The irrefutable motto
Spiraling overhead
Like buzzards
Is your wife's voice
Reminding you instead
That the directions you failed
To ask for at the last filling station
Several hours ago
Have once again
Ruined a family vacation

Serafina was a skydiver
And she was always falling.

Jimmy was her instructor
And the next in line.

"The thrill of love," she said,
"Is about how high you can climb."

If the moment's spent
She parachutes out.

A risk,
No doubt.

But on she plays,
Crossing her fingers

This idée fixe
Never comes crashing back to earth.
Inspired by the Interpol song title, "Stella Was a Diver and She Was Always Down."

I leave it to you with fondness.

How you used to fill it on those lazy Sundays
with fresh blooms from the neighbor's garden.

You would blame the kids from across
the street and we'd laugh
as their dad chased them around the yard
with a belt.

And when they would die, as they were wont to do,
you'd replace them with your paranoid
king's fiddlesticks.

He'd come out of the castle in a dither.

But you always convinced him
it was the handiwork of little green men
--who looked very much like
the kids from across the street.

Ah, remember the fire and how we danced?

Yes, my dearest captive
--the face that launched a thousand ships--

I leave it to you with only the warmest sentiments.

Love, Paris.

i felt the cold
i felt the warmth
i felt you
we felt us
i am stuck
i was struck
why can't you remember
i need to know wherever
whenever
whichever
however
now that we could be never
be together
i am just hoping
this lingering
can stop
or can you scoop
me
us
both
in
bed
in deep sleep
please keep
me

xoxo

The length of a passing glance
a moment of complete chance
...from one breath
to the next

When fingers entwine
where planets align
...from one breath
to the next

In the measure of a kiss
at the core of coupled bliss
...from one breath
to the next

Larry had an odd phobia:
The fear of backing into things.

Jenny had a perplexing proclivity:
She only moved counter-clockwise.

How they met is anyone's guess.
Love covered all the rest.
True love means excepting each other's peculiar sundries

That day,
we were riding
in the same old wreckage of a car
that you wouldn't change
because it reminded you of some actress you used to like.
you told me I look like her.
I never liked to be compared to, you knew that
you knew so much about me
that you could shatter
my existence,
but you never did that,
instead, you loved me.
And the next time we met
you came in a new car.
We went to the same places
talked about the same things
but today, you didn't compare me to anyone.
today you accepted me
as I am.
