Have you ever realised
How much you notice
When you really start to look.
When you really open your eyes.

You notice the girl
Who wears short sleeves
Exposing her cuts and scars
To the world

You notice the boy
Who is late for school every morning
And hardly eats anything
During the day

You notice the girl
Who always wears long sleeves
Who you hear rumours about
Who holds a handful of pills

You notice the boy
Who talks too loudly
And laughs too often
Yet always looks sad when he is alone

You open your eyes to yourself
You realise that this happy lie
The life you've been led to believe
Is really a cruel and sorrowful place

The way he looked back at me
pretending he was paying attention to his friends
when we both knew he was not.
His blue eyes staring back at me
while I was trying to ignore the fact that
my heart started to beat out my chest.
It was like my hole body got filled with butterflies.
Everyone else seemed to disapear
until he looked away and I remembered
I am not the only he notice.

i need a repent,
to erase all my sins,
i just can't get over you,
i just can not shake this feeling,
if you feel its over due,
i don't need anybody's help,
to conquer all my demons,
i could scream and yell,
it won't do anything for a reason,
did you even notice?
doesn't mean you cut your loses
and get out of dodge,
these problems are bitter sweet,
of course,
what about that thing you made on the blog,
somewhere theres a limited amount of time,
to fight a good rebellion,
if your seldom,
then your lying,
or the automobile you want to drive,
but you can't have,
in the sea of selfishness,
you dive,
but you had,
so much on your plate,
and many people in your life,
maybe this is the wrong place,
up and away,
you feel like you can fly,
did you even notice?
green screens,
and the darkest abyss,
alter the fabric of reality,
by the power of one fist,
like an anniversary,
of carrying out evil plans,
i fight with all your memories,
we've been through a lot of rules,
and demands,
again with the fabric of reality thing,
don't let your illusions get the best of you,
but in the mist of actuality,
will lead you to perfect virtue,
misery loves company very much,
been married for thousands of years,
you could have been super dynamo,
leave you unorthodox,
or you can escape your fears,
did you even notice?

Everyone looks better
Dressed up in black and white
Untouched by the colors
Of the lie they hide behind
You notice every inch of them
From the hue of their hair
To the color of their skin
You can truly see the way
Their eyes reflect the sun
And how they hold themselves up
Everyone looks better
Dressed up in black and white
Untouched by the colors
Of the lie they hide behind.
They saw her face bright
smiling and laughing
They heard her giggles and laughs
Everyone wanted to be like her
Loving this adventure called life
"She's full of life", they said

Little did they know
She's an amazing actress

Her life is her best performance
She's been wearing costumes and performing
all her life
But no one was able to notice

Or maybe
they just decided not to see
They ignored all the signs
because it's easier than reality
her reality

She deserves all the awards for her performance
Oscar, Emmy, Tony...

All these years
Being around thousands of people
Her family, friends and colleagues
She was able to fool them all

Does everyone who laugh and smile all the time really that much of a happy person?
"No."
Perhaps people who are,
are the ones who do that to forget
To forget their reality

"Maybe if I pretend long enough, it'll become my true feeling, it'll become my new reality, maybe..
maybe my performance will beat my depression. Maybe.."
Just see what's in front of you. See and don't ignore.

I don't know how I can relate this to all of you,
but you guys have really been pulling me through.
Yeah, you. The one reading this.
You're support, to me, is like water over scorched earth.
My hearth can be without fire, but your praise keeps me warm.
This is what I want to do with my life.
I want to make you smile
and if I know that I've done that
than I can find an extra mile within myself.
Thank you, my friends.
All 15 of you.
I know, I know...
Behind the keyboards and computer screens
you could easily be mexican jumping beans
that grew arms, legs and an appreciation for literature.
But it is always a treasure seeing someone leaving me
any small measure of their day
just to stop and say
"This poem didn't make me *****."
It means a lot, guys and girls.
I don't know if I'll ever be famous
like Shane Koyczan or Sarah Kay,
but if I just manage to get this far...
this is good enough for me.
My mind races back and forth,
unable to keep a consistent thought.
I take a sip of coffee,
my hands tremble with nerves.

Why?
Why you ask.
I'm just waiting,
for the dust to finally make its landing on the arms of time.

When you would finally respond.
When you would finally notice.
That I am here and waiting.
Though it seems the dust is still agitated and suspended.

I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.

You run into the station as I'm pumping gas and come out with a gigantic cup of coffee.
"I know that usually by this time you've had three or four cups, and this was the biggest they had."
I take a long swig, and it's the perfect combination of caffeine, dairy, and sweetness.
"I love how you know exactly how to make my coffee," not knowing if you realize how much significance I place on this small act.
"About three-fourths coffee, one-quarter milk, and a ****-ton of sugar," you say while smiling at me so casually.
It's not a big deal, and yet it is. You pay attention to the tiniest of details, take notice of the most seemingly insignificant parts of my day.
You have no idea how much it means to me, how much value you have added to something such as this cup of coffee.

A child is crying because he can't sleep
But we don't notice
A guy with a wife just got his house taken away
But we don't notice
A mother got her kids taken away
Because the only thing she had was them
But we don't notice
A soldier thinks to himself about home
As a bullet hits his chest
But we don't notice
A man in a suit cries in his car
His date waits for him to come inside
He got the news his mom lost the fight to cancer
But we don't notice
A girl goes to a bar
Guys surround her for her number
She came to drink about her break up
But we don't notice
A man sits at his computer all day
Staring at the screen, not caring
But still cares about everything
He stays silent as his life stands still
But we don't notice
A girl sits in the shower crouched in fear
Fear of what has already happened
Fear of what will happen again tonight
The girl holds her breath then goes under water
But we don't notice
When actually we do.
