The day awakens
And so do you.
The sun, not yet risen
The sky a darkened hue,
Crisp fresh morning air
The chill reviving you.
Outside your bedroom window,
Air fogging up the glass,
Eyes spotting glints behind pine trees
But gone within a flash.
Opening up the barrier
Wind howling in your ears
Bushes rustle while leaves toss about the wind.
Sparkling grass, wet from morning dew
The birds begin to chirp
Signaling others to speak too.
The sun begins to rise,
Sky turning orange, red, purple, and blue
Up over the mountains
With light shining through.
Every drop becomes a diamond
Their goal is to woo.
To draw you outside,
To greet them with smiles,
So come out the door and explore for awhile.

It always feels nice being on the road with his hand in yours and the scent of tobacco and pine.
He takes you to the place he calls home.

Campfires and reading about the inevitable apocalypse with the light from the fire that is starting to burn out
You look up and the moon shines through the cracks in the trees.

Abstract drawings and sounds of nature.
The caw of the goshawks keeping you up in the tent,
A hike that is familiar to him, you feel a presence and are assured you are safe.

Before it is time to leave, you both run as the storm crashes and rain pours from the sky into the blue hole.
Then the lightning peeks through the clouds and the darkness begins to subside.

You breathe in... and.. out... catch your breath and take a look around at the dense forest.
You find the one that looks at you like he's going to save you.

Do you ever
Count all the steps
That you walk in a day?

Wonder if they add up
To the height of mountains
Or the depths
Of the deepest seas?

Yet you hold yourself
Back from a challenge
When it stands
All in front of you.
And say it's just a dream.

Nowhere you walk
Is easy.
All people talk
And glare
And have their opinions.
No where is safe
With an edge
So near
That one fault
And you drop.

Scaling peaks,
Diving where it's deep,
Or just living is not easy.
But then again
You walk with a friend
And there goes the challenge.

A river runs
While a lake stands still
And the mountains eclipse and make dwarves of the hills.
The meadow blooms,
The flowers swoon
As the sunlight of day paves a path for the moon.
As I lie here alone in a desolate state
Immersed in my senses but unfit to relate,
I can't help but notice I'm incredibly small
Surrounded by beauty and grandeur and all.
No friends to console me except the whistling pines,
No one to reach out and hold me
But the wheatgrass feels fine.
When I speak
My words fall like anchors in the sea;
The little waves of the lake that hear them
Shake their heads in disbelief.
The only truth I now hold to heart
Is that oftentimes life takes us back to the start.
A river runs
While a lake stands still
And the mountains are eclipsed by
My power of will.

When I reach the ridgetop on the way to the summit, the wind & views of the vast expanse of jagged snowy peaks Breathe life into me.
Heart thumping, no dead feeling inside today.
How long the dark smothering cloud stays away...a mystery
A wolverine! He brought me goosebumps.
Extremely lucky if only for a moment...but I have no luck & only a few bucks
The trees, the snow, the breeze, a grand show
As I glissade...pure happiness
My kind of descent, avoiding the dark plunge for now
Is adventure the only thing that saves me?
Next day soreness so satisfying
But happiness is only a state of mind, fleeting
Ill have to climb out of those depths again
But for a while a depression cure
Until another journey when I'll take those steps again
A rise within....

pizza over salad,
fries over boys,
books over looks,
actions over promises,
mountains over money,
oceans over tears.

If I die in the mountains, leave me there to rot.
My boots will outlive my flesh.

So just push me from the trail, and cover me with dirt.
My soul, it will be free.

Bury me where the air is fresh and foliage is lush.
My true home, and the only one I've known.

Don't cry a single tear.
My corpse will disappear.

Far below the earth.
My heart can finally rest.

You failed
not waterproof
you allowed water
to fall into
feet bottom skin

Lucky we had
enough of you
we juggled you
in the leaky shoes
that were
no good either

Next time
you’ll be worn
inside trek shoes
so that
you wouldn’t have to
taste the marshy
stink of feet bottom
the premonition
of possible fever
Inspired by the conditions of my cousin's socks on a 30km, rainy mountain trek

I don't like the feel of the moisture that hangs in the air,
The heaviness of humidity like a film coating my skin.
long and winding roads between trees soon to be cut by the hands of man,
Rivers to be violated by curious fishers and children.
It fills me with tranquility yet anxiousness to know somethting so beautiful will be destroyed.
These looming trees,
The aging moss,
The rolling hills occupied by the tall grass rolling with the wind like on-shore waves.
I can breathe but I can't,
An unveiling curtain covering my eyes as I yearn for some sanctity amongst these trees.
I feel a little lost in these mountains.
