Once for the witches rabbit hole
And twice for the foxes hymn
While one began to pluck her mole
The other tricked and teased men
Though two and the same
They’re known for different years
And both are to blame
For trickery and fears
Andrew Rueter May 2017
The teacher stands before her detained class
And from behind her authoritative podium
She equates abortion to the holocaust
A dangerous comparison in an educational garrison
But the other children nodded their heads in agreement
A benefit of having the ear of youth
Is being able to infect it with your own toxic ideology
What bacteria did this ear infection consist of?
Conservatism? Religiosity? Chastity?
The answer was depressingly simple
I was the only one there unaware of Fox News
I was a casualty of the confusion
The confusion engendered
By venom thoughts placing politic-colored glasses
on the entrenched masses
Entertainment
Used to convey anger and hate
Emotions worth conveying
But not living in
The intents and desires of their vulnerable receivers
become an incongruous disaster

What could I have done?
Minds as still as the pharaohs heart
We live in a society where we're all infantilized by one myth
Good and evil
Looking back on what I did do
I didn't do much
But I did do something
I didn't nod my head like a ******* sycophant
The trees are a kaleidoscope of the green
rivets of sunshine peak through the canopy of leaves
as the light flows to the forest floor.
Vines wrap their arms around the trunks of the trees
climbing to reach the sun
Each desperately fighting for the just a piece of the warm glow
Robins, swallows, and Cardinals all sing their songs
as they glide from branch to branch
filling the woods with their symphonies.
A fox dashes across a steady stream
leaping over rocks and fallen logs
making his way home again.
They warned me about you.

You, the fox hunter,
who can see through me
hiding between the autumn leaves.

you who hide among the orange trees
and put your foot on my chest
and pushes your gun into my forehead
with an unchanging smile.

They warned me about you.

But you have beautiful blue eyes.
the neighbour's fox terrier
has taken to chasing me
a couple of days ago
I was walking to the car-shed
and when he sighted me
pursuit was firmly in his head
my walking gait
changed
to a very fast run
so he'd not bite me
on the leg
before I go outside
I take a three sixty look around
and see if the coast is clear
of the tracking hound

i passed and looked at the oaks
on their foolish great peaks
to their great fairy tale words
to their unique skies

i walked around the apple trees
and rushed straight to the inspiration
i became a wind blowing away
from huge calves of fire and foxes

i passed near the oaks of mighty
and I took a couple of mushrooms and flowers
tomorrow i'll put them on my hat
put on my golden hat

because tomorrow i'm going to play on
pianoforte
and will sound among the oaks
and the cities of the franz liszt sound

Cat jumps with vigour
Foxes come and coil in grass
Rest by solar lights
Foxes seem to LOVE sleeping in the garden. Just as the cat left, they came over.

Ravens dance upon highwires.
Flashing pinwheels spinning in their beaks.
The merry-go-round grinds,
Its rusted gears, squealing into the wind.
Book pages whirl and fly off into the sky.
The fox’s cry to the butterfly
Went unheard in this whitewashed night.
Probably going to end up re-writing this for a fourth time, but for now it's good enough to post on here and see what kind of feed back I get for it.
Red fur glints 'twixt trees galore
Above, a flight of swallows soar
As they fly deftly through the skies
Singing their sweet melodic sighs,
The fox moves lithely through the bones
Of white birch trees and ancient stones,
Weaving his way through the maze ahead
Strolling where few have dared to tread
Green leaves blot out sun and sky
While crows on branches perch to spy
So shy a beast that roams alone,
The only way it's ever known
