All these years have passed and still nothing has changed,
So we have to march,
Against the abomination of colour segregation,
I'm just tired of all the lies I want to know what's real,
If I stand by your side will you show me the deal?
I’ve got the moon and the stars beneath my feet,
Will that be enough to free my speech?
Tried to climb peaks that were placed deliberately out of our reach,
They envy my life but I envy theirs,
Heaven looks great until you have to climb the stairs,
I capture my emotions in a liquor potion,
It's all good swimming with your tears in the ocean,
And if I can sleep tonight,
I'll let them know I wasn't afraid of the light,
Can you feel the fluttering inside?
Just come lay with me on my side,
And let's both watch the butterflies fly out of our eyes.
Red
He skulks around late at night, all hollow
innocence to swallow, beast within burns
his fire - demonic Dorian Gray, an infinity
of void, reflecting  through mirrors of lead

The blood is the lifeforce of the words, it flows
it's the rhythm that keeps on flowing, crimson --

Lifeforce within, flowing, like rivers in some
******* babylon, baby, pregnancy of the earth boom boom
vampire bite, what a fright, burned eyes boo boo --
trapped in this zoo, man - caged beast, man.

Every man is a caged beast, controlled and
*******, flawed creature, bashing head against the bars
and poets? They are the most flawed of all, dreaming of
escape, no hope, scraping the claws against the wall.

Red crimson lifeforce flows, big bang bachelors
drinking in noir nights, feeling the fright of the
big girls against the ceilings, their dreaming lips
which siren lust and ***, screaming in the night
siren. Bountiful ****, *******.

Sirens of ***, burning in the night, hemp smoking in
the corner, drink more, smoke more, **** more, feel more -
red - red -  red - red
blood / blood / blood

Give it in, keep it burning in your veins, through the heart
that brain, it needs something to keep on ticking
like the grandfather clock, tick tock tick tock
feed your ****, red crimson moon, find a girl
treat her right, be tight with the devine
that feline moma won't wait around forever

so don't expect her too, just treat her right
be tight, and hold her in the night, out of sight
nebula dreams with your love, sozzled right.
Wasted and burnt by your eyes.

Seal her red within with your tears of divinity
and bleed for her too when you need to.

Red, like the colour of a rose,
or at least the bleeding of a moon.
Bada bing, bada boosh.

desert and abandon these
warm and sullen affects; upon you,
a wolf, thoughtful and reproachful as you
shook your snow at the starlight, and pondered
upon the mysteries of the pattering,
puddling, flowing liveliness of granite nothings…

and the turquoise faded into one horizon, the
other expanded outward, catching the humming of
the air, and the soft intake of the flowers…the green sloped
and shuddered through the lens of the hillside, and above,
the clouds shivered as you painted their likeness in the sky.

still, the loss sustains these gaping mouths,
we tire, while you remind me
of the tastes of freedom,
of the colours of lodgepole pines rooted in dry,
eastern soil: bitter
and clear.

Blue.
Red.
Yellow.
Green.

Little hands, touching a static screen.
Smearing lipstick and singing into a hairbrush.

Bigger hands, tracing a phone screen.
Wearing lipstick and standing on stage.

Holding hands, walking down the street.
Holding a clutch, walking a red road.

Black.

Long karaoke car drives with friends.
Quiet flights amidst a night sky.

Cranberry juice with girlfriends.
***** martinis in an apartment alone.

Friends with everyone.
Friends with the flashing lights, reflected in eyes.

Blue.
Red.
Yellow.
Green.

Lovers.
Tabloids.

Smoking.
Cocaine.

Break-up.
TV Shows.

Black.

Waking up in a cold sweat.
Your heart bursting through your chest.

Diamond jewellery to your left.
Empty cigarette packets and beer cans to your right.

Asking yourself the same thing you've asked since.
Are you still having fun?

what happens when i no longer like your pink, sweet, version of me you’ve curated?
what would happen if i erased all colour completely?

no, i’m not talking about choosing blue over pink or yellow or green
“gender neutral” clothing isn’t any shade on the colour wheel

i’m talking about if i never associated the colour pink with femininity
and blue with masculinity

and yellow and green with “gender neutrality”

what if my life was just void of colour?

like if i were to say i didn’t feel like a girl nor a boy
nor the brief possibility of both

i just feel
like that grey space in between the most diluted shades on the colour wheel

would you still force me to call myself “daughter”?

There is the red in her eyes
Her passion as she sprinted for the gold
There is blue in his fingers
His soul when he played sheets of old

There is yellow in her smile
How she can even brighten the sun
There is green in their voice
As they harmonize many as one

There is brown in his feet
Stable roots for his family's needs
There is gray in her mind
What revolutionary invention will she find?

The world is so colorful
With people who make it so bright
But when I try to search for my own color
I find nothing, nothing at all
And I simply fade to white.

Fruits of the brain rolling over the slabs
The wooden casket of my dreams
It is my haven that protects me from death
And ever so stoic in the ground it stands
It will never budge for it retracts the light

But the warmth it contains
On this barren tract of land
In all its chaos in its branding
For the comfort it holds
And the truth it confronts

Protect me

A black and white world.
Devoid of colour, devoid of feeling.
No sound.
Only silence.

Then I met you and my heart beat fast.
I couldn't breathe without you near.
I wonder why.

The dreary skies suddenly turned blue.
The wind blew stronger than ever.
The birds began to sing.

I could hear music pound from my heart, whenever you came close.
The streets full of chatter, full of life.
Colourful clothes.
A radiant display.

When I touch you, my world's on fire.
I feel content and burst into tears.
Your lips on mine make my heart sing.
I love your warmth.

Holding your hand, I cry.
Crystal blue tears seep into your skin.
I wonder why.

Your hand limps.
The world is black and white.
