Each step is an inevitable
              one to our last.

So make sure you walk slowly,
              you don't want to rush

the inevitable.

Even take a few steps
           back sometimes

you'll see more the

                             second time ...

We love, and the more
We love, the more
We hurt.

Walking through the memories of mindlessness
Attempting to see what has been and not what will be
This is the understanding and awareness of historical events
Is this experience worthy of our amazement and discovery

Of course
We have to see what has been to prepare for what is yet to come...

Onwards
stomping against the tufts -
grass
older than me
The knots
of a time long passed
I walk down
I walk down

Stinging kiss
of a nettle leaf against
my knees; unprotected
I walk down
I walk down

Brambles tug
my hair and arms
but I am rewarded
with the crisp tartness
of a berry.

Walking
the same trails as ever
But different now
They feel ancient
But the tarmac and paving says otherwise
So much is different now.
The road my granny used to live on feels foreign now.

red
you’re trailing behind me
like the past, it’s haunting me
unbeknownst to me
i was being watched
separated by two feet;
space and your resistance
that’s what’s keeping you from me
but you know where I go
when i need a clear head
giving into the resistance
you show up in red;
red so i can see you
no matter how far i go
some kind of game you play
so you don’t lose hope
this may all just be a delusion
that’s how it usually goes
maybe i’m the crazy one
but who really knows?

I'm afraid to take a step.
I didn't think I could walk this far.
The road was so clear before.
It had its wear and tear.
I walked through the thorns.
A smile on my face.
Tears springing in my eyes.
I've tripped.
I've stumbled.
I've fallen.
I've gotten back up.
I have to continue walking.
But I don't know where I'm going.
The road is covered by a fog.
I'm too scared to move forward.
I can't see the road.
I'm afraid that I will arrive at the end.
What lays at the end of the road?
Will it be what I've always wanted?
Or everything I've always feared?
Am I walking the path of enlightenment?
Or am I stumbling down the road of self fulfilling prophecies?
I can't see the road.
I want someone to hold my hand as I walk.
But I am a lone traveler,
on a road I can't see.
Fear of the Future

Out of the many inhabitants
Of your heart.
I still pace the downtown streets
Hoping to see your face among the
Crowd.
Whether you are leaving a plate of pasta
Or I catch you walking past the side of a building.
Of all the places I've been
I enjoy being here the most.
If by chance I see your face,
Whether you are alone
Or with company.
I'll keep my hello short
Around the landmark of your dimple
Most of the flights I'd like to take
Really are affordable
I walk the stones each Sunday
I leave flowers as I walk
Not for certain people
Just in case the spirits talk

I left a rose for Eleanor
Gone 100 years
Just to let her know that
Someone still sheds tears

There's lots to learn while out here
Walking through the stones
Listen close to all the voices
That aren't as silent as their bones

There are soldiers who died fighting
For freedom they did die
From the beginning of our country
Who now beneath us lie

They fought the revolution
Some fought in Vietnam
Some died lost deep inside themselves
Now, folks don't give a ****

There's many here of children
From the old orphan home
They found them buried out in back
So, there their spirits roam

The grass is kept up nicely
Though the stones are left to rot
I try to clean them up a bit
I guess I'm all they've got

I started out just walking
Now, I clean the stones while here
I give them the respect they miss
I can feel their spirits near

So next time you're out walking
And you want to stretch your bones
Bring a brush down to the graveyard
We'll take a walk among the stones
