Post a letter to
your memories
Say hi for me
Print it in italics
and go way back
Make the letters dance
like your love did for me
Say it sweet, say it beautiful
Sign it with a kiss

I know what they say
‘It’s not who you think you are that holds you back,
it’s who you think you’re not’

It holds me back like the fire that lines the tracks

Hiranya, I wish I… could at least be
your friend, the one who is loved
And one who loves in return,
To stay true and will hold each other up above

You are beautiful as the sun
The moon, and the stars all together
I hope that you know.
And you bring me into the clouds of ether

She strummed a chord on my heartstrings
Without her even knowing
What if she would happen to know?
Would it also pluck on her heartstrings?

they say "the good die young."*

*must i wait much longer before i decide i'm not good ?
Doesn't it change
The course we've taken
If I say
I Love you?
Doesn't it mean
The end of what we had
If what we had
Was a beginning?
“If I Say” is about the hard words “I Love you”. As Charles Bukowski wrote in his poem “Confession” – “….the hard words I ever feared to say….”. It’s about beginnings and endings and about poetry itself and what it means. I’ve always thought of a poem as a beginning, as Walt Whitman wrote in “Song of Myself” – “Beginning my studies the first step pleased me so much, ….. I have hardly gone and hardly wish’d to go any further, But stop and loiter all the time to sing it in ecstatic songs”. What I’ve always sort in poetry is truth. The style of writing, or the “beauty” of the poem itself, means nothing to me. Only the beauty to be found within the words.
The poem is about moving from poetry to prose. From the beginning to what’s next. All done by the words “I Love you”, if those words are said. It’s about the potential of words and their impact on our lives.

I don't speak too much
But I read the news
Everyday

Which is where I've learned how

To expertly phrase
The few things I say
Everyday

I know I don't always say what's on my mind
and that you're getting tired of this guessing game.

I know that I'm more complicated then you signed up for,
and your patience with me is beginning to wane.

I know my coldness has made me frigid to the touch,
and you have a passionate fire, burning from your very core.

I know you've almost given up this endless chase,
because while I'm giving you what I can, you still need more.

I know you see me for all that I can be,
and you wish I would prove you right one of these days.

But what I don't know is if all this is worth it to you
and I don't know if you're going to stay.
It's easy to write about stuff everyone feels
The things a crowd likes to hear
What's hard is writing what isn't popular or 'nice'
Where some might think some restraint would suffice
But it's things that are needed that save the souls
And words go unheeded that don't nourish the bones
Don't tell them what they want to hear
Give them the things they don't often feel
Tell them they're wrong when you can do it with love
Because they just don't hear straight truth enough.
