Flower once loved
Uprooted
Beauty no more
Limp body
Beauty she was
Left there to die
All because she had wilted
As her outer beauty leaves her, this flower is thrown away, simply because she has wilted.

I would like to take your heart and coddle it.
I would like to hold you close.
Your tears should only serve to water the flowers that grow from your soul.
I'm sorry that it's so difficult,
this life you have to survive--
but I promise you,
better days are coming.
So please,
don't ever tire of shining.

Take of the fruit that thrives here.
Sleep soundly in the sycamore's shade.
In time, what you've enjoyed will replenish.

Paradise.
Open to all.
My garden.

You may find my spiral staircase;
But do not wander beneath my Eden.
No trove exists to entice you.

Twisted alloys sprawl from floor to ceiling.
Life choked out from within its passages.
Shrapnel covered pathways and barbed footholds.

Labyrinth.
A price of iron.
My soul.

You breathe light into pallid tunnels.
Padlocks crumble under your touch.
Pave your own path through my body.

An empty auditorium, walls ascending into the void.
Center stage, a single flower encased in a ray of light.
Scentless, white, sepals of stainless steel.

Unremarkable.
It's yours now.
My heart.
It's hard not to love you when you've ignored my every obstacle.
Now take it and leave.

Delicate beauties
Fleeting birds of paradise
With feathers of glass
Love peonies, they never stay long.

Your smile still
shines like a sunflower
and only your laughter
can bloom this heart.

We stop our faithful car
Halfway between both
National parks
Because the scenery
Was too gorgeous
To quickly forget.
We sit down near a cow fence
And you pick me a flower
And place it in my hair,
And I can tell everything
With you is about the scenery,
The message, the emotion.
You’re an artist that never
Turns away from the canvas.
You never turn off the appreciation,
The evaluating, the creating,
And I want to kiss your
Tired eyes,
The ones that must dream
Exhausting things
All night and day,
And now there are tears in my eyes
And they sting
And it’s because I realize
How draining it must be
To be so beautiful.
You make me realize
How similar we are,
I see myself in you.
Everything to me is poetry.
All the double meaning
And metaphor
Gives me context, gives me life,
Helps me make connections.
It drives me absolutely insane,
Being an artist at heart,
And then in a twist of fate,
That turns out to be
Exactly what you want.
Now we’re weeping
On the side of the road
Somewhere in Idaho,
And you love me,
And I know it,
And it hits me hard for the first time,
And I’m an artist
So I want to feel it all.
And we talk about love
And our fears about death,
How we’ll always be artists -
Me, the mad one, and you,
The sad one, and we laugh,
With tears of every emotion,
And we want to drink them up,
And it’s like time doesn’t exist
On this abandoned highway road
With the unforgettable view,
The unforgettable me,
And the unforgettable you.
One of the first poems I wrote for him.

circle circle circle circle
no corners yet I fall in
to the pattern each time.

each time I keep to my bubble
you just pierce the skin and I seep out
into your circle

circle circle I am gassed
can't breathe for myself

I think of you as a flower
albeit a rose with thorns but a flower still the same
But what you are is not a flower
or anything that grows or smells as sweet.

You poison me with you circle circle circle
circle until I'm sliding down the side only to sink as you open the shaft and throw me overboard.

Circle Circle Circle Circle
Circle I can't seem to keep myself out of your circle

Dancing in the sunshine,
A dream come true.
Up above the world,
Into the blue.
Seeing the heaven,
With eyes its own.
It felt immaculate,a special flower,
A season ago, sown.
It drank the air,
It quenched its soul.

The yellow being,
Slyly smiled.
Pride made way,
Into its whole flowery body.
It laughed at the trees,
Calling them short.
It mocked his siblings,
Telling them how they were just tiny dots.

Days passed,
The airy drink wore off.
The pride now gone,
It realised how vulnerable it was.
The other flowers,
They could cut its feet.

But they were creative,
They let it feel lonely,
And endlessly weep.

It shouted at the sky,
Blamed the sun.
It yearned to be small,
And be back on the earth.
But alas! He had to be punished,
And it stood there tall,
But, in the mind now small.

It waited to dry,
It waited to die.

he wonders
is there room left in my heart?

I laugh,
I wish there had been room at all.

and I can only hope it is a flower
waiting for the right person to bloom
and have pink petals be showered

in the palm of her ruined hands
was a single seed

if she grew one flower
spring would be in her sights

but winter pulled her down
together they were miserable

she could not bring change about
and so spring never came around
