Isn't it kinda messed up that we're all looking for someone to complete ourselves? We aren't second-hand puzzles that desperately need a slightly different piece to fill that void in the centre of our jigsaw. What's so wrong with completing ourselves, for ourselves.

let your body feel weightless
amidst the gravity in earth’s sphere
look down at your figure
and realize
you are alive
you are real
you have no end

allow yourself to combat the world’s constraints
and defy the forces binding you
to the dirt beneath your feet

it may seem strange
to oppose nature’s tides
but i promise you
it is worth it

you are boundless
a bird yearning
for the world beyond its cage
but most importantly
you are weightless
why, even gravity lusts for your release

Paint my porcelain skin
To look like steel.
This is my armor,
Fragile beneath
It’s metallic sheen.
Paint my face
With my blood
Like warpaint
In the form of adrenaline
coursing through my veins.
Forge my sword
With the splintered pieces
Of my dignity,
For my wit is sharp
And my pride is strong.
Heed my battle cry
The song of words once trapped in my throat.
I am a siren, a Spartan, a warrior for the silenced.
The blood
Running through my veins
Is toxic.
So bite me.

People often forget
to write about their happiness
It's only when they're upset
that they clamor of their madness
because they know
pity comes to the loud,
and ignorance to the mellow
I am happy right now

Throat hurts from the smoke
These thoughts provoked
I feel it breaking
My life disrupted
I promised myself otherwise
Do you know how to read?
This label reads fragile

I'm feeling impulsive
Anything to run away
You want to be reckless
Such a harsh thing to say

The salesman with a sales pitch
Love on the table, made a switch
I become the enemy
Swarming in for a remedy
No time for the vague
I fly much higher
On top of your game
A predator
you can't commit
you're unfit
and it's sick
how proudly to admit
faults makes you humble
throw yourself down
Take a stumble
lay on the ground
you're under arrest
I can't contest why

Thanks for your concern
I'm doing just fine
Putting back together
This heart of mine
I've been self sufficient
As long as I can remember
A windmill creating my lifestyle
Holding on to feelings in amber

I gave burnt flyers to this town
Ran so fast –could not be found
Left behind, only betrayal
I can't hear you criticise from here
Your lips are surely moving
But my strength has gotten so loud

Everything's the same, but everything's changing now
The sun, the moon, the stars
Shine brighter somehow

Anyone hardly knows who I really am
And for the first time it feels great
Outstanding —even when I fake
They said, "You'll yearn love."
Oh but love's a cage,
No feelings, no strings attached,
No worries about my heart being snatched

They say....

If you don't become a Sun,
We'll marry you off to a Sun
So you can at least be a moon,
A beautiful sight to behold.

Reflecting your spouse's light,
Blazing smile plastered on lips,
Diamond in glory on fingers,
A beautiful sight to behold.

I say...

As scant as my light is today,
Never will I become a moon,
I, a star from far away to see,
A beautiful sight to behold.

Always on the move forward,
Ye don't have to wait long to see
Me become a blazing bright star,
A beautiful sight to behold.
Sara Jun 2018
You were my sunshine,
my only sunshine;
since, you set behind the hills of time,
I
have finally seen the beauty in moonlight.
never be with people who don't encourage you to be your best self
