Rebel Heart Aug 2017
My heart
Is not your toy
That you can come and use
At your leisure
Then throw away
When it becomes used and broken

And I'll let you in on a secret...

It may look shiny and new
But its shattered to the core
Broken beyond repair
Simply dressed to impress
So it can stay on the top shelf
For its highest bidder
So that its cycle can continue
Forever
I'll let you in on another secret.. your heart is worth the most when it belongs to you...

I’m lost in a box of toys.
My childhood memories.
It’s little world for someone small,
Even a demon could fit inside.

I used to play with them.
But never did I realize
that they were the ones playing with me.
I'm a doll.

It was never a secret,
But it was something I could never speak of.
The voices I heard at night.
The shadows scaring me for life.

They wanted me to play, and play and play.
I was trapped in a corner of their twisted intentions.
I didn't give in to them.
I was calm but with a hint of fear.

Now I'm running in circles.
Getting chased by living things.
It’s still a little world for someone big,
Even a demon could stay.

Run. Hide. Repeat.
Scream and scream for them to stop.
No help, no listeners for my prayers.
It’s endless.

It should’ve been the opposite.
But I had to pay for my sins.
They put me back,
And closed the lit.

I was never a human to begin with.
I’m the doll that are meant to be abused.
Forever and ever.
I’m still lost in a box of toys.

toy
you cannot twist
the bones
in my protruding spine
to get me to dance
anymore

you cannot turn me
on
or off
with your ***** hands
anymore

and leave me on the floor
when you are finished
when you get bored
anymore

I am not your toy
anymore

Drag me around knowing full well
I cannot resist you.
Leave a trail of breadcrumbs
or promises of love to see how far I'll walk
behind your chariot,
while I idolize your crown
and make excuses for your sins.

So, I just sit here,
waiting for you to defeat
the oblivion

and again, at last,
remember where you left me
like a forgotten

toy from your childhood,
and like every toy I too
need magic to come

alive again; that
kind of magic from the sweet
little human of

mine, the one who, at
once, placed an incandescent
piece from his soul into me.

There is a monster in my toy box and he’s covered in purple fur.
His eyes are like slot machines and they whizz around and whir.
He makes me say silly things and he plays with our cat.
He hides the TV remote under the bathroom mat.
He comes out every night to read through all my books.
He tears the corners, he writes in them in crayon and just look...
When I try to catch him, he scurries far away.
Mummy and Daddy, I’m not naughty, I just have to say:
“It was the monster in my toy box, he’s naughty all the time.
You just never see him ‘cos he’s so clever with all his crimes!”

Little girl:
Your lilac halo boasts wild days,
Yet your eyes, earthy and bold,
Whisper soft melodies of sweet innocence.
Little girl:
The bird on your shoulder shouts confidence,
Yet fidit... figi... fidgeting hands
Scramble days of rotten terror.
Little girl:
Be true to yourself;
We know who you are
We know you better.
You're not who you claim to be,
Despite all your changes.
Little girl:
Shut up.
Be still.
Be innocent.
Be what we want you to be,
Because all you are
Is what we make you to be.
