Her
Michelle Aug 2014
Her
You stole the light
right off my eyes
and I'll continue
loving you until
the darkness runs out
Michelle Aug 2014
I used to be in love
with what you made of me
Blinded by the light
of everything you did

Thought I was being smart
Wouldn't let him break my heart
But the decisions I made
made it easier for me to break

Why was it such a high cost
to learn a simple lesson
Why must I fall apart
for you to fall back together into one

One heart, one piece
And I can't help wondering
Wasn't it better, oh so much sweeter
when there were two of us?

Echoes
My mind is screaming
the thoughts that I will never say
For you
got my heart beating crazy
It might just fall off of my chest
And it's crazy how
you took my life
Turned it all around
That voice and your smile
They're all I can think about now
You're all I can think about.
Michelle Aug 2014
Life weighted on me
Obscure; couldn't find my light
Simple things broke me down
Today, it feels so close, yet it's so far.

Another day goes by
Nothing's the same; you're not around
Distance and fate did us apart

Feeling lost and found
Over crying as the wind echoed your laugh
Undoing it isn't possible
Nothing meant as much as you did to me
Didn't you notice how you ruined me?

Oh, but I'm finding that light
Hope was lost, but now it's found.

He didn't notice
He couldn't tell
She was broken before
She yelled at him
Her eyes teary
"I don't want you anymore"
She didn't want him
She didn't love him
She didn't need him anymore
It was over
She just knew it
Though it hurt
Such a strong and childish love
I have no memories of writing this or even who I may have written it about

Expecting
Michelle Aug 2014
Four years old, I wish I could see
Fell off that sycamore tree, and as my daddy
bandaged my knee
I whispered quietly to him
"Daddy, what did you expect me to do?"

Nine years old, locked myself in my room
Mean kids at school, calling me things like they
had proof
I wrote on my wall
"Daddy, what did you expect me to do?"

Fourteen years old, the principal called him as
tears ran down my cheeks
My boyfriend had cheated on me so I slapped
him and detention is where I ended up in
He picked me up and I yelled at him
"Daddy, what did you expect me to do?"

Sixteen years old, held the note tightly in my
hand
Hopeless and crying, I kicked off the chair
Loosened grip so he could read
"Daddy, I'm sorry I never was what you expected me to be."

Love feels like you're floating on a cload and everything is oh-so-perfect and bright, but with the first glimpse of reality, it starts falling apart. Your cloud is gone and you find yourself falling infinite miles per hour. You know you will ultimately crash, but you continue trying to fly.

Him
You can see he's broken
just by looking at his tired eyes
in the verge of tears
as he makes another hole in the wall
Tidal wave of emotions
he can't cope or come around
A certain expectancy
A hope that the future will be bright
But there's nothing else to hope for
when you are falling apart
Yet he brings himself together
Puts on that fake smile

Her
When the sun shines, oh so bright
not letting her hide from life
you can notice the pain, the deepness
in her seemingly fresh scars
She stares at her reflection
dreading everything she sees
Cursing under her breath
every cut, every scar, every slit
"I hate you", she mumbles
putting her makeup on
Not death, but life that scares her
Smile, even faker than before
Oh, dear warrior,
they will never know.

Love is...
Michelle Aug 2014
You can get addicted
to many types of drugs
Love is quite the danger
Heard it makes you go numb

Happy ever afters
Stories we've been told
They are just like Alice
stuck in Wonderland

Love is just fantasy
One not meant to last
Hurts like hell to lose it
but ****, it's worth the while

You might not be broken
but these lines you can't deny
A love once so innocent
left you crying, on the ground

Pay attention closely
You shall not give up
You're still writing your story
It has just begun.

She was losing herself
Her sleeve stained with red
She was praying and hoping
No one would ever tell

Once again, not so innocent girl
She cried herself to sleep
One last time, her life slowly
dripping out of her wrist

She looked through old photographs
Escaping from reality
Crying silently as she watched
Walking in her memories

"And to think we all wanted to grow up"
I was sinking back then

Waiting, always waiting
Tears stream down her face
She still dreams of happy endings
Innocence, long lost in her fantasy
She misses love stories
that were never for real
The boy didn't choose her
Said she needed some help
Out of touch with reality
If he only knew her dreams
their infinite beauty
She's hopeless, but hoping
Her mind, her own enemy
Battles fought and battles lost
All inside her heart and soul
She's hoping, always hoping
Someday she'll be happy again.
I've never been the happiest during Valentine's Day.

I ask myself
Can I do this any longer?
Cause I deserve better
and you do as well
and all I've wanted
from the day we met
was to make you happy
like you made me someday
but it no longer makes
sense now
I say as I turn away
because the pain is too much now
If only you'd ask me
please stay.

You don't become someone's rock
only to fade away
You don't give reasons
to hold on for dear life
then walk away

You don't do this
and expect them to be okay
as if everything had paused
even though I wish it did.

A thousand screams
fill me up inside
I swim upstream
trying not to collide

Make it stop
I'm getting bad again
My hopes I drop
This battle I can't restrain

"Someday I'll be enough"
I repeated to myself
Four, five days in a row
Held a blade, pressed down
Oh, how I craved the sorrow

"Everyday will be good"
I mumbled to myself
The city lights ruined my mood
Skipped a meal, got online
Oh, how I craved feeling blue

"One day, I'll be loved"
I thought to myself
Someone else got involved
A cute boy, a cute name
Oh, how I craved not to be alone

"That day is today"
I whispered to you
Won't let you walk away
Cause neither would I, from you
Oh, how utterly happy I am.

And I kept writing songs
for thoughts I never said
and words I had never spoken
but I swear to God

Your eyes were so
captivating
I wish I had never
looked away.
all these titles are my current feelings about the poems I wrote for that person 5 months ago.

And no matter where I go
or what I'm doing in this place
No matter where I turn to
I will always hear your name

And I try not to miss you
but it's driving me mad
You ended up being
the best I never had.

I wanted simple
I craved teardrops
which came from rain
and not my eyes.

I wanted real
I craved feelings
which were honest, true
and not only lies.

But most of all,
I craved a package
labeled "You"
and all that came with it.

We'll pull ourselves together
like stitching up our wounds,
mending our own hearts,
finding new lights
where the sun used to shine.

And as we walked
out of the darkness,
we thought to ourselves
Is love meant to be this

How can it be
we lose who we were
for loving someone
too dearly

At one point, we know
we'll find beauty in
other eyes
and as I stared into yours

I lost.

As the wind whispered
the songs we used to sing,
each ounce of air
left my lungs.

For only I had tried
to be your better half.
I couldn't save your life
from the monsters in the closet,
since you were busy saving mine.

"You're not worthy"
"You're not enough"
were some of the lies
I wasn't here to prove wrong.

But as I looked
at you long ago,
I look at you today.

I'll look at you the same
on our wedding day,
whispering like the wind,
singing lullabies which say

You're perfect.
I will never know
what I did to deserve you
but I'm glad I did.

I figured you weren't one to show up

maybe we will too.
I hope we will too.

Michelle Aug 2014
When it comes to love,
never be the one
who cares the most.

There's no better way
to get someone to fall,
than to pretend
you feel nothing at all.

Distance will only draw
your loved one closer,
but you better not
leave thoughts unspoken.

At least not for long,
if you are afraid
to have that person
let go.

thinking about you
I must stop
thinking of the hurt

I must stop
replying to you,
as much as I want to

I must let you figure out
I need you to take
the first step

I must start
letting go
Please hold on tighter.

I used to be in love with you.
Now you've become this ****
that makes me feel blue
Every time I smiled because of him,
it would be just self-inflicted pain
on the long run.
What happened to you?
Please tell me
cause I don't know who you are.

Or at least

Not anymore
