Letting Go.
Cath Williams Jun 2015
You mean you're just going to leave me?
After all we've been through
You're going to give up like that?
Please, keep trying, for me.
I know it's hard but I don't want to lose you.
Stay with us, we'll keep you safe.
We need you more than you know
More than we know.
Don't just let it take you
Please, fight for this, for us.
I see you're letting go of the pain
The endless suffering
But what about me?
What about us?
What about you?

I guess that's it then.
No more you.
I believed in you
In your strength and beauty.
I won't ever let you go.
I can't ever let you go.
You've made it hard for me.
But out of love I will continue
For you.
Letting go is harder than it sounds.
I don't want to
But I must if I'm going to clear my mind.

So here's to you, you inspired us all
To become what we want, and we won't ever fall
Through good and bad
You made us glad
To feel loved and wanted
And never haunted
You comforted us
The greatest there ever was.

And here's to never letting go.

Sunburn.
Cath Williams May 2015
Eyes squinting
Stopping the blinding rays
From blurring vision.
Red hot
But suffer in silence
It's a rarity.
Defend against.
Hide away from the dangers.
Pretend it isn't bad.
Listen closely
It's not that bad, they said
But the consequences thought otherwise.
It's good
To feel something that is.
Not an emptiness,
A numbness.
Or a burning pain.
A feeling.
Although
Even with this surface pain
There will always be an underlying drone.
A drone of sadness
A drone of happiness
Who knows?
But the surfacing daggers of heat
Glare through skin
To pierce the wounds within
Know more than you let on.

Fly Again.
Cath Williams May 2015
Hello again Fly,
It's nice to see you so soon,
I hope you're happy.

I too am happy,
I see you're alone this time,
Is there something wrong?

No, I understand.
We don't need company to
Allow us to be.

Content.
Happy.
Sad.

How you feel is based
On what you have done for you
Isn't that right, Fly?
Do you and be you because that's the best you there ever is.

Darkness.

When did darkness become negative?
It's the light that blinds.

Skateboard.
Cath Williams May 2015
Ten tall trees
Surrounding the stony path.
Nine familiar faces
Onlooking the happenings.
Eight rough rocks
Lining the rugged road.
Seven small points of nature's creation,
Frogs and dogs and birds and logs.
Six strong scents
That nature breathes.
Five fingers
Fumbling to find safety.
Four stable wheels
Lying under the board.
Three friendly hands for confident comfort
Deceitful yet calm.
Two arms for balance
A lonely truth of real care.
One blue bruise
From the lies of onlookers and the deceit of a skateboard.
I wrote this for a friend. Based on a true story.

Fly.
Cath Williams May 2015
From a silence to a simple buzz,
A gentle hum slowly grows.
Never a whinge or a moan,
Just a quiet conversation.
Not lonely today, a few friends join.
Moving swiftly,
Weaving around the room.
In and out, bouncing off each other,
Opportunities as open as the door.
Not worrying what others think, brave Fly.
Surrounded by predators,
Poised and ready to pounce.
Fly, you don't care?
At least you've fulfilled life.
Not fearing death, courageous Fly.
Friends always by your side,
The promises they make and never break.
Loyal company, nonidentical,
Individual and unique.
Not trying to follow suit, but be content.

Dear Fly, you remind me of me,
Happy alone, but worth more as three.

My love.
Cath Williams May 2015
The hair that falls so beautifully and balanced,
Perfectly placed.

Those eyes glistening like glittering glass,
Singing a million songs with just a glance.

Your lips so graceful and elegant,
Prettily poised.

But you don't see the reality of it,
Your flaws.

The hair too fluffy and light,
Poison it with paste.

Tear filled eyes shattered and broken,
The sound of pain and upset.

Lips cold and dry, barely moving,
Soulless and still.

She.
Cath Williams May 2015
Red lips and piercing white teeth aren't who she is.
It's a façade for the sad girl inside,
It's the hurt she's had before,
She does not mean to mislead.

Flawless skin with subtle pink cheeks isn't who she is.
It's a façade for the imperfect girl inside,
It's the wish for innocent youth,
She does not mean to mislead.

Bold eyes with the pretty colour isn't who she is.
It's a façade for all she's looked through,
It's the hope of decency,
She does not mean to mislead.

Short dress with killer heels isn't who she is.
She dresses for herself, not others.
She dresses for her confidence.
But you took that from her,
With your needs and desires.
She did not mislead, you assumed.

Simply.

Sometimes you do not
Need to 'look' or 'be good' but
Simply look and be.

To Be Loved.
Cath Williams May 2015
So tell me once again,
Why is it that we love,
Yet refuse to receive
The love that we deserve?

From our inner feelings
To our outer beings
A love should not have to
Search deep for revealing.

If in doubt about why
You are deserving of
Friends appreciation
Just look inside your heart.

You are special
You deserve
All the love
That you get.

You.
Cath Williams May 2015
I don't quite know how
You manage to make me feel
As loved as you do.
