The Sun has gone to rest
Over the horizon to the west
Leaving the last sleepy rays for best
It's beauty, quietly expressed

do you remember when
all that mattered was
holding his hand

like the smell of the sun
on his sunburnt skin
laying on the sun-set sand

do you remember when
the only song you know
was his second name

and the only dance
that your feet understand
is a step with his toes

can you take me back
when the lamposts died
the other night

and i'll ask myself
why the sun shines
only on the two of you

take me back to sun screened streets
where all that mattered was
our touching feet

Evening light
Shining 'cross the lake
From behind me
Through still still air
Over still still water

You have so many
Great qualities
And so many friends
That adore you as you fade
Through amber and crimson hues

We don't wave goodbye
You just slip away
Gently and softly
As Nightshades take hold of the air
We'll see you tomorrow... same time.
Sunsets at the lake are the best. They present a brief moment of magic when the conditions are right... and oh, how beautiful when they are right.

This summer, the leaves are old,
Tired people in their homes.
This time, it's warm enough to hold,
The conversation on the phone.

It's sentimental, that this guitar,
Played so many false notes.
And yet, it's so, just so bizarre,
To miss some of my winter coats.

Summer is for the calm, the patient,
And so for the outrageous.
It's a time to remember the ancient,
The old, ruins of my soul.

Sometimes, it slips off my tongue,
That I'm the happiest of all.
But, it's a shock, for both of my lungs,
To feel the scent of the upcoming fall.

So it doesn't matter, the time,
The kids' laugh outside the building,
When it's so good to write, a rhyme,
When the sunset takes the anxious feeling.

I would've given anything to watch every sunset with you
and I don't know why two people in love can't do anything but destroy each other
I don't know why every time you're around poison seeps into my bloodstream
just know that in another universe, I am laying next to you
I know what it's like to adore what breaks you
I've always confused my destruction with divine intervention

Chase the thousand morning suns you dream of
And watch them through big city windows that frame the colours of the wind

Read about the thunderous rain, close your eyes and feel it’s pain
Soak your hands in atmospheric water as you watch the rainbows shy away

Trace your steps back to the moon, and steal the stars that stole your gaze
Throw them in your pocket but put them back when all you see is the haze

Draw the flowers that grew last spring, and fold them in to paper airplanes
Set them free into the sky, and watch the buds grow when it rains

Close your eyes and smile along, forget I’m leaving...
Forget I’m gone
Chase the sunrise until sunset, and then do it all over again.

Gold on gold the cold clouds fold
Into amber wisps of day’s remains
This isn’t an end
But another beginning
A night
A day
A future that holds
Breaking slivers of silver and folds of gold
Worth a ton of sun
That warms my face
After a long cold winter

you lied, I said, you lied to me
I have dressed myself to look pretty
who do you think it's for?
why, for me, of course, he said
his eyes searched elsewhere for beauty
Franz, my one and only Franz,
am I the one and only Clarissa for you? I asked
you waited
tick
tock
tick
tock
yes, yes you are! you said
the golden sun ripped through the blinds
you let out a sigh, a very sad one
and we spent the rest of the day
staring at each other
not knowing what to say
not knowing where to start
forgetting how to kiss and make up
must we, in this wave of falseness, lay?
a poem of infidelity.

For someone who looks so fervently
A sonnet in the sky
You penned for me
Daughter nature
And trust me
Your mother has nothing on you
In this moment you have all of my eyes
What a beautiful sight

The first gleaming light in the early Morning
Is the beginning of my happiness
To see that sun hitting the tree tops
As its rising
Brightening the land below
A smile as big as the east is from the West
Seeing the colors come to life
Hearing the birds singing
A cool breeze brushing against my cheek
Taking that deep breath of fresh clean air
Like twizzlers I cannot help but smile
Being thankful for yet another day
To have some fun and explore
And seeing the day go to sleep mode as the sun begins to set
More colors as beautiful if not more so
As the sunrise
Leaving me to rest with a smile and a happy soul
