endeavor
It's a road that you and I shall travel together

We're learning skills to cope
Living day by day
We have my sisters help
Making hard days seem ok

If you have that special someone
in your life
Be it your partner, lover, husband
or wife
If you really do love them tell them so
Don't let a day go by without letting  them know
Never take for granted the one you love
If your both healthy and happy
Thank the lord above
Never take anyone you love for granted

— The End —
